RETIRED Ch. Saxon Warrior. Just a quick tribute as I bid this old boy adieu and he goes off to eat and get fat for a living. I am a sucker for older, unwanted colts/geldings because I’ve had several turn into terrific runners after acquiring them for pennies. Saxon I purchased at the end of 2019 for 1k from Darkwood Stables. At the time he had ran just 11 times but never finished better than 3rd. After switching to SC, he went on to bank me 300k over the next two years including winning the G2 Byrne Cleeve Hurdle Race, running 2nd in the G1 Irish Grand National and G2 Whimsical stakes, and finishing 3rd in a pair of G3 chases. He was his dam’s only SW but is from the same damline as WCh. Drum Major and GCh. A.P. Valentino. He was in Gimme a Shot’s final crop.
