Up and coming 2YO's for 2017

With 34 yearlings ready to hit the tracks next year, it is hard to work out which ones we are more excited about.

We have a number of first foals for mares that ran in our colors, as well as the first crops for our current resident stallion, [color=blue]NCh. Black Warrior, as well as three stallions that we have recently sold, [color=blue]GCh. Cool Thief, [color=blue]NCh. Golden Text and [color=blue]NCh. Slip in the Mud.

There is one yearling that probably won’t see the racetrack until much later on in the year, the very appropriately named [color=blue]Born Too Soon, who is by resident stallion [color=blue]GCh. Major’s Flight out of [color=red]Magic Crystal. Although he is the mares second foal, he was born in December 2015, so he is technically the same age as his older half-sister, [color=red]Crystal Warrior, who was born in January 2015 and who will definitely hit the tracks early.

It will be interesting trying to place all of these yearlings in 2YO races next year. I could try and sell some of them before the end of the year, but I always find it hard to decide which ones to sell and which ones to keep, especially before any of them have run.

Only six yearlings here :slight_smile: and I’m most excited about the colts, because it seems that they will mature earlier than fillies. One is [color=blue]Aguirre from the recent auction. He has a long and really good damline, and a real-life sire. He’s a handsome chestnut ready to work.
Another one is [color=blue]Luminoso, a created light grey colt. He also seems to be already mature, and I hope that he’ll be a nice surprise on the track.

I have 18 yearlings and i’m super excited about ALL of them, however, these are the ones I really can’t wait to run

[color=blue]Jetplane
[ICh. What’s Your Point (S) x Jet Set Jenny (G)]
I’m biased towards the stally, he’s my boy! But I love Jetplane’s dam as well. Jetplane is 1/2 to MSW GCh. Amada, Ch. Run Jenny Run and SWs Rocketman and Jolly Jetson. Fantastic bloodlines, Jetplane should be a solid runner.

[color=blue]Silent Victor
[V is for Victory x Dont Ask (G)]
First off, this boy is a GIANT already over 16hh. He is part of his sires first foal crop so we are pretty excited to see how V is for Victory’s foals run. His dam, Dont Ask, has thrown some fantastic foals with EVERY one being at least SP. Silent Victor is 1.2 to MSW Ch. Lumberjack

Just some of the highlights.

I’m excited to see how Your High Horse (HC x GCh. Horse) does on the track. First foals are always exciting.

After a year of having no new Go For Glory foal on the track, I’m super psyched for Thank Goodness (HC x Go for Glory). This little filly has big shoes to fill, especially since her super star older sister will most likely be retired to the broodmare band.

Kept Woman (Long Live the King x Sultry Woman) is also super exciting because not only is she the first foal out of her dam, but is from her sire’s first crop.

It is with some sadness that we will see Cold Rain (DC x Singinintherain) start. She is the last foal of her dam and one of only three foals we got before we lost the mare.

Also, King’s first crop hits the track. That’s always rather never wracking.

Well for me it’s a hard choice, I have 48 yearlings! :slight_smile: but a few I’m super excited to see.

I’ll start with the girls.

Purple haze - by Nightfight§ out of Evening Haze (g) full sister to my Ch Nightlit Haze whos just a few points from grand and close to mil. I m hoping she has a similar style to her sister and have plans in place. She’s a 4th of July baby ans is 14.1 of her predicted 16.1

A Mighty Heart by as you wish out of graceful exit who retired after this yrs foal. She’s 14.1 of predicted 17h. She is 1/2 to  IChDoodles,ch devils grace,ch general Custer, ch graceful flames ,ch sing along. I’m super excited to get her on the track and see what she can do!

Beautifully Deadly by smart strike out of Resident Evil, a purchased filly I love this line and own 2 of her 1/2 sisters. One of which is Ch Nitemareon elm st. She’s 1/2 to ch.dream evil, and ch.resident debate. I’m really hoping for a solid runner here.

Danzin for Love by gunningdownromance out of danzinallnight my starter mare who passed giving me this last filly. She joins her 1/2 siblings ch danzinwiththedevil,ch danzin on a star,ch the chance 2 dance, I am hoping for another little star here with her lat hurrah.

