4/6

Another successful 2yo. I didn’t expect her to win!

[color=red]Fights Just Begun (2yo, Rahy) placed 2nd in her maiden for 2yo fillies.

[color=red]Crosspoint (4yo, Point Given) placed 3rd/13 in an NW2 allowance.  I might try her over dirt in her next race.

Also ran: [color=red]Analeigh (3yo, Dark Continent), in an NW1, and [color=green]Cortez The Killer (7yo, Created) in a Claimer

Good day today!

Wins

[color=blue]Great Britain, 1/6 in a SC NW2. It also helps matters that he won by 6 3/4 lengths. I claimed him for 5k a while back on a total whim, as he hadn’t lifted a hoof - he’d been last or second to last in every race he’d ever run. I switched him to SC, and this is his second win in as many starts.

Places

[color=blue]Stealing Home, 2/6 in an OA. Not at all bad, in my opinion! I claimed him for 10k a while back.

[color=blue]Raptus, 2/6 in a 20k Claiming, stays at the farm.

[color=blue]Dethroned, 2/10 in the Frederico Tesio Stakes for 3yo. Not bad at all! This made him Mult. Stakes Placed just when I was thinking I should call it quits on the Stakes with him. He’s certainly changed my mind now.

Fourths

[color=blue]Hello Seattle, 4/14 in an NW3 for 2yo. Not a bad first start, all in all.

Also ran: [color=red]Astrophysics, 9/14 in her first race. Hoping to get something better from her in the future.
[color=red]Fine Design, 7/14 in hers. Something tells me she wasn’t on top form in this race. Usually her times are great.
[color=blue]Star Wizard, 9/14 in his 3yo maiden. No excuses. I don’t know what happened… he just never really fired, I suppose.

Hidden Oak - congrats on Dethroned’s stakes place! I’ve been kicking myself ever since I risked him in a claimer. I’ll probably send his 2yo half-brother to the track next month if he’s grown more.

Sent out 7 and 5 hit the board! Our only bombs were two ungraded stakes gambles so we’re not entirely heartbroken.

[color=blue]Greatkingsofmen (Highland Laird) finished 1st/6 in his NW2; he’s now won 2 straight. Hopefully a stakes next time out!
[color=red]Witch’s Point (Point Given) bounced back with a 1st/6 in a 20k claimer and stays home.

[color=blue]Breakfast in Bed (Harvard Bound) ran 2nd/6 in his NW2.
[color=blue]Rock Stardom (Devil May Care) was 2nd/9 in a 20k claimer and stays home.

[color=green]Armageddon (Stagehand) stepped out of claimers and finished 3rd/9 in a NW2.

Our also-rans were [color=blue]Nindalf (Hope to Succeed; 7th) and [color=blue]Dandywine (Highland Bandit; 10th) in the Ungr.  Fire Plug Stakes.

I sent out 3:

[color=red]Indywind (6yo, A.P. Indy) won her claimer, but is still 2 points shy of a title.  I was planning to breed her ASAP, but she is SO CLOSE to a title - hopefully I can get her into another race within the week (awful, I know) so she won’t miss the booking I had to transfer…

[color=red]Ch. Queen Catarina (3yo, King David) won her first stakes race, the ungraded Star Shoot Stakes.  Now both of her dam’s runners so far are champions and stakes winners.  Definitely proud of this girl, and her momma!

[color=red]Foxy Ruby (6yo, Gallant Fox) was a dismal 6th in her OA, but she led in first during the first half of the 18f marathon.  She will be sticking to shorter races from here on.  She’s 9 pts from a title.

8 runners sent out today, 4 of which were 2yos. The 2yos all bombed, the others did well.

2 Wins
[color=red]Ch. Office Hours, (3yo, Alley Cat x Wonderful Dreams) 1/10 in the G3 Jester Stakes in Australia. Her 4th win in a row, all coming this year, the last 3 being SW. Unfortunately, all of her wins have been over shorter distances, 5 fur, 5.5 fur & 6 fur, and there are not a lot of Stakes races for 3yo+ over these distances. We might try her in the Kentucky Oaks even though it is at a much longer distance.
[color=blue]Ch. Bracton, (3yo, Rumor Has It x Lady of Honour) 1/10 in the G3 Carbine Club Stakes in Australia. His 5th win in a row, the last 4 (all SW, including 1 G1W) all coming this year. This put his earnings for this year over the $2m mark. He will be heading to England for their Triple Crown.

1 Second
[color=blue]Ch. Magic Roundabout, (3yo, Magic Glory x What’s That About) 2/10 in the G3 Carbine Club Stakes in Australia, behind stable-companion [color=blue]Ch. Bracton. He earned his ‘Ch’ status with this race. He too will be heading to England for their Triple Crown.

