Coleman Branch had a pretty stellar day, made more so when compared to last year’s dismal record (Date With Destiny’s performance aside). The two year-olds who couldn’t seem to find their legs last year look like they might have figured out how to run a little at three. We sent out thirteen and came home with eight paychecks.Â
[color=red]Gotta Fly and [color=blue]Massacre doubled up in a NW1 9.5f for 3yo’s. They finished 1st and 3rd respectively, with the filly likely to move up in class and the colt seeming to want more distance.Â
In the second of five dual-entry races for us, 3yo’s [color=blue]Banners of Silk and [color=blue]Tiz Wonderful continued to be sources of frustration, though we’ll take Tiz’s 5th place finish over Banners’ 7th any day of the week. They ran 9f in a NW2.Â
[color=red]Sylviianel returned to her money-earning ways by finishing 3rd in a 9.5f NW3 for 3yo’s. Looks like she might want more distance as well.Â
5yo [color=red]Silent Turn found the winner’s circle again after a lengthy dry spell. We tried some new equipment and it paid off as she wired the field in a 10f Alowance. Our boy [color=blue]Stonewashed finished a nose behind her in 2nd. He’ll be pointed at a longer distance next time out.Â
[color=red]Date With Destiny finished 10th in what will be her last start as a racehorse. We wanted to see how she would fare as an 8yo, but it seems she’s ready for her next career. She has a date with Gilded Saint in a few weeks’ time. We’re all mixed up emotionally, as we’re sad to see this champion mare retire but excited to see what she might produce as a broodmare. [color=red]Fairy War finished 8th in the same race, indicating that 15f is a bit too long for her.Â
[color=blue]Aeronautics wired the field in a 6.5f NW3 for his first win since we claimed him last year. He’s a create and we’d like to see him do good things. [color=red]Catching Moonbeams finished last in the same race. We’re still trying to figure her out after a successful 2yo season led to her being out of the money most of the last year.Â
[color=red]Taking Vegas went unclaimed and off the boards in her 8.5f event. She’s running good speed figures, so we’ll keep playing with her equipment/distance and hope she fires.Â
Finally, we claimed a pretty filly by The Fighting Fifty in [color=red]Ultimate Folly. We’re hoping she contradicts her name and goes on to be a good runner. She got a good start by winning her 6.0f claiming race.Â
Here’s hoping for many more race days like this one in 2016!
