His sireâs first crop only just raced last year with so-so results, and he is his damâs second foal, so this guy is pretty much an unknown. If anything, at least he came out super pretty with plenty of white to go with the strawberry roan! I was quite surprised the name wasnât taken already.
Lady Raider has returned to Stormy Island Stables.

8.3hh dark bay colt
The third foal out of MW Easy Senora. She had bad luck last year and foaled before the new year, so we had purposefully booked her for a little later in the season to avoid another mishap! Sangaree is the archaic form for Spanish Sangria, a Spanish wine (we thought Spanish Sangria as too feminine for the boy).
Easy Senora will be bred to V is for Victory for 2017.

We had an unfortunate call in the middle of the night as Dancinginthedark sadly lost her foal. She was running just a few days late and never showed signs of distress during the pregnancy or labor. Dancinginthedark is a little confused but is doing just fine. Sheâll be sent to Majorâs Flight for 2017.

After the incident with Dancinginthedark, we were very relieved to finally see this little girl! Cool Your Jets had lost her first foal last year and was ten days late when she finally delivered. Weâre always excited to see our first Joy babies, so this one is extra special! Both her parents are created, but did well on the track so weâre hoping we have a future turf monster on our hands.
Cool Your Jets will be sent to Demand the Best for 2017.

Iâd check with Shanthi if itâs okay. I mean, itâs not like the real ponyâs Zenyatta or anything.

I donât mind naming after real horses (my first and third RL mares are in the game 
). Itâs naming after super amazing horses that Iâd rather avoid - fewer assumptions that the FF Zenyatta/Curlin/whoever will be amazing. At any rate, I like the name, and itâs fine to stay.

Thanks everyone! I honestly didnât know about the RL Silver Swallow until I named the foal and thought, âThough fitting and catchy, it sounds sort of familiar,â and looked up the name on Pedigree Query. I figured Iâd keep the name until Shanthi waved the red flag (luckily I tend to make a list of 5-6 names per mating in case a name canât be used!). I also presumed as long as names like Hansili, Ladyâs Secret, Barbaro, ect. werenât used weâre safe. Although I think I saw a foal of 2016 named Round Table, so that gave me pause.
I didnât notice that two of my lease mares foaled last night too! I was wondering why my expected foals count went down more than it should have. But my list is on a different computer, so Iâll name them later 
All my late mares have foaled so we can now take it easy until March.

We were really interested in seeing what a Bold Ruler/Man OâWar cross would be like, and Obviously Tardy delivered a big, beautiful colt. It will be interesting to see how the Long Live the King foals run next year! Obviously Tardy was a lease and has returned to Stormy Island Stables.
