I’m just gonna say right here that I nearly fell out of my seat when I saw the race results this morning!

4(2)-3(2)-1-0-0 $7,358,000

Wins:
Black Sea (3yo, Sea the Stars) in a NW2 Allowance
NCh. Fractal (6yo, Changeling) in the Sunshine Millions Sprint (Gr. 1) - My unicorn mare does it again! Lol. This girl holds a special place in my heart, not just because she’s a phenomenal runner, but because her granddam, Executive Session, was the first horse I had ever won in a Color Wars competition, back when I was playing as Hokkaido Stables before having to quit the game for a time due to college. When I returned to the game, I searched everywhere for my old horses. Fractal’s dam, Limelight, was the only one I could get my hands on at the time. I bought her purely for nostalgia. She, in turn, has given me a gold mine!
NCh. Tense Imagination (6yo, Crystal Rainbow) in the Pegasus World Cup (Gr. 1) - Entered this guy more for fun than anything. I’ve never had a horse that I felt qualified for the Pegasus, and though I was certain that Tense Imagination could hold his own despite the amazingly qualified crowd, I honestly didn’t even dare to hope he’d WIN the competition! Kinda feeling guilty at the thought of retiring him to stud so soon now, but considering his age, I’d like him to get a few good breeding seasons in before he risks being retired early like other stallions we’ve seen retire in recent years.

Places:
Biosphere (3yo, Highland Burning) in a NW2 Allowance

@Firefly Congrats on Tense Imagination’s win! That was one heck of a field. Considering the breeding season doesn’t technically start until February, you could try for one last hurrah and not miss much of the season. I will definitely have a mare or two for him this year, regardless.

Fifths:
Ch. Terrific Cover (5yo, Lasting Spirit) in an Allowance. Retired to broodmare.
GCh. Local Haunt (6yo, Mr. Townsend) in the Pegasus World Cup (Gr. 1). Considering the field, this isn’t bad! I actually joked that if he finishes at least 5th, he will become the highest money earner in FF history. Apparently he heard me and went for the lowest bar, but at least he cleared it. Will stay in Florida to try and snag that NCh. title, then I’ll decide if he’s heading to stud this year or not.

Taromina Chrome (3yo, California Chrome) 7th in a maiden

10(5)-3-0-1-1 $63,800

At first glance quite a disappointing day but we have some younger ones beginning to get the hang of things…
Retirement to stud looms for some of Littlefields stable favourites though.

Dark Debate a dual BC winner and top older horse 2022. The sparks not there anymore at G1 level so time to enjoy new life at stud. Great favourite of mine and hopefully he might produce some champions of the future

Not quite sure whether Northern Invasion is ready to retire to stud just yet but today’s run was disappointing as been working ok. Maybe one more go???

We may struggle to get Northern Secrets qualified as he disappointed today and failed to win last season.
Flames of Passion will race on though. Probably go to Dubai next along with Barolia who had a nice spin over too short a distance today

Well, I just came back to the game after a long college-related hiatus, which means that I had a barn full of Fitness-F horses who were all mostly unraced
So today was mostly about getting as many ponies out of their stalls as possible. And they all still haven’t remembered how to run, with a couple of exceptions:

Dernier Adieu (7yo, Eighteen Karat) ran an NW2 and won by 27 lengths with a ridiculous SF. He’s never been that impressive, I only keep him for sentimental reasons - he’s his dam’s last foal, and she was one of my first broodmares. Hopefully this is him finally figuring out what he’s supposed to do (now, at 7…)

Dark Fleet (7yo, Dark Demand) and Mont Tremblant (7yo, Created) both won their claimers, so at least my now-7-year-olds still know how to win races.

Other than that, it was a handful of seconds and thirds and a whole host of also-rans. Nothing to write home about :joy: I have my work cut out for me this year!

Haha. Thanks. Fun fact, I sold Limelight to you as a weanling when I was playing as Hokkaido Stables. Executive Session came in foal when I won her in the Color Wars, but I was a broke newbie (had no clue what I was doing in the game) so I sold Limelight to get some extra playing cash. When I came back to the game, I noticed you had run her in a claimer and asked if you were interested in selling. That’s how I ended up with her. I’ve been hoarding her foals, the good and the bad, ever since. Lol.

