There are four horses still in with a chance to take home BS Champion titles in their respective Series, having won the first two legs. Hogsmeade, bred by The Grey Stable, owned by Starfish Stables, in the Steeplechase Series. He won the first two legs in last years Series but failed to win the third leg. Farragut, bred by The Grey Stable, owned by Littlefield, in the Fillies/Mares Steeplechase Series. Batman, bred & owned by Cirque Du Soleil, in the 2yo Dirt Series. Lucky Lilly, bred & owned by Cirque Du Soleil, in the 2yo Fillies Dirt Series.
Of the two horses running today who were in with a chance to take home BS Champion titles in their respective Series, one successfully completed the treble, while the other failed by a Neck to complete the treble. Hogsmeade, bred by The Grey Stable, owned by Starfish Stables, won the Steeplechase Series. He won the first two legs in last years Series but failed to win the third leg, however, he was successful this time around. Farragut, bred by The Grey Stable, owned by Littlefield, narrowly failed by a Neck in the Fillies/Mares Steeplechase Series.
There are two more horses still in with a chance to take home BS Champion titles in their respective Series, having won the first two legs. Batman, bred & owned by Cirque Du Soleil, in the 2yo Dirt Series. Lucky Lilly, bred & owned by Cirque Du Soleil, in the 2yo Fillies Dirt Series.
With only 6 BS races remaining to be run this year, Cirque Du Soleil are in an almost unsurmountable position to become BS Champion Breeder. Mathematically, only Ivy Creek Farm & Stillwater Farms are the only Breeders with any chance (albeit very slim) to catch them.
There were two horses running today who were in with a chance to take home BS Champion titles in their respective Series, having won the first two legs. Unfortunately, neither of them were successful in completing their treble. Batman, bred & owned by Cirque Du Soleil, was beaten into 2nd place by a Nose in the 2yo Dirt Series. Lucky Lilly, bred & owned by Cirque Du Soleil, was also beaten into 2nd place in the 2yo Fillies Dirt Series.
Each leg of all of the other four Dirt Series were won by different horses so there was no Champions in any of them, and, as the first 2 legs of each of the Turf Series were won by different horses, there will be no Champion in any of these Series either.
Congratulations to Cirque Du Soleil who were the BS Champion Breeder.
This year, there was one horse who earned a BS Champion Title, Hogsmeade, bred by The Grey Stable, owned by Starfish Stables, who won the Steeplechase Series.
There were a number of horses who won two legs of their respective Series, but didn’t win all three:- Farragut, bred by The Grey Stable, owned by Littlefield, narrowly failed by a Neck in the third leg of the Fillies/Mares Steeplechase Series after winning the first two legs. Batman, bred & owned by Cirque Du Soleil, was beaten into 2nd place by a Nose in the third leg of the 2yo Dirt Series after winning the first two legs. Lucky Lilly, bred & owned by Cirque Du Soleil, was also beaten into 2nd place in the third leg of the 2yo Fillies Dirt Series after winning the first two legs. Phenomenal, bred & owned by Cricket Hill, did not run in the first leg of the 2yo Turf Series, however, won the last two legs. Nighthawk, bred by Coleman Branch, owned by Starfish Stables, finished 2nd in the first leg of the 3yo Turf Series, and went on to win the last two legs. Legendary Glory, bred by Stillwater Farms, owned by Gant’s Farm, finished 2nd in the middle leg of the 4yo+ Turf Series but won the other two legs. Act the Fool, bred & owned by Cricket Hill, finished 3rd in the middle leg of the 2yo Fillies Turf Series, but won the other two legs.
Congratulations to the connections of all of the above horses.
