Ivy Creek's 2017 Foal Crop

Glad that you like the names.   I let my boyfriend name this one:

Another colt!

HAN YOLO - 8.3hh chestnut colt
SIRE: NCh. Joyeaux Oiseau (created)
DAM: Queen of Humor {B} (created)
This boy is a giant mystery.  He’s from an unproven sire, though dad was awesome on the track after a late maturity.  He did best at ages 4/5/6.  This is the first colt from the dam, who also had her best year at 4.  With this is mind, Han Yolo will likely be a late maturer, but I would love to be proven wrong on this.  His only 1/2 sibling to race was a winner at 2, with a 50% OTB so far.  Fingers crossed that he takes after her!
QUEEN OF HUMOR is visiting Sea the Stars for his first season.

17 colts | 8 fillies | 15 still due
1 stillborn

Hahahaha… That’s the absolute best name I’ve ever seen.

Glad you like it. I let him know that his name is a hit.  It’s part of my elaborate plan to slowly reel him into the game, ha! We shall see.

Haha that is DEFINITELY the greatest name I’ve seen.

We finally have another baby to announce, and in keeping with our trend, it’s a colt.  Thankfully both he & mom are healthy and happy, though.

GO TO EXTREMES - 8.1hh brown colt
SIRE: ICh. Demand The Best (WCh. Crystal Rainbow {S} x GCh. Go For Glory {P})
DAM: Uptown Girl {G} (created)
This colt is named for the Billy Joel song, “I Go To Extremes”, since momma’s name is another of his.  It seemed fitting.  I’m excited to see how Demand The Best does as a sire, but it is definitely the damline that makes this colt so exciting for me.  Uptown Girl has become one of my highest ranked broodmares, even though she was a no-name with nothing to lend her credit when I bought & retired her.  Her first two foals are stakes winning champions now.  Her third foal, a 2yo, is already placed.  The odds are pretty good for this little colt.
UPTOWN GIRL is visiting Drum Major this year.

18 colts | 8 fillies | 14 still due
1 stillborn

Nice colt.

Good luck with him.

Congrats! I hope he runs well for you.

Another baby, another boy.

SILENT STRIKE - 8.2hh strawberry roan colt
SIRE: WCh. Strike It Rich {S} (Strike The Gold {G} x Black Swan {P})
DAM: Sunday Living {B} (Sunday Silence {S} x Viva V {S})
This flashy little colt is my first by Strike It Rich, so I’m pretty excited for that.  His momma might not look too impressive at first glance, but she did manage to produce the stakes winning Ch. Six Ways To Sunday.  I haven’t gotten to run any of her offspring yet, and his yearling half sister (Hallelujah, by Express Yourself) will be my first shot to really evaluate how she produces.  Keep your fingers crossed!
SUNDAY LIVING has been sent to visit To Die For.  Hooray!

19 colts | 8 fillies | 12 still due
1 stillborn
1 mare sold in-foal (which means she will probably drop a filly now  ::))

Great name.

And he’s so pretty! Congrats.

Oooo nice name!

3 new babies have arrived, and…DRUMROLL…  All fillies!!!
This feels like winning the lottery after all those colts.

FAME IS FLEETING - 8.0hh black filly
SIRE: FFCh. TakeMeToHollywood {B} (What’s It Worth {P} x Hollywood Queen {P})
DAM: Just Fleet {B} (NCh. Fleet Street {S} x Just Like You {B})
This tiny filly is our first from this mare.  We purchased her for her lines to Fleet Street (our first connection).  Her first two foals to race are winners, and the 3rd hasn’t run in the last 2 years.  Who knows what might become of this little gal, but I’m excited to find out.  She’s from the same sire/broodmare sire as MSW Ch. Casting Couch, so here’s hoping!
JUST FLEET is visiting Eighteen Karat for her next foal.

