2/2

With win percentage now dropped to 14%, I have to remind myself that they still run quite well… and in the money usually.

[color=red]Embellished finished 3rd/14 in a crowded race, with better speed figure than before.

[color=red]She’s Outlawed was 4th/8 in her open allowance sprint, again on wet track which she apparently doesn’t like.

[color=blue]Sugarbird finished 3rd/8 in a $50,000 claimer, and got claimed by Oakwood Farms. We wish him succesful career! It’s a nice colt.

Not a great day, compared to January. Not horrible, though.

WIN:
[color=blue]Gandalf (3yo, Highland Wizard) finally broke his maiden.

PLACES:
[color=blue]Atlantic City (3yo, Foolhardy) behind Gandalf.

[color=blue]Mobile Emitter (3yo, A.P. Indy) in a NW3.

[color=red]Gotta Triumph (3yo, Gotta Go) in the Herecomesthebride Stakes.

SHOWS:
[color=blue]Lord Nelson (5yo, Cigar) in an OA.

[color=red]Brightest Light (5yo, Akhetnaten) in an OA.

[color=red]Clairvoyant (3yo, Holy Bull) in the Herecomesthebride Stakes.

[color=blue]Country Store (4yo, A.P. Indy) in the Shannon Stakes.

With a couple of exceptions, a pretty poor day. Sent out 10 runners:-

1 Win
[color=red]Ch. Sand Dune, (3yo, Giant’s Causeway x Dayatthebeach) 1/10 in the G3 Herecomesthebride Stakes at Gulfstream.
Earned her “Ch” tag with this win. She will probably be aimed for the English (and/or Irish) Classics when racing starts up in those countries.

1 Second
[color=blue]Ch. Casting Couch, (4yo, TakeMeToHollywood x Back Streets) 2/10 in the G2 Shannon Stakes in Australia.

1 Fourth
[color=red]Devil’s Flight, (3yo, Major’s Flight x Coco Diablo) 4/13 in an NW3 at Aqueduct.

Also Ran
[color=red]Ch. Dark Topaz, (4yo, Dark Continent x Topaz) 5/12 in the Ung Correction Stakes at Aqueduct.
[color=red]Ch. White Sand Beach, (4yo, Almost Home x Dayatthebeach) 12/12 in the Ung Correction Stakes at Aqueduct.
[color=red]Harvard Speaker, (3yo, Harvard Bound x Fanci Remark) 7/10 in an NW3 at Aqueduct. FOR SALE.
[color=blue]DoubleOrNothing, (6yo, A.P. Indy x By Honor Bound) 7/14 in an OA in Australia. FOR SALE.
[color=red]Ancient Fire, (3yo, Turn n’Burn x Ancient Honour) 11/14 in an Mdn at Aqueduct. FOR SALE.
[color=red]Ginny Weasley, (3yo, Major’s Flight x Painted Desert) 8/8 in an OA at Aqueduct. FOR SALE.
[color=red]Exquisite, (5yo, Easy Goer x Hail to Beauty) 12/13 in a Claimer at Aqueduct. FOR SALE.

Had a good day finally! Although via claimer runners, but whatever works! Sent out 9 and 5 hit the board.

[color=blue]Red Dog bounced back to run 2nd/9 in his OA.
[color=blue]Rock Stardom was 2nd/8 in his OA/2017 debut.
[color=green]Celebroch ran 2nd/13 in a 30k claimer, and [color=blue]Massacre ran 3rd. Both went unclaimed.

[color=blue]Candied Roses was 3rd/6 in his NW3.

It looks like MSW [color=red]Ch. Crack the Bell will be retired. Just fighting with myself if I want to put her up for lease (so I don’t have a bazillion foals next year and can save a little on stud fees) or if I want her first foal for myself.

EDIT: Decided to just send her home for several months and hit maybe the mid/late summer races and if nothing goes, retire next year. Seems wrong to put her to baby work at age 4.

