2007 Kentucky Derby/Triple Crown Contests

[Sorry this is a bit later than usual, Derby week crept up on me]

Final Furlong will be holding 2 contests: one for the Kentucky Derby and one for the Triple Crown

Note: All prizes are FF money, so to win a prize, you must be an active member of FF.

For the Kentucky Derby, there will be 2 options (you may complete one/both):

  1. Pick the winner of the Kentucky Derby (optional: also pick the winning margin).  For everyone who correctly picks the winner, you will receive $10,000.  If you pick the correct winner and the correct margin, you will receive $50,000.
  2. Pick the entire Kentucky Derby finish order.  Anyone who correctly identifies the full order of finish will receive $5,000,000.

For the Triple Crown, there will also be 2 options (you may complete one/both):

  1. Pick the winner(s) of each of the TC races: Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, Belmont Stakes.  Anyone who correctly picks the winner(s) will receive $100,000.
  2. Pick the top 3 finishers (in correct order) of each of the TC races: Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, Belmont Stakes.  Anyone who correctly picks the top 9 horses (top 3 in each race) will receive $1,000,000.

Picks must be posted here by noon EST on Saturday, May 5 (Derby day) to qualify.

For the Triple Crown contest, if any of your pick(s) get scratched or otherwise do not run, you will have 24 hours from the notice of retirement (on BloodHorse/DRF websites) to alter your choices for any future race(s).

I just wanted to say a big congradulations to Street Sense. Although I was rooting for a slight underdog, I was very happy when Street Sense won. It was great fun, and hold-your-breath exciting, to watching him come from 19th to win the Derby. I bet Carl Nafzger is very happy to have another Kentucky Derby winner.

I did like Street Sense quite a but was rooting for Curlin…Curlin had a terrible time of it, he was essentially a bumper car.

When I heard Tom Durkin exclaim…“And Street Sense is NINETEENTH!” I thought he was through and then all of a sudden there he was.
