Today’s stakes entries were “not so well” but in the low class races we had some wins.
First of all, Luxury of Time won her NW1 Allowance for 3yo on wet turf, and this is her first win this year and second win ever. I hope that she’s getting better. Alchaasibiyeh was 3rd in this race. Maybe next year is supposed to be their best.
Jorghinia entered a claimer again and won again. Probably similar story as with the two fillies above.
Shadow In The Dark was 2nd/6 in 7 furlongs Allowance for 3yo F, on good dirt. Golden Moon was 3rd/13 in a quite demanding race.
Unseen Sky was dead last in her race and I think that it’s time to see Monarchos.
And we just had to claim Bold Eclipse (NCh. Boldness Shows (B) - Anearlyeclipse (B)) for another broodmare…
Only had one out today, it was a kind of meh result.
Fine Detail went out in her first race of the year, an ungraded stakes, 6 furlong dirt race and took 5th. She likes short tracks, but I’m thinking she’s not so fond of dirt. She didn’t race much last year, real life kind of blew up on me, so none of my horses really got the chance to show me what they could do last year, but she won half the races she was in, so I’m hoping for a better year this year, since life has kind of calmed down on me.
Bah. Just bah. Hopefully better luck next week.
Apparently contry to everyone else, I had a fairly good day. Three out
Simple Hour was the worst result. 8th in her 9f Turf Allowance. I might have mucked her equipment up though.
At the 11th hour I finally found what makes Va Va Voom well, go va-va-voom. 2nd in a 14f Dirt NW3.
Last, and definitely not least…
New Rule proved he’s still brilliant. 7f Turf Allowance 1st. Bring on the stakes races I say. I could make a stud out of him yet…
I haven’t raced regularly in a few months as most of my horses performed dismally last year, so I’ve started working them out regularly and it sort of worked!
Black Tea was 3rd in her race, which is better than she has performed in a while. I will probably put some equipment on her next time, but she’s 6 now, so she might be getting over the hill.
Earthride Nation was 2nd in his allowance. I think he’ll get some blinkers next time.
Livingstone was 6th in his allowance. He’s been on turf in both of his starts so he’s going to try dirt next time.
Next out Teddy Picker will cut back in distance. He was 5th in his 15.5f allowance.
A mixed day of results but we had quite a few who performed well.
Dropped Bold Talker in for a tag going 11 furlongs over fences. He finished a nice 2nd/9 and no one opted to take him for $30,000. I can never decide if I want to keep this guy or not, chasers drive me crazy with how inconsistant they are. We’ll keep him around for a little longer now.
Cassandra made her 3yo bow today a pretty successful one with a 3rd/13 in a dirt nw3 for fillies.
DontCallMeSue wired the field today in a dirt OA. I do love this guy though he drives me insane by showing ability and then crashing, granted he’s become much more consistent since he lost two body parts. If one comes up we’ll put him in a stakes race next out.
Key To Fame put in a good effort, finishing 2nd/7 in a dirt maiden.
The One In Front ran very well to finish 2nd/12 in a dirt OA for fillies and mares.
Blargh.
9 out, 4 on the board, so can’t complain too much. All 3 stakes entries bombed (of course).
Win from No Contest, who broke his maiden.
Jacksonian continues to tease, finishing 2nd in his 10th start (9 of them finishing 2nd-4th).
Harrison Ford was 3rd in his claimer, and got claimed. Best of luck to Marshall Creek Ranch with him!
Morgan le Fay was 2nd in an allowance.
Finally had a pretty decent day over here. One of our horses, Approved Rumor, was claimed in the $50,000 claimer. He has some really nice lines, good luck Bacon Racing!
Uncanny Yodel (Highland Bandit) had a solid win in her SC allowance. Her 4yo year has started out really nicely, hopefully this continues!
Gniess One (Boldness Shows) proved she’s still got it and won her NW3 allowance. I tried some blinkers for the first and she loved them.
