Famous Studs 2030

I was just starting up some research for my 2030 breeding season and I notice Frankel has aged out of breeding age if famous stallions follow FF rules (>20 years). Not sure if they do, but it made me think that now might be a good time to see if the same famous studs will keep standing, or if some of them might make room for some new blood.

I don’t follow IRL racing a lot, but some possible new blood:

Life Is Good - stellar name, solid record and brings some new blood. Only FF stallions in his lines are a few generations up.

Essential Quality - doing quite well as a new sire in real and would bring some interesting lines into the game.

So You Think - just missed out on entering the FF ranks in 2028.

Sadly the real life So You Think passed away recently so I don’t think he’s eligible (a real shame as he was as a stunning stallion).

I would love to see the following studs added:

Tapit - #1 Active Sire by Lifetime G1W, GSW, Over $220M in progeny earnings

Practical Joke - Already sired 13 Stakes Winners in 2025 including Gr.1 winner Corsia Veloce

Into Mischief - A record-tying third Kentucky Derby winner in 2025 with Sovereignty. He’s currently ranked as the #1 sire in the US.

He certainly was. Such a shame that Coolmore lost him and Wootton Basset (who was also stunning) so close together.

I’d like to see an increase in the number of FF studs available, maybe another 5-10 added. There’s so many broodmares in the game and not actually that many active studs so I’d appreciate a few extra ones to be available.

I definitely wouldn’t mind having more RL studs added. For some reason it’s pretty difficult to qualify a stallion these days, and there are 12k broodmares. Not that we need to be able to breed ALL of those, but I did the math and we only have enough studs to breed like 2,500ish mares.

I also think there’s quite a few non-FF studs who’ve reached an age where the code could retire them so we could potentially loose a few of those over the next few seasons too.

I’m not opposed to increasing the number of famous studs in the game. I think we’ve been aiming for 10 but 15-20 would be fine, I think.

How difficult would it be to increase the number of breedings for each stallion for each time period? Maybe from 2 to 4?

As Willa pointed out, if we only have enough stallions to cover about 2,500 mares and we have about 12k broodmares, that would be a big help.

Throwing out:

Maurice, Australia HOY and a leading sire in both Australia and Japan. Bit older. Sunday Silence and Sadlers Wells in 4th gen, which might be far enough back to not be an issue in FF.

Can we bring back a retired FF horse? :sweat_smile: City of Light had 1 FF crop and that crop is doing great.

For realz, he’s ranked silver after 1 foal crop. One of my foals of his has 5 stakes wins! I would love to make an exception for some that have only had 1 foal crop.

In real life many top line stallions cover 100+ mares so upping FF to 60+ breedings shouldn’t hurt.

A couple to add to the mix.

Starman - champion first season sire in Europe this year.

Too Darn Hot - we’ve had his sire, Dubawi, in the game previously. TDH has made a promising start with his first crops in both Europe and Australia (eldest crop turn 5 in January). Damline is from the late Aga Khan’s families.
