That was my inspiration. I have yet to go - have a day trip planned later this spring, though.
Oh it’s just amazing it’s hard to put into words, and even though there were a bunch of people there the day I went I managed to get a gorgeous panoramic photo with I think 2 faint people way in the bg. You will love it, I just wish I could have touched the stones. At Avebury we have pics of us sitting on/in the stones there, just have look out for sheep poo.lol
Sorry to hear about the filly… Glad to hear the mare is doing fine… Love the colt…
Sorry about the filly, lets hope the colt makes up for it
Yeah, darn, a filly too. :-/ Congrats on the other successful foaling, though. Nice predigree.
I know, adding insult to injury. At least the mare’s young and has plenty of years left for healthy babies.
Healthy baby…and a filly!

Love it? And the movies!
We lost another baby. Black Magick had a long, rough foaling, and her colt (by Long Live the King) didn’t make it. She’ll be rested for a few weeks and then sent back for another try.

I’m sorry to hear about your two losses. Best of luck to the rest of your season!
Sorry for your losses. It’s always disappointing to lose one.
Sorry to hear about your foals, but at least the moms are doing okay. I’m always excited/scared to check for new daily foals as I’m hoping none have passed away.
Yeah, I’m definitely relieved the mares are all right. As I was telling my boyfriend this morning, I don’t get truly attached to the imaginary ponies until they have a name. I’m excited about future unborn babies, of course, but until they’re on the ground (alive) they don’t really factor in. One of the perks of having 60-odd babies born a year, I guess!
Sorry to hear you lost another, I’m getting nervous I’ve got 2 past due and one due today, but the really older horses are not due until July I’ll be biting my nails then!
Being overdue doesn’t mean the mare or foal will die. Maiden mares and older mares are (slightly) more likely to lose foals or die themselves, though. (“Slight” is around 1% more likely, so don’t start panicking.)
Even at 17/18? The two mares I’ve lost last yr was 9 on ner 5th foal this yr a maiden age 7, that’s why I was worried for the older ones, but they are old hats at it.
Yes. Inexperienced mares and older (teenaged) mares have higher chances of premature, late, or aborted babies. The risk doesn’t go up beyond the standard “older” check, though (so a 15yo mare has the same odds as a 21yo one). The odds are still quite low, though.
Ty that eases my nerves a lot!
Two more babies, both healthy (thank goodness).
