8/22

Sent out 14 and a few brought home money

Places
[color=red]Cats Lucky Day (my lucky day) 2/f Nw-3
[color=blue]Pride of Hollywood Wet turf OA 3yo

Shows
[color=blue]Height of Darkness slow turf 10f OA, guess he likes distance.
[color=blue]Whatsinaname (worth my while) in an Nw-3 2yo

4ths again another day where my horses liked this position.
[color=green]Viva Las Vegas in his longest 14f race to date, this guy just keeps bringing home a check for mom! :slight_smile:
[color=red]Nightlit Haze in the G-1 Alabama stakes , she just seemed to go along for the run today, but it brings her only 5 pts to grand champion and almost a millionaire! :slight_smile:
[color=red]Journeys End was in the lead right to the finish then fell back in the G-2 Set in her ways stakes, leading her stablemate below to the wire.

5th
[color=red]Mi Amore followed her stablemate above to the finish in the G-2 set in her ways stakes

The streak of some pretty good days stumbled a bit today. Not bad overall, but less than half hit the board.

[color=blue]Field of Diamonds needed more running room but managed 4th/6 in a NW1.
[color=red]Witch’s Point ran 2nd/6 in a NW1, trying turf for the first time.
[color=red]Irish Miss ran 3rd/6 in her NW3.
[color=red]Hot Nurse made me very happy and finished 2nd/9 in her OA.
[color=blue]Rocket Smoke made me super very happy and bounced out of his slump for a 2nd/9 finish in an OA, trying 13f+ for the first time.
[color=green]Legal Strategy was a slight disappointment but ran an honest 4th/12 in an OA.

Also-rans: [color=blue]Eteelya (6th/6; heading home), [color=red]Anne Boleyn (7th/9; will be shortened), [color=red]Final Point (10th/12; most likely destined for broodmare duty next year), [color=blue]Kindred Romance (7th/9; 2yo), [color=blue]Paris Song (6th/9; 2yo), [color=red]Daytona Weekend (6th/11; I don’t think she liked the wet track and needed more distance).

Decent day today, sent 7 out, 5 in the money

Wins
[color=blue]Hubble (3yo, Point Given) In an open allowance. This is his 4th win in a row! Very pleased with my $5000 claimer, I think it’s time to enter him in a stakes

[color=blue]GCh. Sunday Paper (4yo Sunday Silence) in the Del Mar Handicap. This was his first race back on North American soil, glad the travel went well. He is now a GCh. with 6 stakes wins this season

Shows
[color=blue]Fruitloop (4yo, Easy Goer) in an allowance. He’s being a bit of a flake lately, might try some different equipment

4ths
[color=blue]Naval Commander (2yo, I’m Your Angel) in an allowance.

[color=blue]Ace Of Hearts (5yo, Highland Magic) in the Del Mar Breeders’ Cup Handicap. A bit disappointed since he won his last 6 starts (all stakes), he may just need some time off.

Edited to add the GCh. Ace Of Hearts is qualified to stud now, I for some reason thought that to qualify you need at least 10 stakes wins, after reading the FAQ I realized that wasn’t the case. He has 8 wins and 6 2nds/3rds with 2 G1 wins :slight_smile:. Not that I plan to retire him yet but its pretty exciting!

;D

[color=red]GCh. The Woman In Black won the Grade 2 Set In Her Ways Stakes, a steeplechase race on wet track. This is her second Grade 2 win, and previous one was on dirt!
[color=red]
Embellished finished 2nd in the Grade 1 Alabama Stakes, in great company! And lost by a nose! This was worth all the waiting as she was always one year behind other horses.

[color=red]Lacune finished 2nd in her NW3 allowance steeplechase, with her best speed figure. Wonderful day.

11 Runners, 2 Wins, 4 Thirds, 1 Fourth, 4 Also Rans

Winners
[color=blue]Major’s Insight, (5yo, Major’s Flight) 1/12 in an OA at Woodbine. His 2nd win for this year, sandwiching a string of 8 unplaced performances.
[color=blue]GCh. Lucky Sunset, (5yo, Red Sunset) 1/10 in the G1 Arlington Million at Arlington. His 4th consecutive win (all SW, including 2 G1W) and his 5th win for this year. This win pushed him into the Millionaire Class and he became the 4th Starfish Stables horse to break the $1m mark for this year. He needs two more SW and 1 additional SP to become stud-qualified.

Thirds
[color=red]Major Dreams, (2yo, Major’s Flight) 3/8 in an NW3 at Calder.
[color=red]GCh. Princess Kaiulani, (4yo, Worth the Wait) 3/10 in the G1 Arlington Million at Arlington, behind stable companion [color=blue]GCh. Lucky Sunset. She needs $2,500 in earnings to become a Millionaire.
[color=blue]Hogwarts, (3yo, Magic Glory) 3/10 in the G1 Travers Stakes at Saratoga.
[color=red]Ch. Last Nights Jitter, (4yo, Major’s Flight) 3/10 in the G2 Set In Her Ways Stakes at Churchill Downs.

Fourth
[color=blue]GCh. AndLikeThatHesGone, (4yo, Major’s Flight) 4/10 in the G2 Del Mar Handicap at Del Mar.

Also Rans
[color=blue]Contristo (L), (3yo, Stressed) 6/6 in an OA at Woodbine.
[color=blue]Getoutofmyway, (2yo, Slew O’Scots) 5/9 in an NW3 at Arlington.
[color=blue]GCh. Attheheartofitall, (6yo, Alydar) 10/10 in the G2 Del Mar Breeders’ Cup Handicap at Del Mar. He will be tried over fences to see if that can get him his last SW to get him stud-qualified.
[color=blue]GCh. Cup O’ Tea, (5yo, Stagehand) 6/10 in the G1 Chipping Norton Stakes in Australia.

Ten stakes wins used to be the requirement, but it must have proved to be too stringent, because it was later cut back a bit.  :slight_smile: Congratulations!

My horses love counting.  :stuck_out_tongue:

[color=red]Wanderlust ran in 12.0f Allowance for 4yo+ F/M (T) and placed 1st/9. She’s quickly becoming a lovely asset to our stable after claiming her just a month ago.

[color=green]Surak ran in 12.0f Allowance for 3yo+ (SC) and placed 2nd/12. Not bad for an old guy!

[color=blue]Bold Dreams ran in 7.5f NW2 Allowance for 3yo+ (T)  and placed 3rd/6. So far, he’s consistently third.

[color=red]She’s Gawne ran in 10.5f NW3 Allowance for 3yo F (SC) and placed 4th/6. Anything that earns money is good for her. Still a maiden after an embarrassing 24 starts.

[color=red]Delightful Queen ran in 12.5f Allowance for 3yo+ (T) and placed 5th/6. I think I’ve decided turf is literally a no-go for her.

[color=blue]Acapulco Gold ran in 11.0f Allowance for 3yo (D) and placed 6th/6. Gelding seems imminent.

Congrats!

Good day, but also frustrating. :wink:

Two out, both in stakes - both finished 2nd.

Major yay for [color=red]Arizona Dream in the Chairman’s Club Plate, as it’s her first stakes place in over a year.

Major head-shake for [color=blue]Lord Nelson in the Arlington Million, who needs one more SW to qualify for stud. :wink: (On the plus side, at least he only needs one more SP, too.)

Whoo for Arizona Dream!
