It’s always a pleasure losing to those horses that only race every few months—it keeps things interesting when your competition shows up well-rested and fresh. Thankfully, we still managed to have a decent day.

This is one of the few things I don’t like about the game. It feels weird that the best thing you can do is only race your horses 2-3 a year. A well rested horse is good, but it feels weird the code doesn’t take some sort of ‘race shape’ into account and those horse win by a couple of lengths (and often: ridiculous amount of lengths and speed) instead of being like ‘wth are all those other horses doing here’ and bombing at least a little, lol. Feels like a dud can win a G1 if you just don’t race them for a year and then throw them in.

For me, it’s made me reduce the number of races I put my horses in.

Yes I totally agree, it’s one of the worst things in the game for me. Not right a regular grade 1 performer can be beaten by ordinary horse that’s had 6 months plus off the track.

I guess only Shanthi can answer that but for mine I never pay attention.

I check my results and those who perform well I look forward for their next race within the month (gee I wish we could program them 2 months out) and enter them. Basically racing ever month. Once they drop performance (running last etc) I ship them home and generally leave them there for 90 days, ship back to the stable and then look for a race after a month back in work.

If a horse gets an injury I normally ship home for the same process other than a Bowed Tendon which gets 1 year

I see well rested horses winning, not horses who are unworthy. I do find they don’t reproduce as well as first up but that could be my frustration in lack of my horses making stallion qualifications :joy:

There’s a difference between a couple months rest and a couple years…

I will rest a stud prospect for quite a while if they only need 1 win because we’re pretty low on the stud count. Other than that and injury rests, my horses race monthly or every other month at the most.

I love this game and I hope it continues for many years. It’s a nice escape from real life and doesn’t take up a million hours of my time.