Also Ran (non-2YO)
[color=blue]Hogsmeade, (3yo, Highland Magic x Blarneystone Lane) 5/12 in the Ung Fire Plug Stakes at Pimlico.

Since my ponies are making a great start for April, I’ll report their doings for a change.  Probably should have on Wednesday, with 14 out and 12 in the money, but today’s record was better: 11 out, 11 in the money!

Wins

[color=red]So She Sleeps (4, Must Be Magic), who has been something of a thorn in my side for a while.  An equipment adjustment left her in the winner’s circle after a 10.5f NW2.  Hopefully she’ll repeat next time out.

[color=blue]Drill Sergeant, a created 2yo, won his 5.0 NW3.  This is the best season I’ve had with regard to my 2yo crop.  Still have 6-7 to debut, I think.

[color=red]Athyka (3, Stressed) bought off the boards a while back, continues to impress, though she could do with a bit more consistency.  She finished on top in her 9.0f Allowance.

[color=red]Copano Bay (4, Point Given), on the other hand, continues to be consistent despite a little surface-switching.  She earned Ch. status in a 9.5f Allowance for 3yo+ F/M.

[color=blue]Runaway War (3, War Chant) punched his ticket to the Kentucky Derby (my first potential entry since joining FF!) when he won the Ungr. Federico Tesio Stakes.  I was wondering about him when he tanked in the Fountain of Youth, but now I think it was probably more because I ran him on low energy.  Oops.  He also earned Ch. status and became a MSW.

[color=red]Je Ne Sais Quoi (3, What’s Your Point), a filly I claimed in January, has earned her tag back several times over.  She’s now won 4 in a row, the latest being the Gr. 2 Wakeful Stakes for 3yoF.  I can’t wait to see what she has in store.

Second(s)

[color=red]Moving Blackwards (2, Black Light II) was a bargain in the yearling auction last year and did really well her first time out.  She only missed by 1/4 length against mixed company.

[color=red]Tothemoonandback (3, created), another former yearling auction purchase, is almost always in the money.  She’s MSP, though runner-up this time in her 8f Allowance.

[color=red]One Quiet Moment (2, created), I think was another auction purchase.  Another debut here, though she wasn’t as close at the wire.

Fourths

[color=red]Lavender Monument (2, created) was definitely an auction baby.  I picked her up at the most recent one, as a matter of fact.  Still something of a wild card, but not bad for her first race!

[color=red]Five Rivers (3, Alley Cat) ran in the same Allowance as Copano Bay.  Looks like she might need a rest after a busy start to the year.  We’ll see how her workouts go the next few days and consider some equipment as well.

Good day for us, overall.

WIN:
[color=blue]Bravado (2yo, Foolhardy) in a maiden. Super excited about this boy as he’s the first foal from MSW mare Make A Difference.

PLACES:
[color=blue]Just Because (2yo, Giant’s Causeway) in a NW2. He’s 1/2 to SW Noble Queen and SP Hidden King and Highland Star.

[color=red]Cassiopeia (2yo, Strike It Rich) in a NW3. Cricket Hill-bred, this filly is half-sister to SW Pie in the Sky.

SHOW:
[color=red]Chasingromance (3yo, Gunningdownromance) in an OA.

FOURTH:
[color=red]Oscurit

Really meh day today.

[color=red]Quorra ran third in a 6.5f dirt NW3 for 3YOs. She’s been OTB in all of her starts this year, which makes me very happy. Probably gonna stretch her out a bit for her next start and see if that’ll work.

[color=red]Scottish Time bombed in her first start over the hurdles, trailing the field at every call in a 10.5f SC NW2. She hasn’t made a single buck this year so we’re retiring her prematurely. The Highland Laird mare is up for lease for 5k.

[color=red]Ember’s Glow finished tenth in an absurdly fast 13f dirt maiden for 3YO+. I no longer have time to spend figuring her out so she’s now up for sale to new members .

2YO [color=blue]End Of Line ran 7th in a 5f dirt NW3. Next up, tinkering with equipment and possibly trying him on turf.

Only sent out 1 horse and ended up claiming 1.

Win

[color=green]Motifs (4yo by What’s Debatable)  finished 1st/6 in his $5k claiming race & came home with us. Excited to see what he does, he’s raced 4 times this year & has finished 1st 3 times.

Place
[color=blue]Machair (3yo by Point Given) finished 3rd/14 in a Turf Maiden, overall I’m happy he at least placed.
