That one place looks really cool. I’ll have to bookmark it, too.
I used to be really into Breyers…been collecting them since I was little. I remember saving up my allowance to buy them back when they came in those cool cardboard boxes instead of those plain plastic ones…also doing the photo shows and race meets through the mail. Good times. I also remember playing with them for hours with my sister…so some of them have that, um, well-loved look to them. Then I went to college and had to spend my money on frivolous things like tuition. Since then I’ve pretty much had to just store the poor guys in a big box in the garage until that happy day when I will be able to afford a decent set of shelves to put them all on again.
Seeing all the new stuff they have is mighty tempting, though. Maybe I should do Stablemates. I know I have room for those.
i know what you mean we move every 2-4 yrs and then i had kids now that my youngest is 7 i decided to get back into it and shes horse crazy now .lol… go figure… i used to still ahve some of those boxes , and mine are mostly in boxes too, i have wagons, sulkies, etc, i had draft harnesses made in trade for a paint job i did for someone, i used to show in two states, i even had a huge custom made stable that won two awards. so im hoping to get some of my stuff back in action, i need to dig my boxes out and make sure that the last two moves none have gotten broken , warped or melted, if so ill have lots of remakes to do.
My two 1991 models have that look to them. But they’re still in pretty good shape. I have Drinkers of the Wind and A Pony for Keeps. I’ve always wanted to buy the tack or blankets for my models maybe I should start now.
Wow, Breyers. I was such a breyer junkie but these past few years I haven’t purchased to many. This year I did finally get the Seabiscuit model and of course Smarty Jones, my favorite horse ever, other than mine of course.
I have some of the really old models, I have the original Secretariat, though unfortunately his leg is broken.
I can even remember my first breyer Clyde…gotta go find him.
Yea, now that this thread came up I’m going to be going breyer crazy all over again!
Though one thing I really want is to get a custom made horse. My friend is getting one done of her horse, I’ll have to get the info from her.
Ahhh yes, broken legs…my sis and I inflicted several of those on poor horses. Five-Gaiter, Smokey, Legionario III…the boys had it harder because we liked to pretend that they were ‘fighting’ each other to steal mares and defend their herds. What can I say, we were dorks.
After the first several times we got smarter about it, but accidents still happened – falls from shelves and such. So there are several of the poor critters that are not with us anymore.
I would have liked to get into the customizing/tackmaking a LOT more, but when I had the space I never had the money for supplies and tools, and now that I have a little more money, I don’t have the space. Maybe one of these days I’ll get it together.
I did go out and splurge on Skullduggery as a birthday/Halloween present for my BF (and myself). He LOVES Halloween and I heart the horses, so we have finally found a happy medium, there. Yay.