And Nighttime lover by Nightfight out of third rate romance, not one of my mares I loved this filly from her picture. So far she has just one on the track, but her dads foals  more than mke up for any lack of runners.

  boys, soooo many but a top few

Velvet Revolver by Nightfight out of dark act, who was retired after this seasons foal, he is 1/2 to ch fleeting shadow and a few good runners. I’m looking forward to seeing what this boy can do.

SpiritofNew’Orlens by V is for victory out of bringdowntheocean, this mare has produced some good runners and I’m excited to see what this boy can produce! It will be fun figuring it out.

Moonless Night (Nightfight)  an auction purchase, Hell On Hooves (as you wish), Dream Walker(GDR), several I’m your angel babies both sexes! And a filly by doodles (who’s out of one of my mares)

I love them all! And next yr I have 40 weans, and expecting 63 for 2017!!!  :slight_smile:

Only have 10 to race next year. Most excited about [color=blue]Llwynog a homebred son of Spock out of Just A Fox. From the fillies probably [color=red]Jauntiest by The Fighting Fifty out of Gold ranked brood Amazon.

Woo, even I am jealous of your NF, babies Carole!

I have 51 babies turning 2 next year.  I want to sell 20-25 of them, but I’m not sure when I’ll hold the auction.  So keep your eyes peeled! :slight_smile:  These, you can bet, I will be keeping for myself…

[color=blue]A.P. Dark Star - Already 15.3h and 1/2 to 6 Stake Winners and of those 6, 3 are MSW. All of Morning Star’s babies are worth getting excited about let alone one by A.P. Indy.  :smiley:

[color=blue]All Sails Up - Towering 16.1h yearling and one of my WCh. All Jazzed Up foals who is out of one of my favorite mares NCh. Set The Sails.  His dam has taken to being a mom so well and her babies are the proof.  All Sails Up is half to Ch. Set The Stride and 2yo Ch. Nightwatchman of 2 racing foals and average over a million dollars between the two of them.

[color=red]Classy Wish - She sticks 15.1h so far and has some hooves to step into.  She’s half to NCh. Cutlass, NCh. Winning Secret, and 2yo Ch. Batista.  It will be exciting to see how this As You Wish filly does.

[color=blue]Dark Imagination - Already 15.3h and a Nightfight colt.  He is half to 2 MSW, one being a 2yo BC winner.

[color=red]Empirical Logic - One of two gorgeous Spock foals I have.  This one is out of NCh. Trippi Flowers and stands 16.0h so far.  She is the first foal from this dam so we’ll see how she does.

[color=blue]Eternal Wish - A modest 15.1h so far and out of stellar turf/SC parents, WCh. As You Wish and ICh. Eternal Lady (Seek For Love).

[color=blue]Indy’s Fire - One of the smaller yearlings I’m excited about standing at 14.3h.  He’s half to NCh. Sponsored and is by stakes quality producing sire ICh. Ring Of Fire.  Play With Fire and A.P. Indy lines just seemed right. :slight_smile: I hope…

[color=red]Let Me Go -Also, a smallish 14.3h, but it’s hard not to get excited about a filly out NCh. Cross My Heart. There is blue blood on both sides of this filly( Miss Hayday and Heart’s Blood) and I’m hoping it helps her shine.

[color=red]Magic Smoke - Standing a decent 15.2h and lines no worse than gold has got to help this filly a little bit I hope.  She is Sire/BM sire to ICh. Spock and is half to NCh. Fightin’ The Smoke (3yo Canadian Triple Tiara Winner), and 2yo MSW Ch. Smokin’ Devil (Devil His Due).

[color=blue]Talos - My other ICh. Spock foal.  He’s a little smaller than I like my yearlings to be at his age so I won’t be expecting too much from him as a 2yo but his lines point to champion status being half to 4 MSW’s including two GCh.'s, and NCh., and 2 Ch…  His dam, Goddess Of Luck, is also 10 for 10 for winners. :slight_smile:

[color=blue]Venomous - I am really excited to see how the double Rogue stallion, Ch. High On Love, does with this stellar Worth mare, Hollywood Heiress (Hollywood Gold/Hollywood Queen). A little twist on the classic Rogue/Worth cross. :slight_smile:

One more…

[color=blue]Top Shelf - His dam Windsinger has produced 3 winners and 1 stake placer of 3 racing foals and he is by Nightfight, as well.  But I’m mostly excited about this guy because he’s 16.3h which tells me there’s a good chance he’ll be a great 2yo racer.

Some nice horse flesh coming to the tracks in the spring!
:slight_smile: Ty holly! I’m excited to get Velvet an purple on the track!  **** excited*****

Luckily my 2017 2yo crop will be cut down (I hope) during the youngstock sale, but here are a few I have high hopes for!

[color=red]Carry the Day - First race-age foal of For the Win, who was retired far too early but managed to hit the board 16 of 19 times! Carry the Day is by V is for Victory, who I have high hopes for (no clue why, I just really like him). She probably won’t hit the track until April/June since she’s still under 15 hands and is a March baby.

[color=red]Famously - A big 15.2hh June baby, Famously is by Smart Strike who is still slow to start as a sire but she’s out of Von Hollywood (Planet Hollywood) whose only race-age foal has hit the board 4 of 5 times so far.

[color=red]Hold the Cream - My favorite yearling, probably. She’s by Point Given out of Cream Only (S), dam of Ch. Irish Cream, Ch. Boston Cream, Ch. Obviously Fleet, and Cream of the Crop who is platinum-ranked and dam of MSW NCh. Medallion, SW Ch. Invisible Touch, and SP Ch. Crownette. I absolutely love Cream of the Crop and have been trying to secure as many horses from this damline. Plus I love Point Given.

[color=red]Raspberry Kisses - A 15.2hh daughter of Point Given, she’s the second oldest foal out of Ch. Three Spectacles (Spectacular Bid).

[color=blue]War of the Roses - I lost his older half-brother in a claimer and have been kicking myself since (especially since half-brother has gone inactive since June, grawr). Another son of V is for Victory, he’s out of Glitter Rose who I think has potential to be an awesome mare; she ran 10 times for a 2-2-2 return.

I know that Llwynog is Welsh, but am curious to find out what it means. My wife’s family on her father’s side were from North Wales and she still has some cousins who live there.

Looks to me like it means fox or a type of fox

Yes, it means Fox - I wanted something to tie in with his mother and I’d called his half-brother by Giant’s Causeway Sionnach, which is old Irish for fox. I grew up in North West Wales but am a bit rusty on the language these days. Lovely part of the world though.

I only have four that are going to begin racing next year, but I’ll say the two I’m most excited about.

[color=blue]Carbine is out of my starter mare, Kelly Do, and by Gunningdownromance. Kelly really has thrown some nice horses. Each one of them have some success in stakes. This makes him 1/2 to Ch. Alfresco, who is a little monster.  :slight_smile:

[color=red]Stari Most is out of Eclipse Di Luna, and by my other starter horse, Unabridged. 2017 is Bridge’s year! His first crop will take the track and I am SO excited to see how they do, including this little girl.

You’re making me pick… I have a crop of 61 yearlings currently turning 2 next year  :astonished:  Guess it’s time to get some decisions made, but I’m looking forward to:

[color=red]Ebonys Dreamer is sired by GCh. Worth My While (G - retired) and her dam Ch. Ebony Star - Planet Hollywood (S) x Times Ebony § sadly didn’t make it. :frowning:  Only foal out of Ebony Star, so I’m really hoping she’ll show some amazing stuff on the track.

[color=red]Dark Crystal sired by WCh. Crystal Rainbow (S) x GCh. Midnight Danger (P - retired) also looks promising. 1/2 sibling to MSW WCh. Oscuro Arco Iris, NCh. Highland Outlaw, NCh. Daytona Beach and SW Ch. Validancer & Ch. Wild Streak.

