Racing How'd You Do?

Very mixed – we’ve been off to a slooow start this year.

[color=red]Raspberry Kisses (3yo, Point Given) finally won via 25k claimer and stays home.

[color=blue]Devil’s Advocate (4yo, Crystal Rainbow) finished 2nd/11 in a 15k claimer and stays home.

[color=blue]Leather Lyon (4yo, Rumor Has It) ran 3rd/6 in his NW3.

[color=blue]Quaelor (3yo, Spock) ran 4th/7 in his NW1. We’re still figuring him out.
[color=red]So She Says (3yo, Rumor Has It) was a little disappointing with a 4th/6 in her NW3. I think she needs more distance, though.

Our sole off the board runner: [color=red]Star Spangled (3yo, Starz ‘n’ Stripes) finished 5th/6 in a 15k claimer and stays home.

Scratching my head over my decision to run [color=red]Rahy On The Rocks, a definite turfer, in a dirt race. Not sure how I @#%&ed that up, lol

Homebred [color=red]Infinite Horizons beat her stablemate [color=red]IrresistableZephyr and four other horses in a 5.5f NW3 on dirt for 3YO+. She’s progressing much faster than her half-sister, which is nice to see.

[color=blue]Across the Sea finished a nice second in an 8f NW1 for 3YO on turf, beaten just a nose.

Finally a day more like we were having last year:

WINS

[color=blue]Crucifix (3yo, Spock x Twilight Embers) won a NW1, earning his highest ever speed factor.  He seems to be maturing finally.

[color=red]Lady Katy (3yo, Stressed x Lady Kathleen) won her NW2, breaking her maiden.

[color=red]Ch. Always Ladylike (5yo, Giant’s Causeway x Always A Lady) won her OA & set another speed record, proving she’s still got it.

[color=red]Magic Feather (4yo, Must Be Magic x Long Shot) won her NW2, her second win in a row.

[color=blue]GCh. Fight The Twilight (4yo, Nightfight x Twilight Embers) won the G2 San Marcos Stakes, his sixth lifetime stakes win.  He needs 1 G1 win and a G1 place to get stud qualified, but at least he’s still game.

[color=blue]Ch. Sign of the Cross (3yo, I’m A Classic x CrossTheThreshold) won the G3 Roman Consul Stakes, his first stakes win.  I’m hoping there will be many more to come!

PLACES

[color=red]Spin The Bottle (3yo, The Fighting Fifty x Daretoloveme) was second in her NW2.

[color=red]Ch. Queen Catarina (4yo, King David x Uptown Girl) was second in the G2 El Encino Stakes.  She has been in the top three in 8 of 10 lifetime starts.

FOURTHS

[color=blue]Ch. Bear Witness (4yo, Witness x Dreamweaver) finished 4th in the G1 Manikato Stakes.  I think he’s ready for a rest.

OFF THE BOARD

Ch. Lovespell was 5th in her OA, which is really unlike her…

Hard day for the books. I even entered claimers in hopes that one might not come home!

I’m proud of our sole winner of the day. She’s peaked my interest and has turned out to be a solid purchase.

This guy is out of my prized mare and it was a serious sin to have under raced him last year. I just hope he hasn’t given up on his dreams yet…

She may be getting too old for this. One more race or two will determine if she’s ready to become a mommy.

With a record like 14-0-0-0-0 over the course of three racing years, I’m ready to just retire her, and not to the breeding shed either. Go directly to jail. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200.

Overall, a nice day with a good number of wins.  Sent 7 out, and came home with 8, claiming [color=blue]P

The disaster continues!

[color=red]Esprit d’Escalier finished 9th/9 in her NW2 for older fillies. The SF was much higher than she had before, but still… no wins this year!