Most in the money, finally! Mostly 4ths, but only one totally off the board out of six starters.

[color=green]The Informant (3YO, Government Secret x Leash) ran 2nd/6 in his first steeplechase start, a 7.5f NW2 for 3YOs. It’s his first time finding the board in his career. Glad he might’ve found something he likes!

[color=red]Angel Investor (3YO, Holy Bull x Venture Capitalist) likes 4th place - ran 4th/10 in an NW3 on dirt for 3YO fillies. I’d love to see her start moving up the board a little more, but a paycheck is a paycheck.

[color=green]Silver Cross (6YO, Must Be Magic x Hollywood Silver) managed a mediocre-but-money-winning 4th/8 in a 6.5f OA on dirt for 4YO+. Retirement is imminent, I think. :frowning:

[color=green]Cloudwalker (5YO, created) went 4th/5 in a 12f turf starter allowance. He’s never impressive but he’s made me some money fairly consistently this year so I’ll hang onto him and and keep him in claimers.

[color=red]Drumline (4YO, Jazz It Up x Easterner) was the highlight of the day - 1st/14 in a 7.5f OA on dirt for 4YO+ mares. She had a few stakes starts last year with moderate success; looks like we’ll take another crack at it this year.

Our one off the board - [color=red]Cinderella Story (3YO, Highland Magic x Sweet Air) was 9th/10 in an 8.0f NW3 on dirt for 3YO fillies. I don’t think she’s too keen on dirt; we’ll try a few more turf starts and see if she can’t figure it out.

Bleh.

[color=green]Evil Rumors ran in 6.5f Allowance for 4yo+ (D) and placed 3rd/8. Sole money earner of the day.

[color=red]Secretsofthesky ran in 9.5f Maiden for 3yo F (T) and placed 7th/14. Still don’t know if she’s mature yet at the bottom of her projected height range.

[color=green]Acapulco Gold ran in 8.0f NW3 Allowance for 3yo+ (T) and placed 13th/13. There’s no way around it. He’s just a dud racehorse. He’s been retired to ride as a pleasure horse and trail riding horse.

so-so day, sent 9 out and 4 were in the running

[color=red]Night Catcher (3yo, Dark Continent) ran in a $10,000 claimer and won it! He wasn’t claimed, came home. I’m glad he has finally done something, even if it was in a claiming race

[color=red]Blowing Kisses (3yo, Whats Your Point) ran 2nd in an open dirt allowance.

[color=blue]In A Pickle (3yo, Whats Your Point) ran in the $50,000 claimer and ran 2nd, he also wasn’t claimed. He seems to like running 2nd, we’ll have to try to break him of that

[color=red]Heavens Halo (3yo, Ring Of Fire) ran 3rd in a NW3 allowance. She ran on dirt her whole 2yo career so i’m glad to see that she has potential on turf as well

My streak of at-least-a-win-a-race-day continues! Five out, with one win and three places! Earned enough to cover the stud fee for one of my broodies.

My first homebred brought home my second win as a breeder! [color=blue]The Time Lord won a 7f NW1 on dirt against 3YOs and finished it off with a nice SF. Coming second in the same race is another one of our 3YOs, [color=blue]Little Lion Man. Finally our 3YOs are starting to perk up.

The one I was chewing nails over was [color=red]A Dreamy Sonata, in deep against a tough field in a 9f turf allowance for 4YO+ fillies & mares. I’m so pleased she pulled off a second and racked up a high SF in the process, and I think this means she can hold her own in stakes company now. She’s blossoming!

[color=red]Thanatos, a perpetual failure as a 2 and 3YO (no offense, baby girl, but you weren’t really running), is finding her legs; she ran second in a 10.5f maiden on dirt for 4YO+.

Also-ran is homebred [color=red]U.R. A Shinin Star, finishing 9th in a 9.5f maiden on turf for 3YO fillies. We’re trying dirt next.