Bamboo Diva (Starz and Stripes) ran a strong 2nd/14 in an open allowance. She liked the slightly longer surface and wet track
Honest Lady ran 5th in a $10,000 claimer and wasn’t claimed. May have to switch her to SC
Cinnabar (Whats Your Point) ran 2nd in the $50,000 claimer. A good finish, his 3yo year is looking nicer then his 2yo year. Maybe he is a late bloomer.
Eloquently (Strider) ran a lovely 3rd in the Herecomesthebride Stakes. It was a large field so I wasn’t sure how she would do but she has definitely proved herself to be stakes material.
Well not an awesome day but much better than the last few even though not much money, sent out 11 came home with 12 and $10k lighter in the purse! Lol
Northern Moon-8.0f NW3 Allow,3yo F,Dirt - Good,8th not sure with this girl, she’s a lease and so far hasn’t done much for me, I don’t know if she doesn’t like the dirt anymore, the length, or equipment, totally flummoxed!
Double Shot-9.0f Allow,4yo+ F,Turf - Wet,3rd what a nail biter of a race she and 3 other horses were in a dead heat to just between 4/6 furlongs she fought hard and wasn’t far off the lead at the finish! What a run for an old girl!
Sunday Glory-11.0f Allow,4yo+,Dirt - Good,5th not his best but he brought home a check for momma!
Peace Accord-15.5f Allow, 4yo+,Turf - Wet,9th not sure what happened here, he might not like the wet or he might be ready to retire.
Riverton Heights-8.0f Maiden,3yo,Turf - Wet,2nd just lost by a nose, best try from him yet I think I found what he likes!
Rocking Bird-5.5f Claiming ($10,000)3yo+ F,Turf - Good,3rd put in a claim on her due to Interesting bloodlines, didnt think I would get her, and am pleased she hit the board!
Viva Las Vegas -6.5f Allow,4yo+,Dirt - Good,3rd he tried to move up. But just didn’t have the time, maybe just a bit more length.
Angelic Theory-7.0f Allow,3yo F,Dirt - Good ,3rd another good race by my angel baby, she always tries to bring home a check and usually succeeds!
Breakthrough -5.0f NW1 Allow,3yo,Turf - Wet,7th she just plain refused to run, I don’t think she likes the wet!
Devils Grace-6.0f Ungr. Correction St,4yo+ F,Dirt - Good,8th thinking she’s done or needs to go home for a while, and retire her to motherhood next yr.
In The Fast Lane-8.5f Gr. 3 Herecomesthebride St, 3yo F,Turf - Wet,9th not sure what happened here, she might just be an allowance girl,or just doesn’t like the wet.
Vivian Leigh-8.5f Gr. 3 Herecomesthebride St,3yo F,Turf -Wet,2nd I orig. Put her stablemate in, And decided to add her at the last minute, and she did extremely well only losing by a neck!
12(3)-0-2(1)-4-0 $45,800
I needed some paychecks, so I’m proud of the team today. Well, some of them.
Acapulco Gold ran 8th in 8.0f NW3 Allowance for 3yo+. I’m so disappointed. He did awesome the first part of his 2yo year and just seemed to quit. I had high hopes for him. I don’t think I’ll give up yet…
She’s Gawne ran 11th in 9.5f Maiden for 3yo F. She wasn’t dead last, so that’s an improvement. She still has yet to place anything above 6th place after thirteen races…
Gallant Affair finally broke his maiden b in 10.5f Maiden for 4yo+! He didn’t do too shabby his 3yo year, and this year is starting out great. He’s taken 3rd, 2nd, and now 1st out of three races so far. We’ll see what he has to offer.
Virginia Challenge ran 8th in 8.0f Claiming ($50,000) for 3yo. I’m not surprised nobody claimed him… He has yet to place above 7th in his fourteen race career. If he keeps looking at the ladies instead of running, I may have to geld him!
Cathedral ran 2nd in 6.0f Ungr. Correction Stakes for 4yo+ F/M. This is the first stakes success at my stable since I retired Unabridged! I’m incredibly proud of my first homebred. I think she’ll turn into a lovely broodmare.
So, today was bittersweet.