COUNT YOUR GOLD - 10.0hh chestnut filly
SIRE: ICh. Count Me In {S} (Count Fleet {S} x Ch. Highland Dreamer {P})
DAM: Olympic Gold (created)
I’m happy to see such a sturdy looking filly from this cross.  Count Me In is proving himself as a sire, so I wanted a baby from him.  We still have no idea what Olympic Gold can produce, as her first foal is 2.  He’s a little smaller than we expect, though he’s no slouch at 16hh.  The mare was a multi-winner, though she never ran at 2 or 3.  Fingers crossed.
OLYMPIC GOLD is coming to see our home stud, Witness.

KEEPCALMANDCARRYON - 9.3hh bay filly
SIRE: FFCh. I’m No Fool (FFCh. Foolhardy {P} x Highland Gold {P})
DAM: ICh. Twilight Embers {S} (Ch. Irish River {G} x Evening Flame {P})
What’s not to love about this double HOTY cross?  I really could gush on about this filly, but her pedigree speaks for itself.  This is the third filly we’ve owned from this mare (one is a yearling).  Twilight Embers has started to produce, with her Alley Cat daughter, Ch. Ciao Bella, MSP and running well for us, as well as her Nightfight colt, Ch. Fight The Twilight, who is a MSWer.  She’s a keeper.
TWILIGHT EMBERS is visiting the main man himself, Foolhardy.

19 colts | 11 fillies | 9 still due
1 stillborn
1 mare sold in-foal

(PS: I still have a couple mares offered for sale in-foal on the sales forum if you hurry!  They are due soon.)

Love your names, as usual.

Love the names. Good luck with the Just Fleet filly. I own two of her half-sisters and they’re both pretty good producers (both have stakes level performers this year). Hope she follows suit.

Love all the names! Congrats on the healthy foals.

We’ve had an incredibly busy week at the farm.  Thankfully, everyone has been healthy so far.

Also, the Chivalry x Fleur’s Debate colt, formerly named Caradoc (after a knight of the Round Table) has been renamed X CALIBER for a nice play on words.  I think it suits him better.

JUSTAPLAYFULSOUL - 8.3hh bay colt
SIRE: GCh. One Lucky Soul (GCh. My Lucky Day {S} x Golden Legend {G})
DAM: Playful Breeze (NCh. I’m A Classic {S} x Lucky Breeze {S})
This little fellow stumped me for names.  I finally settled on this mouthful after much debate.  I’m excited to see how One Lucky Soul does as a sire.  Meanwhile, I’m A Classic is one of my favorites, so I’m curious to see how he does as a broodmare sire through this lightly raced mare.  This is her second foal.
PLAYFUL BREEZE is visiting WHAT’S YOUR POINT for next year’s baby, since her damline seems to cross well with Point Given’s blood.

EL DORADO - 8.1hh bay colt
SIRE: NCh. Eighteen Karat (What’s It Worth {P} x Heart of Gold {S})
DAM: Highland Treasure {S} (GCh. Highland Laird {S} x Harada’s Treasure {S})
I can’t resist going for the tried-and-true Worth/Rogue crosses.  Eighteen Karat is an exciting new stallion, while Highland Treasure has begun to prove herself through her multi-winning 3YO, Worth A Treasure.  Naming this colt after the city of gold just seemed logical.
HIGHLAND TREASURE has been sent to see CHANGELING for her next foal.

VIRTUOSO - 10.0hh dark bay colt
SIRE: NCh. Nobly Regal (Danzig {G} x Delightful Natalie {G})
DAM: Danzatore {B} (Danzig {G} x Last Challenge {B})
This colt is an experiment of sorts, inspired solely by a lack of funds to ship his dam from England combined with a lack of open bookings.  ::)  At least if you’re going to be “line-bred” (aka inbred, by my definition, at this level) to someone, it may as well be someone great, like Danzig.  His name derives from the Latin word, virtus, which means “skill, manliness, excellence”.  Here’s hoping that this proves to be true!  Two of his half brothers are stakes placed, anyway.
DANZATORE is visiting BLUE SMOKE next and is also FOR SALE.

