Yeah, sorry, life’s been crazy lately.  Here are the rules again.

Final Furlong will be holding 2 contests: one for the Kentucky Derby and one for the Triple Crown

Note: All prizes are FF money, so to win a prize, you must be an active member of FF.

For the Kentucky Derby, there will be 2 options (you may complete one/both):

  1. Pick the winner of the Kentucky Derby (optional: also pick the winning margin).  For everyone who correctly picks the winner, you will receive $10,000.  If you pick the correct winner and the correct margin, you will receive $50,000.
  2. Pick the entire Kentucky Derby finish order.  Anyone who correctly identifies the full order of finish will receive $5,000,000.

For the Triple Crown, there will also be 2 options (you may complete one/both):

  1. Pick the winner(s) of each of the TC races: Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, Belmont Stakes.  Anyone who correctly picks the winner(s) will receive $100,000.
  2. Pick the top 3 finishers (in correct order) of each of the TC races: Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, Belmont Stakes.  Anyone who correctly picks the top 9 horses (top 3 in each race) will receive $1,000,000.

Picks must be posted here by noon EST on Saturday, May 3 (Derby day) to qualify.

You can view the field of the Kentucky Derby at kentuckyderby.com.

For the Triple Crown contest, if any of your pick(s) get scratched or otherwise do not run, you will have 24 hours from the notice of retirement (on BloodHorse/DRF websites) to alter your choices for any future race(s).

Happy handicapping!

OMG poor Eight Bells!!! To run her 1st race against the boys, get 2nd and then break both front ankles in her finish gallop.  :'( :'( :'( :'(
Well at least she went out in the best race of her lie.

WhooHoo I got the winner , $10,000

Adding my Preakness pick:
Big Brown

My Preakness RL:

Big Brown by 4 3/4
Gayego
Yankee Bravo

And my Belmont pick *crosses fingers
Casino Drive

edit:
With Casino Drive scratched I’m going with Big Brown for the win.

The horse that I think has the best chance of beating Big Brown is Denis of Cork. He was running on very strongly at the end of the Derby and this race is 1/4 mile longer.

Big Brown by a nose
Dennis of Cork
Tale of Ekati

My pick for the Belmont…

Anyone but Big Brown.

Seriously - Casino Drive by a length, Big Brown, Dennis of Cork

Casino Drive’s stone bruise concerns me though.

Yeah, sadly… Casino Drive has been scratched…

I’m a bit concerned about all of the horses remaining in the race though… It’s suppose to be in the 90’s later today in the Northeast!
