Start the hallelujah chorus! [color=red]She’s Gawne ran in 7.0f Maiden for 3yo+ (SC) and placed 1st/6! After 26 starts, she finally broke her maiden!
My first homebred, [color=red]Cathedral, ran in 10.5f Allowance for 3yo+ F/M (T) and placed 1st/8! She’ll always be my little girl.
[color=blue]Gallant Affair ran in 10.0f Allowance for 4yo+ (T) and placed 3rd/6. He reliably makes money, but just isn’t even close to stud worthy. Maybe it’s time to geld.
[color=red]Nautilus ran in 5.0f Maiden for 2yo F (D) and placed 6th/8. Still unplaced.
[color=blue]Field of Diamonds FINALLY broke his maiden! It took 32 starts, but he ran 1st/6 in a Starter. He has done super well this year, though, hitting the board 11 of 17 times.
[color=blue]Celebroch managed a 4th/6 in an OA.
9 Runners sent out today. Generally good performances all around.
1 Winner [color=blue]Ch. Rebel Brother, (4yo, Backseat Driver x Movie Mistress) 1/7 in an OA at Belmont. He will be shipped home for a rest then back to Belmont for the Breeder’s Cup.
4 Seconds [color=red]Back St. Flight, (2yo, Major’s Flight x Back Streets) 2/8 in an NW2 at Arlington. [color=blue]Londesborough Boy, (3yo, Lasting Spirit x Painted Desert) 2/11 in an OA at Belmont. He will have one more race and, depending on his performance in that race, plus his ranking, he might be headed to the Breeder’s Cup. [color=blue]Keyboard, (3yo, War Chant x Lady of Mystery) 2/10 in the G3 Adelaide Birthday Cup in Australia. [color=blue]GCh. In The Navy, (5yo, Man O’War x Dayatthebeach) 2/10 in the G3 N.E. Manion Quality Cup in Australia. He will be shipped home for a rest then to Belmont for the Breeder’s Cup.
1 Third [color=red]Saucy Magician, (2yo, Magic Glory x Kinda Sassy) 3/10 in the G3 Arlington-Washington Futurity at Arlington. She will have one more race and, depending on her performance in that race, plus her ranking, she might be headed to the Breeder’s Cup.
1 Fourth [color=red]Beautiful Rumor, (3yo, Rumor Has It x Sunset Beauty) 4/8 in an OA at Woodbine.
2 Also Rans [color=blue]Hogsmeade, (2yo, Highland Magic x Blarneystone Lane) 7/7 in an NW3 at Woodbine. [color=blue]Ch. Painted Raven, (4yo, Slew O’ Scots x Painted Desert) 5/10 in the G1 Vosburgh Stakes at Belmont. He will be shipped home for a rest then to Belmont for the Breeder’s Cup.
We had two fillies at the races, and they both did great.
2yo [color=red]Gentle Charlotte won a maiden for fillies, in her fifth race. I got her very cheap at the auction and she’s running great. She made her dam Bronze ranked with this win.
3yo [color=red]Ch. Crownette ran 4th/11 in an open allowance for 3yo. Good performance, too.
4YO leased mare, [color=red]Kissing Point (x Point Given), won her open allowance. That’s her 4th win in a row, over both surfaces. The girl is unstoppable now that we’ve learned a bit about her! She needs a stakes race soon.
2YO homebred [color=red]Holy Smokes (Holy Bull) ran 2nd in her NW2, after switching back to turf (she broke her maiden last time out on dirt). This was only her third ever start, so I’m terribly pleased with this girl.
I claimed 4YO [color=red]Syrah (Bold Ruler) due to her daddy - she’s been a relative dud on the track, earning a 5th today. I am hoping she just takes more after her damline in that she prefers jumps - that’s where I’ll be trying my luck, once we get her sorted out. First, she’s headed to the farm for a rest.
And 2YO homebred, [color=blue]D’angelo (Strider) was an also-ran, way back in 7th. Frustrating boy.
Our lease from Ivy Creek, [color=blue]Fight The Twilight (Nightfight), won his first stakes today in the G3 Arlington-Washington Futurity Stakes. Glad to see this boys got his legs under him now. I think he’ll really bloom at 3.
[color=blue]Sponsored finished 3rd in the Jocky Club Gold Cup despite going in a bit out of shape. It’s tough when a horse drops in fitness so close to a race.
I have the opposite problem - I have 29 yearlings and 39 weanlings, so I’ll try to avoid the foal auction, or at least keep it to a minimum… And my ponies have been doing abnormally well this year, so I’ve got more money than ever (though still not a “fortune” to the biggest of stables, I’m sure), so I find myself taking gambles I might not otherwise take. Fingers crossed for a lovely future brood…but I’d prefer if she showed just a little more talent on the track first!
I’m looking at my racehorse numbers, and already trying to plot how to get it down to a more reasonable number once the yearlings come aboard… I’ve got a small handful of mares I’m looking to race some more, then possibly retire. Just trying to get them some major achievements, first! She joins those ranks.
