One of the best racing days I’ve had this year in terms of sending horses out and gaining returns

b  3-1-1-0 $74,500

Wins
Ripped Jeans, (2yo, Witness x Denim Silk) 1/6– picked this girl up in a claiming race.  Excited to add a Witness runner to my barn.  I’ve been having some seriously awesome luck with claimers this year, so I’m looking forward to seeing how she develops as a 3yo next season.
GCh Marble Man, (5yo, Cigar x Keeta) 1/9.  Another allowance win.  Trying to get him ready for some steeplechasing stakes next season so I can hopefully retire him.  It’s a stretch since he’s older, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that he’ll hold out.  He’s posting some good times in his recent races.
Indy’s Slew, (2yo, A.P. Indy x A.P. Slew) 1/6.  Gave this girl a month and a half off at the farm to mature and she’s dropped some nice time off her opening quarters.  Will hopefully get a couple more allowance wins under her girth and then maybe see how she does being pointed toward the big 3yoF races next season.

Seconds
Slew So Fine, (3yo, Slew O’Scots x Passafina)2/6.  Her times are improving and I think she is headed toward a peak.  It’s going to be a great 4yo season next year!

Thirds
Bal Boree, (4yo, Almost Home x Blow You Away) 3/6.  Was hoping for a win from this girl today since she was coming off a second place finish in the Breeders Cup, but you can’t win them all.  However, her times are improving as well, so I have hope that a really nice 5yo season is in the cards.

Also Ran
Epic Steam, (2yo, War Chant x Victory Flick) - 6/8.  After 9 starts this year and all but one of them off the board, I think it’s time to send this boy home to the farm for the winter to mature and bring him back next season.  I picked him up for $1 in August and he’s brought me two paychecks, so I can’t complain.  He’ll get it right soon

Another fantastic day - also with over $1 million in earnings.  ::)

16(9) - 8(4) - 4(3) - 1(1) - 1

WINS

Ripped Jeans (2yo, Witness x Denim Silk) broke her maiden (in her third attempt), and got claimed. Good luck to North Oak Farms!

Ch. Singsong (3yo, Rahy x Keria Toon) won her OA, earning a speed record in the process.  She’s never been out of the top 3 this year.

Demurely (2yo, Highland Magic x Grama’s Prize) broke her maiden, for a record of 3 (1-1-0).  I was planning to sell her dam in the spring, but I’m starting to reconsider…

Ch. Sportsmanship (2yo, Player x Kiasport) won his NW3 when there wasn’t a suitable stakes race for him (he’s a SW/MSP boy).

Ch. Laevateinn (2yo, Sleipnir x Dixie Love) won the G2 Remsen Stakes.  This is his third stakes win.

Ch. Zadar (3yo, What’s Your Point x Adriatic Swan) won the G3 Cross Roads Breeders’ Stakes, remaining undefeated for the year.  This is his 5th stakes win.

Ch. Lovespell (4yo, Magic Cross x Dixie Love) won the G3 Lymerick Breeders’ Stakes.  This is her third stakes win.

Ch. Win Zenith (4yo, Gotta Go x Dark Miss) won the G1 Adelaide Cup, earning a speed record.  This is his third stakes win, and he hasn’t been out of the top 3 this year.  He’s 1/2 to Carrowmore, so I"m glad to see him shaping into a solid runner.

PLACES

The Lucky Few (2yo, The Fighting Fifty x Delicate Luck) was second in her NW2, putting her record at 2 (1-1-0).

GCh. Ducati (3yo, Magic Cross x Pennysurprise) was second in the G1 Cigar Mile.  I hope he keeps this up next year!  He’s had a stellar 2 and 3 year old season.

Ch. Brianza (2yo, Bellagio x Sovereign Song) finished second in the G3 Demand To Know Breeders’ Stakes.  She’s never placed less than 4th, even with 5 stakes starts this year.