Then, on June 10th, our luck changed, with 3 fillies born all together:

DECADENT - 9.0hh dark bay filly
SIRE: ICh. Witness {B} (Class Act {G} x Time For Truth {S})
DAM: Deign To Win {B} (created)
This is the first official Ivy Creek homebred by our first stallion, so we have much cause to celebrate.  I leased this mare because all of mine were booked up by the time I purchased Witness.  I’m a bit iffy on the mare, but her oldest is having a good season at age 4.  Her 3yo is by a stallion I don’t put much faith in, so I’m not bothered by that one.  I think that there is hope here, and I do believe that this filly can do well with proper management.  Both mom & dad look like they tend to throw late bloomers, so I’m happy to see her born at a respectable height.  I hope it bodes well for her chance to peak earlier in her career.
DEIGN TO WIN has returned to her owner, whose stable is now defunct, so she’s joined the masses at Final Furlong’s farm.

UNLUCKY PRIZE - 9.2hh brown filly
SIRE: GCh. One Lucky Soul (GCh. My Lucky Day {S} x Golden Legend {G})
DAM: Grama’s Prize (created)
This is the 3rd foal from this multi-winning mare, who holds 3 speed records from 9.5-12.5 furlongs.  She never ran before age 5, so I have no idea what she might have accomplished (or not) at age 2/3/4.  I’m HOPING she could have done well, and will pass that to her offspring.  Either way, I thought a bit of reverse psychology might not hurt…
GRAMA’S PRIZE is coming home to see our own stud, Witness.

WINDFOLA - 8.1hh chestnut filly
SIRE: WCh. Strider {G} (Highland Rogue {P} x Seeing Starz {P})
DAM: Catch A Glimpse {S} (created)
This pretty filly was technically bred by Final Furlong.  I purchased her dam primarily for this foal.  I was originally going to sell her afterwards, but I’m going to keep her as her offspring have begun to show their preference for winning lately.  As a result, I have pretty high hopes for this baby’s future.  She’s named after Eowyn’s horse - nevermind that he was a he, or that he was grey.  It translates to “wind foal”, to imply speed.
CATCH A GLIMPSE is visiting Candy Ride for 2018.

22 colts | 14 fillies | 3 still due
1 stillborn
1 mare sold in-foal

First, the WCh. King David x Ch. Cosmopolitan colt has been renamed YACHT CLUB.  The name is a bit more original than his former name, Aristocratic.

Finally, the last of our babies has arrived, and we suffered no more losses.  Now that everyone is here & healthy, we can all breathe a bit easier.

NO MAN’S LAND - 10.1hh light grey filly
SIRE: created
DAM: created
This mystery filly was an activity points redemption.  She’s pretty and tall, which means she probably won’t run.  :stuck_out_tongue:  Here’s hoping she’s somehow got talent, too!

INCOGNITO - 8.1hh blue roan colt
SIRE: ICh. Candidate {G} (What’s It Worth {P} x Dark Magic {P})
DAM: Springwalker {B} (created)
The boy is tiny, and his dam is only bronze-ranked.  At first sight, he might not seem impressive.  However, he’s 1/2 to stakes placed Ch. Flight of Spring, and his sire is difficult to ignore.  I think he’ll turn out to be a decent little runner.
SPRINGWALKER is visiting our in-house stallion, Witness.

RIVERGLEN - 8.3hh dark bay filly
SIRE: NCh. Carrowmore (Ch. Irish River {G} x Dark Miss {G})
DAM: Meadowlight {B} (created)
Not much is known about how this girl will actually run, but she sure is pretty and should wind up tall.  All of her half siblings have hit the board, with 2 of 3 being winners.  The only one I own, the 2YO colt by Silver Charm, is placed.  I’m not terribly worried by this, though, as he’s both a 2YO and by Silver Charm (who I’ve not had good luck with).  I like mysteries, and this girl will qualify for that.
MEADOWLIGHT is visiting our in-house stallion, Witness, as well.

Also, we have babies from all letters of the alphabet this year, which is something I’ve sort of been aiming for with each breeding season (hence previous crops having names like Zadar & Xcientist, ha).

For X…, look at catalan language  they have quite a lot of words starting with this letter… although they read it like “sh”. Wikipedia alphabetical index in catalan.

Good to know!
