We sent out a massive 15 today, but only 14 came home (we were a bit shocked by this):
4YO [color=blue]TRIOMPHE (x Magic Glory) won his NW2, and will continue to work his way up the allowance levels. Last time he finished at the back of the pack in an OA, as he was in way over his head. I’m glad to see him make a good turnaround after a drop in level.
Perhaps the most surprising finish of all came from 5YO [color=red]TWIRLAWAY (x Whirlaway), who won the G3 Las Flores Handicap, a race we didn’t exactly expect her to win. But maybe that’s what gave her the motivation to make it to the winner’s circle. Whatever it was, I am incredibly pleased to see her as a stakes winner now.
4YO homebred [color=red]OH SO PROUD (x Highland Pride) was 2nd in her NW1, though she still has yet to break her maiden. But she appears to be figuring it out!
3YO homebred [color=blue]ALLINVAIN (x Worth My While) was 4th in his NW3.
4YO stakes placed [color=red]WANDERLUST was 4th in her claiming race, and went home with Littlefield for the whopping price of $50,000. I was a bit surprised to see her go, but am happy to see her off to her new home. I hope she returns that pricetag tenfold - perhaps she’ll make a big mark as a broodmare someday.
The biggest disappointment was in our girl, 5YO [color=red]AFTERGLOW (x Affirmed) who made her second start down in Aus, and again finished midpack, in 5th (granted, to a very classy field of horses). We may drop her into an OA next to boost her morale, as the stakes level horses running down there are pretty darn intimidating.
Recent claim, 3YO [color=blue]CUCHULAIN (x Irish River) was 5th in his NW1, bleh.
5YO [color=green]TIZSOSUDDEN (x Tiznow) was 5th in his SC claiming race. I have never gotten the hang of this boy, and now am offering him for sale cheaply due to lack of a record.
Our other recent claim, of famed pedigree: 3YO [color=blue]WIN ZENITH (x Gotta Go) was 5th in his NW3. It appears to be a lack of maturity/experience, but we’ll be having a whole lot of patience for this guy to figure it out.
Everyone else was off the board even more than that. Thank goodness some of our ponies are figuring it out!
