Better day with regards to fewer 5ths/Also Rans. Highlight of the day was [color=blue]GCh. Fool To Be Smokin’ winning the Baguette Stakes (Gr. 3). This was the last win he needed to become Stud-Qualified, however, as long as he continues to show that he is enjoying his racing, he will remain in training, at least until 2024.

A good day for our home-breds as 5 of our 6 winners and 3 of our 4 2nd Place finishers were Starfish-owned Stallions, although one of our winners ([color=blue]GCh. Fool To Be Smokin’) wasn’t actually bred by us.

Not a bad day considering I was mainly just experimenting with everyone out today.

Congrats Joe on Smokin’ Indeed’s stakes win.

No runners for us today but successfully claimed Spock’s Gold from Lewis. Very pleased to get her as she won the BC Juvenile Fillies’ Turf so should fit well with our breeding programme - she’s the 14th ex-Starfish Stables mare to join our broodmare band!

I sometimes enter horses in a $50,000 Claiming Race to give them a race (and possibly to try and resurrect their interest in racing), figuring that the chances of a horse being Claimed out of these races are not great (unless it is something along the caliber of a Foolhardy). Having said that, I had 3 horses entered in a $50,000 Claiming Race today and all 3 got Claimed. C’est la vie. I wasn’t really planning on selling them but that is a chance you take with these races.