Ch. Queen Catarina (3yo, King David x Uptown Girl) was second in the G3 Pardon Me Mister Breeders’ Stakes.  She’s finished in the top three in 6 of 8 stakes starts this year.

SHOWS

Ch. Worth A Treasure (3yo, Worth My While x Highland Treasure) was third in the G1 Doomben Cup against the boys.  I’m really proud of her for showing her class in only her second stakes start.

FOURTHS

Sign of the Cross (2yo, I’m A Classic x CrossTheThreshold) was 4th in his NW3.  He seems to be picky, and I’m still trying to figure him out…  Based on his siblings, though, I would expect him to get better with time anyway.

OFF THE BOARD

Mostro (2yo, Spock x Alwuhush) was 5th in his NW1, remaining a maiden.  Grr.
Time For Belles (5yo, Slew O’Scots x Time For Truth) was 6th in the G3 BTC Sprint.  I entered her on a whim and didn’t expect anything.  I think she’s past her prime, and I’m just trying to get her 10 starts under her belt in order to retire her to the brood band.  She’s 1/2 to my stallion, Witness.

First race day for me since July and had some really great results.

Halle Berry was second in the 16.0f Gr. 1 Adelaide Cup for 3yo+.
Queen of Fire won the 10.0f Gr. 1 Doomben Cup for 3yo+ and recorded the fastest time ever for this distance which is quite exciting!
So Audacious was second in the same race.
Tenebreux won the 6.5f Gr. 3 BTC Sprint for 3yo+ and recorded the fourth fastest time for this distance.

For the most part a blah day at the races. Only exception was Black Cherry’s win in the Japan cup, making it his 13th win of the year. His sire’s best year was 12 SWs, so if he can keep running as a 5yo, there’s a chance he might be even better than his sire. But you know, now I’ve jinxed it.

I give up! Purple haze ran behind the front runners the whole way and the fish was messed up because it shows her in 6th  and 1st  is what It says beside her at the finish ,I think the finish was screwy again :frowning:

Three fillies, no wins.

4yo Ch. Embellished finished 2nd/6 in open allowance.

3yo Hadriana finished 4th/6 in her NW3. After 23 races she’s getting closer to returning her purchase price in earnings :stuck_out_tongue:

2yo Hot Gold was 4th/6 in her NW2.

What does it mean when in a race the finish is in a different order than the visual order?  Does it mean the numbered order (1st, 2nd, 3rd) was right and the the “known” code glitch gave random results at the finish, or that the numbered order was wrong?  I scratch my head sometimes because there is a pretty predictable pattern, as of now, during the races when they run correctly, but when races “glitch” it seems very random.  Any insight into what causes certain races to glitch and if the results are credible because of it?

Argh, this bug keeps resurfacing.

For some races, the second-to-last race position/margin is completely random. It’s not based on the actual race, the code is just assigning the numbers as it pleases. You can tell because it looks so odd - horses jumping from 8th to 1st to 8th, or 1st to 9th to 1st. I thought I’d at least fixed the display (so that it ignores that bit) but apparently not.

The finish that displays on the horse’s page is correct, and it will match the last number in the running line.

(To give a bit more context now that I’m not posting in the middle of the night.)

I fixed a bunch of bugs in the race code a while back (remember when all the race margins were 100 lengths and up?). In the process, I wanted to add the “final furlong” to the races. Rather than just tracking every 2 furlongs for margins, I wanted it to also store the final furlong as well. It apparently got a bit screwy, though, so decides to just randomly re-order the horses when figuring out those margins, rather than go based on where the horses are on the track. Hence the funky second-to-last margins.

I’m hoping to get some time to look into it again, but last time it took about a month of digging. We’ll see.

Out of Class broke his maiden in his 3rd lifetime start.

Costly Talent picked up 4th place money in the same race Out of Class won.

Twisted Continent was a solid 2nd in an allowance.

Thanks you for the explanation. I think I understand it better now.
