9/8

Very disappointing day. Sent out 8 runners, no winners, 2 seconds, no thirds, 1 fourth. Not worth wasting my time on reporting on each of today’s Starfish runners, except to say that if some of them don’t pick up their performances, they won’t be Starfish horses much longer.

No wins either, but I still have some hope for all of these

Best performance was from [color=red]Chalula One, a 2yo filly that is always in the money, although without a win. But her progress is really nice. She finished 2nd/14 in a usually crowded maiden for fillies.

Other two 2yo fillies, [color=red]Hadriana and [color=red]Belle of Portugal, finished 3rd and 4th against some colts. Hadriana ran a Grade 1 stakes race just before this one, and looks like she improved since then, but both fillies will run more seriously next year.

Another combo were two 3yo fillies, [color=red]Ellejolet and [color=red]Cabernet. This time they finished 4th and 5th. Apparently Ellejolet is better every time, although Cabernet seems to have more royal pedigree and her price was higher.

There were also two colts running, 3yo [color=blue]Click and Play and 2yo [color=blue]Garito, but their performances were terrible. :stuck_out_tongue:

Same here sent out 13 and had 2  fourths and 2 fifths ! Bah! Time for an auction! Every time I sell someone they do better.

Mixed results today, my stakes runner was a bit of a disappointment but i’ve run him alot, think it’s time for a break!
Sent 12 out, 3 wins, 1 2nd, 1 3rd and 1 4th

Wins
[color=blue]Highland Bound (2yo, Highland Bandit) in a NW3 allowance. This was his second start, first time on turf and he seems to love the turf!
[color=red]Diamonds In Air (3yo, The Black) FINALLY BROKE HER MAIDEN! Woohoo! About time. I tried her on a longer distance with a bit more equipment. Hopefully she keeps it up
[color=red]Kiss For Luck (3yo, Slew O` Scots) in a NW3 allowance. Very happy with that. She hasn’t been running well so I took off her equipment to start from scratch, she liked being equipment free!

Places
[color=blue]Political Risk (2yo, Giant’s Causeway) in a NW3 allowance

Shows
[color=red]Angel Of Mine (2yo, I’m Your Angel) in a NW3 allowance. This filly has been consigned to the Semiahmoo Stables Auction next week

4ths
[color=red]Heavens To Betsy (2yo, High Chances) in a NW3 allowance. Unfortunately she obtained a cut on her leg and will be on rest for a bit.

Not a bad day at all 7 runners and 5 brought home a paycheque!

Won:

  • [color=red]Jazz dancer 12f turf allowance. she really loves the longer distances and I regret I haven’t been able to run her properly this year
  • [color=blue]Kaos 10.5 f dirt, I haven’t made the best of this versatile boy. he has won over all distances and on both surfaces. I may have to see how he goes in stakes company

Placed:

  • [color=blue]Zafiro 6f G3 Floral Park stakes. very pleased with his performance as this was his first graded stakes.

Fourth:

  • [color=blue]High on Romance 10f allowance. I had very high hopes of this horse  but I never seem to have got the best from him. gelding does not seem to have helped so he may be retires next year
  • [color=blue]Zenith 9.5f allowance. Not too disappointed, Zenith has been OTB in all his races this year and his breeding suggests that he will reach is best around 4yo

Three today.

[color=blue]Evil Rumors has really been kicking a** this year. He ran in 6.5f Allowance for 4yo+ (D) and placed 1st/7. Time for a stakes, perhaps? Great mixed auction purchase!

[color=blue]Acapulco Gold continues the mediocrity saga. He ran in 9.5f NW3 Allowance for 3yo (T) and placed 4th/7.

[color=red]Wanderlust took a bit of a fall after her success in her last race. She ran in 10.5f Allowance for 4yo+ (D) and placed 7th/12.

This was perhaps our best day ever.  I sent out 10 runners, and came back with 9 wins.  :astonished:

2YO [color=blue]Laudri (Point Given) finally broke his maiden in a NW1.

2YO [color=red]Nicole’s Majic (A.P. Indy) won her NW3 - her 3rd win in a row of 7 lifetime starts, and by far earning her highest speed factor yet.  Perhaps there is a stakes race in her future.

2YO homebred [color=red]Sweet Home Alabama (I’m A Classic) had her second start, and second win.  This girl is a monster, and I am so, so glad to see it.  Definitely, definitely going to aim her for stakes races soon.

Mixed auction purchase, 5YO [color=red]Indywind (A.P Indy) had her first start in almost a year, winning her NW3 with an impressive speed factor of 225.  Holy cow.  I bought her as a future brood prospect, but I’m happy to see her do well on the track - especially since she is down in Aus.

3YO homebred [color=red]Girlfight (Nightfight) won her NW3, earning a speed factor of 209.  I’m still trying to figure out just what makes this girl tick, but I’m glad to see that the talent is there.

2YO homebred [color=red]Coquette (Bellagio) won in her open allowance, bumping her up to Champion status.  Hooray!

3YO [color=blue]Dawson’s Rudge (A.P. Indy) won, finally breaking his maiden after a change of equipment.  Fingers crossed that it will continue to help.

Another mixed auction purchase, 5YO Foxy Ruby (Gallant Fox) made her first start in nearly 2 years, winning in fine style.  She was purchased along the same premise as Indywind - as a broodmare, not so much as a runner for today.  She was good 2 years ago - I’m glad to see she’s still got it.  If anything, I so love to have long-lasting talent in the brood band to pass on to the next generation.  With today’s win, she made more than enough money to purchase her ticket back stateside from Aus.

4YO [color=blue]Triomphe (Magic Glory) won the G3 Floral Park - his 3rd stakes win this year.  He’s a longshot stallion candidate, but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t still hopeful.  :stuck_out_tongue:  In time, we shall see.

Only 2YO homebred D’angelo was off the board, remaining unplaced in his second start.  He still looks like a baby, though.
