NaNoWriMo 2006

lol Yay! I’m writing just to write… I might give it a try too. I really want to finish the novel I’ve been working on for… er… 3 or so years… ::)

Lol.  I had a pretty good first day, despite being stuck working.  I have a riding lesson tonight though, so I might lose my head start…

I think I did good yesterday. Achieved just under 3000 words. I hope I can keep the pace up!

Yeah, I used you as my motivation .  I told myself I had to write more than you did (mostly because you were the only one who had a word count up when I started). Maybe there’s something to the competition thing after all.

That’s too funny, because I’ve been keeping an eye on everyone’s word count too. I don’t wanna fall behind!

7,070 for today (total, that is, today’s writing total was 3,923).   Those last 2,000 words or so were tough, but I made it.

2 chapters down, who knows how many left to go.

1 chapter down… I was slacking yesterday… only got a couple hundred. That’s bad… lol It’s the inner editor in me, I keep rereading! I’m having a hard time plunging ahead without reading what I’ve already written to make sure it makes sense. How do you suppress this demon?

I just tell myself “sure, it’s crap, but that doesn’t matter 'cause until it’s 50,000 words of crap, it’s meaningless”  Seems to work ok so far…acknowledging the craptitude gives my inner critic much less to gripe about.

And then she takes it out on my poor story with problems like “Why would a pony be in the cavalry?”

Though I suppose explaining that could add to my word count…

See?  I’m being helpful.

I read your excerpt, Andrea  I really like it. It kinda reminds me of  Shaman’s Crossing by Robin Hobb – loved that book.

Wow, I’m really slacking… Good job to all those who aren’t though!  I have a goal to write 10,000 words this weekend.  I can usually go in spurts of a few hours, and maybe write two thousand words at a time, so I’ll plan it around my schedule and it will be good.

My momentum is rapidly disappearing.

Did manage over 1,700 words today (1,700 is my daily minimum goal), at least.  But I was hoping to be at 20k by today, and I’m only just over 16k.  Ah, well, there’s always tomorrow.

And at least I’m vaguely interested in my main character again.   No clue how I’m gonna stretch this story out for another 34,000 words, but hey, that’s a problem for another day.

Momemtum? What momentum? lol Mine disappeared days ago.

I just another jump kick… or something. Yesterday I sat there staying at my screen for about an hour and type only 200 words. Called it quits after that.

I did about 900 last night to put me right around 14k.  I’m hoping for a good, productive day today though.  (Helped out by the fact that my kitty’s getting neutered so I get to leave work early to pick him up ).

I finally joined as MangledButterflies, but I’m afraid I’m having doubts about my novel already, and I’ve barely started it X_x

I ended up doing a chapter outline with just like two or three sentences about what happened to each character in each chapter.  That got revised twice before the story made much sense, and now I’m apparently swapping the ‘main’ main character from one to another.   That’s what I like about NaNo, you can change the story completely in the middle and not worry about trying to rewrite the beginning.

I just inserted a “chapter” that had absolutely nothing to do with my story.  But now I’m beginning to kind of like the idea, so I may go back and add extra chapters like it.