Well done @Firefly on the Pegasus! My boy was at the other end of the field.

Outside of the poor Pegasus result, I’m happy with the rest including Ch. Cunning Fox (6yo, Can’t Touch This) winning the Barretts Stakes (Gr. 1)

Congratulations @Firefly. We had two runners in the Pegasus World Cup (Gr. 1) and both acquitted themselves really well. NCh. Bele (6yo, Highland Magic) finished 2nd and Ch. Super Saucy (4yo, Superdocious) finished 4th.
Apart from these two, none of the remaining 15 runners are worth writing about.

This was the third time Bele was trying this race, having finished 2nd in 2023 and 5th last year. He still needs one more SW to become the third son of the late Blarneystone Lane to become stud-qualified.

NCh. Cop in Morgue (4yo, Unabridged) 6th in the Pegasus World Cup (Gr. 1)- Disappointed with this result, going to try running a few more times before I potentially look at retiring him to stud.
Ch. Snake River (4yo, Quarren) 7th in the Pegasus World Cup (Gr. 1)- I think this boy prefers much longer distance as his only stakes win came at 12F

Ah I remember now. I too was still fairly new at the game and always short of money! well i’m still rubbish at playing the game but you have gone on to great things! well done

Haha. Well, some of it’s skill, most of it is sheer luck. And anyway, the point is to have fun, right? XD

I’m having fun but I’d love to stud qualify my own horse, got close a couple of times and I have mares that would have qualified if they hadn’t been mares! and I have never had a WCh or FFCh or an eclipse nomination. I thought i might have got one in 2023 but they never happened  Never mind… always another year

I was a player for 4 years before I got a stud qualified, and he was on a lease. Then 9 years later (last year) I suddenly get 5 horses qualified from scratch. I fully expect to not qualify anyone else ever again after such a spike. But I think NCh. is the highest title I’ve ever managed. I believe FF2021 was the first time I had an Eclipse winner so…12 years after I first started?

Omg I’ve been in FF far too long…

You can never be in FF for too long! Lol.

I had to go look up my horses from the first time I joined FF to be sure, but it looks like I started playing in FF year 2010 as Hokkaido Stables. I left some time around 2014. I was a senior in college and part of the honors program, so just had too much to do that year and didn’t know if I’d ever have time again. I rejoined FF as Sakura Springs after graduation, though, 'cause I couldn’t stay away. Lol.

I have never gotten a horse above NCh. level, and even that only started…last year, maybe? Or year before last. All my years are running together at this point. I’ve never gotten close to an Eclipse or anything, and last year was the first time I’ve gotten a stallion stud qualified (currently have 3, all born FF year 2019 and purchased from other people). So, looking at it that way, my pursuit of stud-qualified stallions has been 15 years in the making.

I got lucky, I think, that so many of my 2018 and 2019 horses turned out to be rock stars on the track. I haven’t had near that amount of luck with the large majority of my younger horses.

SAME! I’m so happy my 3yo’s are rocking it this year after being terrible at 2, but my 4-5yo’s are awful. I dread my 6-7yo’s retiring this year because they’re by far my best runners but they’re also up there in age. I think most of my success has also been in the last 4 years, though I started playing in FF 2009.

We started in FF2011 and had our best year in FF2019 with 55% OTB and earnings of just under $120 million (Starfish owned and leased horses also won 12 Breeders Cup races that year).

Since then, however, our earnings have slowly decreased every year although that may be in part due to not being able to focus as much time on the game in the last couple of years and having about half or our runners sitting idle in the Stable for large parts of those years. Hopefully, we’ll be able to focus a bit more time this year.

We had our first home-qualified Stallion in FF2016 with Tottenham Hotspur and currently have 15 active stallions standing at our Farm this year, including 5 home-bred. We also have Spirit in the Sky joining the Stallion ranks in February (he is pencilled in for his last race on Feb 6th and will be retired after that).
