1/20

Holy hell.

We sent four horses out today and three came back winners.  :astonished:

Poor [color=blue]My Dear Watson was probably in over his head in the Grade 2 San Marcos Stakes. He’ll be going back to the allowance ranks for now, and probably a short break at the farm, a day’s drive away.

[color=red]Romeo’s Girl started the day by winning a very tough sprint at Aqueduct against some serious competition. She’s been a wonderful, consistent runner for us and I think this calls for another attempt at a stakes race.

Surprise, surprise. After I suggest sending [color=red]Egyptian Jazz over the hurdles she breaks her maiden in her second start of the year. She came from off the pace in a turf sprint at Gulfstream against maidens. I hope this is the confidence booster she needs; I am very much looking forward to campaigning her this year. I guess it really was a matter of age.

Rounding out today is our grand 6YO turf sprinter [color=blue]Class Above, who finally got his Grade I win with a decisive victory in the Grade 1 Manikato Stakes in Australia. He has five stakes victories, is less than $100,000 from becoming a millionaire, and there is the very real chance that this year he might earn his studhood. I still can’t believe he’s 6; he’s been running since he was 2 and he doesn’t act a day older five years later.

Congrats on Class Above’s Gr.1 win! You broke my colt’s stakes winning streak (he was 3-3 this year) but he was backing up from the 16th so may have been a bit tired…

All his 2yo season we had Card Shark running on the turf in all of his starts except for his debut which was on the dirt and wasn’t very impressive. He’s been very consistent on the turf, 5 starts out of 7 last year he was no worse than second. This year he debuted once again on the turf and did well, finishing third. His next start we decided to see if he would do any better on the dirt with experience on his side. He went out in a 5f Dirt NW3 Allowance against older horses today. He settled in behind the leader early and showed true grit by running down the leader in the shadow of the wire to win by a 1/2 length. Hopefully bigger and better things are in his future. 1st/6.

Close Connection started her year off with a win. She wired the field in a NW2 allowance over fences. 1st/6.

[color=red]Majestic Lady ran a game 3rd out of 13 in her NW3 allowance. In a competitive race, she showed some heart and grit, claiming 3rd by the narrow margin of a nose. Not too shabby, considering she was coming off a bit of a layoff.

sent 2 out

Ahhh, I am so in love with my boy, [color=blue]Armory, he never ceases to amaze me.  Had him entered in the Gr 2 San Marco Stakes on the Santa Anita turf and came back a winner in his first stakes race as a 4 yr old.  With this win, he get’s ever closer to being a stud under the new rules and I’m excited.  Going to send him home for 2 weeks now and then off to Gulfstream he goes

My second really wasn’t mine when she was entered but she is now.  [color=red]Ain’t Ready to Die is a filly by Cross Roads, who was the grand sire on the topline of my colt Velocity that recently sold.  I have an affinity for Cross Road (in particular Backseat Driver) foals, I don’t know why and can’t explain it.  So I picked her up to race and she finished 2nd, which is a good sign to start.  Going to check in on her and decide where her journeys will take her from there

Crickets tend to suck in the beginning of the year, even if they did well in December.  WHY!?!

Four out, one pay check.  Demand the Best came home 2nd in his stakes race.  May consider fiddling with equipment to see if we can turn him into a monster.  =)

Well, we had a good day, although I wasn’t paying attention and entered one of my horses into a claiming race, so he’s gone to a new home.  XS

Six horses out, 3 winners, 2 4th places, and one…not so good.  XD

Snow Happy, The Fool, and Alydar’s Silver (who we put in the claimer) all went home with first place in their respective races.  Having Problems and Hunter went home with 4th place.  Lady Of Warcraft finished 11th out of 14, still trying our best to figure her out, it hasn’t happened yet, but she’s only just turned 4 so there’s still plenty of time, I hope.  :stuck_out_tongue:

Sent out three and one brought in some place money with [color=red]Mayhem finishing a respectable 2nd of 6 on her first start for over 6 months. Hopefully she can build on that over the course of the season.

[color=green]Highland Hero finished 9th of 13 in his race. It’s the first time he’s run for us and I don’t think we’ve quite figured him out yet.  [color=green]Hit The High Notes finished 5th of 6 in his race and given he’s also had a long break we’re not too disappointed. He’s eight now so the best days are probably behind him but we’ll see how he goes over the next few weeks and if there’s no improvement retirement beckons.
