Nice names

Overly Formal could become a High on Love though! He was inbred to Rouge

I’d vote gelding - personally I’d never breed to a horse with that much inbreeding, regardless of how nice a runner he might be.

Love the names.

Through the sire, though, not the dam. HOL (who was bred accidentally  ordinarily I try for 2x3 or further out with linebreeding) is 2x2 to Rogue, and no one else. This guy is 2x2 to Jacket Required, 3x3 to Class Act, and 3x3 to Boston’s Best. That’s a LOT more inbreeding (plus the general “ick” factor of breeding half-siblings, for me).

Too close for comfort for me also but he is pretty though

Don’t geld him, please!  It is certainly more inbreeding than I would ever actively choose, but I wouldn’t think that would make him a leper.  I know that in tradition, being related by dam makes two horses more “closely” related, but statistically, it makes up the same percentage of the bloodline.  At least she’s a pretty outstanding mare to be doubly related to.  And even if he carries such a close relation in his pedigree, any hypothetical offspring would have it pushed back a generation.

I wouldn’t rule out breeding to him any more than on HOL, personally, assuming he is an outstanding runner and sound.  I think you ought to wait and see.  But I certainly wouldn’t be sending any Jacket or Class Act relations his way, that’s for sure!