Sadly our mare Ch. Sweet Dreams (G) had to be retired today and was in foal to All Jazzed Up at the time :frowning:  Really hoping her colt [color=blue]Oompa Loompa by FFCh. Foolhardy § hits the track running. 1/2 sibling to MSW ICh. What’s Your Dream & Ch. Fragrant along with SW Gimme Gimme Gimme, Ch. Dreamweaver, Ch. Willy Wonka & Filled With Stars.

[color=blue]Wookiee is a WCh. Nightfight § son with Lady In Residence (G) as her dam. Think 1/2 sibling to MSW monsters NCh. Von Lichtenstein, GCh. Heiress, GCh. Pleasant Lady, Ch. Kick It To Da Curb, Ch. Code Red, and newest Ch. She’s No Bull. 6 MSWs out of 9 running foals  ;D  REALLY looking forward to him although he is Lady’s last foal.

[color=blue]Fire the Rockets with ICh. Ring of Fire (S) x GCh. Rhiannon (S) is a foal I’ll also be keeping an eye on…

Too many to pick from with so many awesome bloodlines… head explodes

I’m baffled by those of you with even MORE yearlings than I have, because even my 29 seems like a lot - but I’m determined to try and manage them all at this point, and wouldn’t mind adding a handful more from other bloodlines (hint, hint…put some up for sale, huge & fabulous farms!  lol).  These are the highlights, though…even though it’s a looooonnng way off to springtime…

[color=red]Allnighter - All Jazzed Up {B} x Klondike Nights {S} (x Black Knight) - 2YO 1/2 sister is Ch. Coquette (x Bellagio), one of our most successful juveniles

[color=red]Brianza - Bellagio {S} x Sovereign Song (x created) - will probably be a late bloomer, but we had success with Bellagio (see above), so I’m curious to see

[color=blue]Charming Devil - Silver Charm {B} x Meadowlight {B} (x created) - only because he’s already 16.0hh!

[color=blue]Crucifix - Spock x ICh. Twilight Embers {S} (x Irish River) - this is THE one I am most excited about.  1) Spock’s first crop, 2) mom is HOTY amazing racer herself, 3) 1/2 to SW Fight The Twilight & SP Ciao Bella, who are just hitting their prime both

[color=blue]Foolproof - Foolhardy {P} x Highland Treasure {S} (x Highland Laird) - Foolhardy x Laird?  Yes, please! 2YO 3/4 sister has never been out of the top 3 yet in 4 starts

[color=blue]Mostro - Spock x Alwuhush {B} (x Alydar) - Spock! Plus he’s 1/2 to our 3YO colt, Allinvain, who just won a G1 stakes

[color=red]Newyorknewyork - Stressed {B} x Uptown Girl {S} - this dam has thrown incredible foals (and will be gold once she has more runners with her 8.2 rating) - 3YO stakes winner (& MSP), 2YO has won 5 of 6 starts so far

[color=blue]Pistolwhip - Gunningdownromance {S} x Ch. Keria Toon {B} (x created) - 2YO 1/2 sister has never been out of the top 3 in 9 starts

[color=blue]Ponte Vecchio - Unabridged x Oh So Sharp {G} (x Dr. Time) - 1/2 to MSW Ch. Oh So Proud & SW Chicago’s Demon

[color=blue]Sportsmanship - Player x Ch. Kiasport (x created) - already at his minimum maturity height, and his dam was a 2YO SW

[color=blue]Crisscross - I’m A Classic {S} x CrossTheThreshold {G} (x created) - from one of my favorite, sadly retired studs, and 1/2 to MSW GCh. Debut Performance, MSW Ch. Encore Performance, and one of my best runners currently, MSW Ch. Afterglow.  He unfortunately was the last live foal we got from his amazing dam before her untimely retirement.

Been a while since I posted here, what with real life getting in the way of things. Have ten yearlings, most of them homebreds, and always excited for all of them.

[color=blue]Across the Sea - gr.c., Tiznow (B) x Across the Stars (S), by Cross Roads (S). Bought him because I’m sentimental even though Tiznow isn’t as good a sire here as he is out there. From the same family as my winning The Black horse, Fleet Admiral, but I think he’ll be better; Across the Stars is a stakes producer and that might help off-set Tiznow’s lackluster sire record.

