Should we add broodmare shipping to the game?

So I’m about to start on the code to ship horses from track to track, and it occurred to me that, in real life, broodmares end up shlepping around as well, for breeding.

So…do we want to add this in to FF?  Once I get shipping code done, all stables will be required to set their farm location, and this would be where you ship your racers to for a break from the track, and where you’d ship your mares from.  (For mares going to studs, they would travel to the farm location of the stud’s owner.)

Pluses: It adds realism :wink:  (Plus, in the future - probably 2012 - I would like to incorporate state-bred races, where a race is only open to horses who were bred in certain locations…this would be based on the sire’s location at time of breeding, not the dam’s home base)
Minuses: Adds expense

How about shuttle stallions too?

Shuttle stallions would only apply if we had multiple breeding seasons, which we don’t.  :stuck_out_tongue:  I guess you could simulate them by selling your stud halfway through the breeding season if you want, but until/unless I add in separate farms/divisions of your stable, you can’t own a stud and have him in any location but where your farm is located.

True. And I suppose with only 15 breedings per year it is easier to just transfer the mare.

I say yes because I’m all for the realism, but hopefully it won’t hurt me later.  :slight_smile:
