3/27

Congrats to [color=blue]Ch. Batista for winning the Dubai World Cup! I keep my fingers crossed for Animal Kingdom’s win in real life.

[color=red]Akasha finished 2nd/6 in her steeplechase sprint. She’s bred for slightly longer distance, but this race was just right in time for her.

I also claimed a 3yo filly [color=red]Gentle Words, and she was 3rd/6 in that claimer. Her dam Ch. Fickle Fortune is a multiple stakes winner and her sire is NCh. The Fighting Fifty which we really like; at Clicker Lab there are two other fillies and a yearling by this stud. We’ll only need to ship her home from Australia.  ::)

Sent out 10 and half hit the board, but our 2 stakes chances were in those board placings!

[color=blue]Nindalf (Hope to Succeed) finished 1st/6 in his OA.

[color=blue]Dandywine (Highland Bandit) ran 2nd/7 in his NW1.

[color=green]A Knight’s Tale (Must Be Magic) made us super proud and ran 3rd/10 in the G2 Portrero Grande Breeders’ Cup Handicap. Not too bad for a horse who ran in 3 claimers this year, already!

[color=green]Vuela Vuela (Point Given) ran 4th/12 in his NW3.
[color=green]Red Dog (Almost Home) was 4th/10 in the G2 Gulfstream Park Handicap. He definitely prefers longer.

Also-rans: [color=red]Ekosian (5th/12, OA),[color=red] Temple Maid (6th/12, NW3), [color=green]Rocket Smoke (9th/12, OA), [color=red]Witch’s Point (11th/14, OA), and [color=red]Hot Nurse (12th/14th, OA). Hot Nurse will be given time off in hopes of bouncing back in late summer/early fall. If she doesn’t, she’ll join next year’s broodmare band.

Black Storm West bids a racing farewell to [color=green]Ch. Rocket Smoke, who was retired today. Rocket Smoke is a dark gray son of NCh. Slew O’Scots (S) out of the Magic Man (B) mare, Ch. Magic Girl (S). We claimed him as an unraced 3yo for $5,000 and he went on to bank $942,700, winning the G2 Brooklyn Handicap, Ungr. Star De Naskra Stakes,  Ungr. Sir Barton Stakes, and running 2nd in the G1 Kentucky Derby, G2 Robinson Stakes, and G2 Churchill Downs Handicap. This year he failed to collect even a penny and had begun losing form as a 4yo, so it was decided to let him get fat in the pasture. Thanks for the awesome run, boy!

Pretty good day, though a bit light on the wins.

Wins
Notachanceinheck (High Chances, 5yo) was our only winner at Dubai (and at the track this week). He picked up his 5th SW and earned a cool million+ (I think) for his win in the 12f Dubai Sheema Classic.

Places
Nighttime Strider (Strider, 3yo) came in 2nd at the Dubai Duty Free.
Higher Agenda (Highland Bandit, 5yo) was 2nd in her Gr. 3

Shows
Sweet as Honey (High Chances, 4yo) hung on for 3rd in the Dubai World Cup.
Jester’s Crown (Foolhardy, 3yo) was 3rd in the Godolphin Mile.
Toast of the Town (TakeMeToHollywood, 5yo) was 3rd in her Gr. 2
Bandit’s Love (Highland Bandit, 4yo) was 3rd in her OA.

Color By Numbers (High Chances, 3yo) and Black Cherry (High Chances, 4yo) were 4th in their respective races at Dubai.

The rest of the undercard was off the board.

The highlight of the day, however, didn’t happen on the track directly. We’re super, super, super excited to announce that High Chances has finally hit gold-status. Granted, this will disappear once the 2yos start running, but we’ve been waiting a long time for this day.

OK day, sent 19 out, 11 were on the board. Had higher hopes for some of my stakes ponies but oh well!

Wins
[color=blue]Criminal Secret (3yo, Foolhardy) won his open allowance. He is shaping into a lovely little runner!

[color=blue]Alister (3yo, Octagonal) won his NW3 allowance. Finally broke his maiden, yay! Took some equipment fiddling

[color=red]Ch. Uncanny Yodel (5yo, Highland Bandit) won the Next Move Handicap, switched her equipment up as well. She’s still got it!

[color=blue]Ch. Lake Highlands (4yo, Highland Bandit) had his first stakes win winning the Gulfstream Park Handicap. His 3rd win in a row! He is also now a champion

Places
[color=blue]In A Pickle (3yo, Whats Your Point) in a maiden, he likes runnin second!

[color=red]Solo Sunset (4yo, War Chant) ran 2nd in the Portrero Grande Breeders’ Cup Handicap. Very happy with this as it was a long race, she’s used to races in the 7-9 furlong range.

Shows
[color=blue]Angelius (4yo, I’m Your Angel) in an open allowance, tried an equipment change…

[color=blue]Another Nobody (3yo, Void) in an open allowance

[color=blue]Fruitloop (5yo, Easy Goer) in the Next Move Handicap behind uncanny yodel.

4ths
[color=blue]Adena Brave (4yo, Boldness Shows) in an open SC allowance

[color=red]Eloquently (4yo, Strider) in the Orchid Handicap

Buying rather than racing today  ::) Successfully claimed [color=red]Morgawse, a 5yo by Highland Wizard. She hadn’t raced since 3 but finished 2nd in her claimer with a decent SF. Record stands at 3 wins and 4 seconds from 10 starts. Out of a Cross Roads mare, she should make a nice future broodmare.

I shot for the moon today… Missed and backfired completely.

[color=green]Ch. Flight Line ran in 9.0f Starter Allowance for 3yo+ (SC) and placed 1st/8. At least someone ran their heart out today.

[color=green]Ch. Gallant Affair ran in 10.0f Gr. 2 Gulfstream Park Handicap for 4yo+ (D) and placed 6th/10. Almost in the money… Gelding didn’t help, he’s still allergic to stakes.

[color=green]Ch. GoToThe Devil ran in 8.0f Gr. 3 Next Move Handicap for 4yo+ and placed 7th/12. I thought the distance cut would help…

[color=blue]Ch. Alfresco ran in 6.0f Gr. 1 Dubai Golden Shaheen for 3yo+ and placed 7th/10. He lost against much greater horses than he. My dreams of studification are slipping away, since his prime seems to be over already.  :'( He didn’t win me any money to ship him home.

[color=green]Irish Muldoon ran in 13.0f Ungr. Caltech Handicap for 4yo+ (SC) and placed 8th/9. Not even ungraded? Come on, run like your pedigree says you should!  :stuck_out_tongue:

The prices of these races were really an investment, and I really thought I might see some results. I’m sorely disappointed and now with a huge hole in my wallet. Need to consider selling some of my stock.

Congrats to Ch. Batista for winning the Dubai World Cup. We missed the deadline for Nominations for this race so didn’t have any runners in it, however, we did have two winners at this years Dubai Carnival, our first ever winners in Dubai.

Sent out 10 runners, only one came back empty-handed.

2 Wins
[color=blue]Ch. Last For More, (3yo, Lasting Spirit x Back For More) 1/10 in the G2 UAE Derby at Dubai. His 3rd consecutive win, all SW, including 1 G1W. He is the 3rd Starfish horse to go over the $1m mark in earnings for 2017. He will be headed back to the US for their Triple Crown races.
[color=blue]Ch. Hogwarts, (4yo, Magic Glory x Blarneystone Lane) 1/10 in the G1 Dubai Golden Shaheen at Dubai. After an unremarkable racing career at 2yo & 3yo (including a spell when he was up For Sale), he is unbeaten in 4 races as a 4yo, all SW. He is the 4th Starfish horse to go over the $1m mark in earnings for 2017.

2 Seconds
[color=red]Ch. Lupe Valez, (4yo, Point Given x Lucky Lucky Lady) 2/10 in the G2 Godolphin Mile at Dubai.
[color=blue]G.Ch. First Born Son, (4yo, Ring of Fire x What’s That About) 2/10 in the G1 Dubai Sheema Classic at Dubai. He still needs one more SW to be stud-qualified. He will be headed to Hong Kong for the $1.5m G1 Audemars Piguet Queen Elizabeth II Cup.

2 Thirds
[color=red]Ch. American Dance, (4yo, Almost Home x Northern Sister) 3/10 in the G1 Dubai Sheema Classic at Dubai. She was not disgraced in suffering her first defeat this year and first loss in her last 7 races. She too will be headed to Hong Kong for the $1.5m G1 Audemars Piguet Queen Elizabeth II Cup.
[color=blue]Ch. Getoutofmyway, (3yo, Slew O’Scots x Risk Away) 3/10 in the G1 Dubai Duty Free at Dubai. Also not disgraced in suffering his first defeat this year.

2 Fourths
[color=blue]Ch. Glorious Victory, (3yo, Magic Glory x Decisive Victory) 4/10 in the G2 UAE Derby at Dubai, behind stable-companion [color=blue]Ch. Last For More.
[color=blue]Ch. Lohan, (4yo, My Lucky Day x Thinking of Dreams) 4/10 in the G1 Dubai Golden Shaheen at Dubai, behind stable-companion [color=blue]Ch. Hogwarts.

Also Ran
[color=red]Back St. Flight, (3yo, Major’s Flight x Back Streets) 5/10 in the G1 Dubai Duty Free at Dubai. An ambitious whim to enter her in this race as she only has 1 win to her name, however, it wasn’t a bad performance as she was only about a length behind the winner and had two GCh’s (Can’t Fool Me & Run Jenny Run) behind her.
[color=red]Perfect Princess, (4yo, Worth My While x Celtic Glory) 8/11 in the G2 Orchid Handicap at Gulfstream.

A number of today’s runners will be headed to Australia for the end of their early racing season, then probably over to England for their racing season.

Thanks Hilda and Lewis! We were a bit disappointed because we had sent [color=red]Fightin’ The Smoke over to Dubai to be entered in the World Cup as well, but completely missed the deadline on Monday. We are completely stoked to see [color=blue]Batista and [color=red]Enyo made up for it though by finishing 1 and 2. Both are by Nightfight with Batista a 3yo and Enyo and 4yo.

CDS really needed today because our training tactics just don’t seem to be working as well as they use to.  Our win percentage is WAY down so the Dubai win today will help us get through the rest of the year…

As for the rest of our runners:

Nobody really did anything in the allowances…seems to be a trend…

[color=blue]Nightwatchman (Nightfight) finished 3rd in the UAE Derby.

[color=red]Foolever (Foolhardy) finished 3rd in the Golden Shaheen. Her first stakes race this year.

[color=blue]Crowned In Dreams finished 4th in the Portrero Grande Breeders’ Cup.

Well [color=red]Thanatos crashed and burned for the first time this year, running 6th in an 8.5f dirt OA. Then again, the step up in class might’ve been much for her. She’s going to Woodbine.

Did claim a racing prospect in [color=red]Cascabel Lady, a daughter of ICh. Stressed and a created mare. She’s already a two-time winner, with one of wins being her previous race. We’ll see how she goes from here on out.

have had a very poor year so far and took a chance with [color=blue]Secret Wishes in the Godolphin Mile, my first ever entry in Dubai. I was amazed and delighted to see him actually win it! At the rate I have been losing money this year i would be in financial trouble come tax time so he has really helped to keep the stable on track. hope he keeps it up

The first of my horses have returned from their “spring break” at the farm/boarding stables, and it really showed in their performances.  I’m ashamed to say that most haven’t been home in 6+ months.  Their are lots more to come, though, so watch out!

2 out, 2 wins:

[color=red]Ch. Girlfight (4yo, Nightfight) won the G2 Distaff Breeders’ Cup Handicap in style, earning a speed factor of 227 and finally earning her champion title.  I can’t wait to see what else she can do.  This was her first stakes win.  She also earned her THIRD speed record, all of them 8-9.5f dirt.  I’m almost as excited to have her as a future broodmare for the classic races someday!

[color=blue]Ch. Exit Poll (4yo, Irish River) won his 4th stakes race, the ungraded Caltech Handicap with an impressive 293 speed factor.  Look for him in a G1 race hopefully soon, as I would love to see him through to studhood (oh please, oh please!)

Yay! Congrats Alyssa and Gwen on [color=blue]Secret Wishes (As You Wish) and[color=red] Girlfight’s (Nightfights) stake wins!!

I haven’t been bothered lately to write up because i’m too lazy but we had such a good day here at Fox Run and the Dubai races being a bit special I thought I should make the effort, plus it’s always nice when it’s the girls bringing home the money!

Wins
[color=red]Ch. Ishka 4yrold,(Sadler’s Wells), had win of the day by taking out the Dubai Duty Free, earning her Ch in the process. The prizemoney was sorely needed here at Fox Run and she has earned herself a considerable rest. This makes her 4(2) for 4(2) wins this year, as well as a speed record on dirt, after only one placing as a 2yr old. I snapped her up early in the year because I love her sire and he’s not letting me down! Gosh I was so nervous looking at the race results in the Play By Play, I had to keep walking away and coming back lol

[color=blue]Tabun Bogdo 4yrold, (King David) in a NW1

[color=blue]Shinzon 4yrold, (Hope to Succeed) also in a NW1 by a considerable length, his SF was nothing special though

[color=blue]Magic Chocolate 4yrold, (Magic Cross) in a dirt OA by a nice margin, I had originally considered steeples for him but I might put that off for a little bit yet

[color=blue]Lakul 4yrold, (Highland Bandit) he is 3 for 4 this year but no good SF’s, not sure what to do with him

[color=blue]Head Over Heels 3yrold, (As You Wish) he is placing well this year but definately not reached his potential yet

[color=red]Fire Of Beltane 4yrold create had her first win ever and on steeples in a NW3. Impressive 209 SF, I am excited for her future

[color=red]Cry Me A River 3yrold, (Blue Ensign) won her NW3 nicely

[color=red]Belle Esprit 4yrold create, Belle has done marvelously since I bought her despite all the equipment changes but her SF of 205 is very encouraging

[color=red]Awesomette 3yrold, (Mr Townsend) in a NW2 with a rather nice SF

Places

[color=red]Spirt Moon 4yrold, (Lasting Spirit) dang I wanna change that spelling error, even if it is rather amusing. I am so proud of this girl, she was right on the heels of [color=blue]Exit Poll in the Ungr Caltech Handicap and even earned the same SF as him! My fingers are crossed for him to studify Alyssa! She would definately be straight over to see him when she retires  I am excited for her racing future yet though

[color=green]No Alibis 5yrold, (The Black) second but absolutely left behind by the winner. He’s placing ok despite his age but he’s never been a superstar and i dunno if he’s worth the time anymore

[color=green]Kratos 5yrold, one of my original creates ran behind stablemate [color=blue]Lakul. I haven’t found his niche yet but he tends to place in the top 3

[color=blue]Ceti Alpha V 3yrold, (Highland Magic) was behind stablemate [color=blue]Tabun Bogdo. frustrating me yet with no special performances

[color=blue]I’m Your Eskimo 4yrold, (I’m Your Angel), came in behind stablemate [color=red]Belle Esprit, think I finally found his equips. I originally had high hopes for this boy but I think it’s going to be an earning Gelding or a non earning stallion

Bombouts!
[color=red]Whiskey Straight 3yrold, (High Chances) 6th/9 not a terrible performance just not figured out her out yet

[color=red]Bold Firefly 5yrold, (Secretariat) 6th/6 it was a 16f race and she had the lead for the first 6f, so maybe back to sprints for her. Despite the loss she was less than 1 sec behind the winner and got a SF of 201! Very close finish and very encouraging as her race record so far has been dismal