[color=blue]Aisro - dkb. c., As You Wish (S) x DreaminofAngels (B), [created]. Homebred. Not sure what to make of him but he does have three winning siblings and his sire is doing decently at stud.

[color=blue]Antietam - ch. c., Call To War x What’s Honor, by What’s Debatable (S). Homebred. He’s a munchkin of a horse and his 2YO half-brother isn’t all that impressive. I still have hope for the two of them.

[color=blue]End Of Line - gr.c., Void (B) x Party For One, by Lonesome Glory (S). Homebred. I think I bred him because his granddam produced a stakes winner by his grandsire. Family’s FULL of steeplechasers so I can’t wait for him to turn three and try the hurdles.

[color=blue]Ho’opa’i - b. c., Ring of Fire (S) x Red Light District, by Citation (B). Homebred. I am sooo excited for this one; his granddam Fire Flyer is silver-ranked and produced two multiple stakes winners to two different Cross Roads stallions. I hope this cross is just as successful.

[color=blue]I Will Return - ch. c., Call To War x Yours Truly (B), by Kentucky Summer (S). Bought him because I wanted another grandson of Man O’War to play with (is stupidly sentimental). Not sure what to expect of him but his granddam produced a multiple stakes winner by of War Admiral, so there’s hope? Maybe?

[color=red]Infinite Horizons - dkb. f., Rahy (S) x Glory’s Jewel, [created]. Homebred. Got lucky with this one, since Rahy sired some darn good fillies (and that one colt). Her half-sister by No Duplicate hasn’t done anything of note (yet).

[color=red]Moonstone - ch. f., Giant’s Causeway (B) x Magical Stone, [created]. Homebred. I’ll be happy if she turns out anything like my multiple stakes winner by Giant’s Causeway.

[color=red]Poker Face - gr. f., Player x Ideal Ransom, [created]. Homebred. I have no idea what to expect but the parents have similar racing aptitude so I expect her to do well going long on the green.

[color=red]Thereandbackagain - br.f., A.P. Indy (S) x What’s Honor, by What’s Debatable (S). Homebred. Technically she’s a yearling so she goes on this list but she’s not hitting the track until she’s three. I hope she’ll a good one, considering her pedigree.

Oh well, one more :slight_smile: a colt created for activity points, dark grey yearling [url=http://www.finalfurlong.org/viewhorse.php?horse=27653][color=blue]El Cielo Est

I only have six yearlings so I’m excited about all of them! There are three in particular I’m more keen to see hit the track, though - the other three are nice (arguably nicer than these three) but I’m expecting them to peak later in their careers. :slight_smile:

[color=blue]On the Brink - chestnut colt, Gunningdownromance (S) x Little Nikita, by Government Secret (B). He’s a sentimental favorite because his dam was my first purchased broodmare. She was only six when she passed away unexpectedly giving birth this year. As such, she only has two foals on the ground and I kind of really want them to do well to make up for her untimely loss. On the Brink is a bit short but not far from his projected height range, so I’m planning to send him to the track for a few starts and see how he goes.

[color=blue]Royal Blue - blue roan colt, Blue Ensign (S) x Majestic Time, created. He’s still a shrimp and doesn’t seem very mature yet, but I think eventually he’ll become quite a nice horse. I like what Blue Ensign has been siring, and Majestic Time is a MSW MSP multi-millionaire, so hopefully some of that has made it into this colt. He’ll be her first racing age foal. Plus… I think he’s a pretty color. :wink:

[color=red]Naartjie - chestnut filly, created. She’s already 16 hands and I like my created mares. It’s a shot in the dark, but I have a good gut feeling about her. We’ll see!

I have 17 in the new field though I’m catching up on my three year olds as well after missing last year. I’m going to be busy running maiden seasons on two generations of foal crops ;_; However, for the 2017 two-year olds I’m most looking forward to [color=blue]Give and Take, a full brother to GCh. Take Point.

We’ve got 65 (!) yearlings, so it’s hard to pick out favourites, but we’re looking forward to starting
