2/16

Good day here. 2/3 of our ponies were in the top 4 (mostly wins, for a change), and another 4 brought home a pay check.

WINS:
[color=blue]Plague (3yo, High Chances) in a NW2.

[color=blue]King’s Knight (3yo, Chivalry) in a NW2. This is his first win this year after a string of placings.

[color=red]Claire de Lune (4yo, Highland Laird) in a NW2. This is her first win this year.

[color=red]Counting Coins (3yo, Count Me In) in a NW3. This is her second win in a row.

[color=red]Spread The News (3yo, All Jazzed Up) in an OA. She’s probably ready to try a stakes race.

[color=blue]Macbeth (3yo, Prince of Wonder) in a maiden. Finally a win for this boy after a bunch of 2nds/3rds.

[color=red]Indy’s Moment (3yo, A.P. Indy) in a NW2.

PLACES:
[color=blue]Gandalf (3yo, Highland Wizard) in a NW2.

[color=red]Fairy Cat (5yo, Alley Cat) in an OA.

[color=red]Brightest Light (5yo, Akhetnaten) in an OA.

[color=red]Celtic Crystal (3yo, Crystal Romance) in a NW2, behind Indy’s Moment.

[color=red]Full of Fanfare (3yo, Witness) in the Boo La Boo Stakes, for her first stakes placing. :slight_smile:

SHOW:
[color=blue]Messenger (3yo, Cryptic Ballad) in a maiden, behind Macbeth. This is his best placing to date.

FOURTH:
[color=blue]Mobile Emitter (3yo, A.P. Indy) in the Spring Champion Stakes. We weren’t going to put him in a stakes race quiet yet, but wanted to try him at a longer distance. He did well against a tough field.

We were the opposite - 3/4 of our four runners were off the board :frowning: Ponies aren’t running well at the moment at all. Having said that they always seem to start the year really slowly. Just this year has been really, really slow! A few will be heading home ready for the English season in the hope that the generally weaker fields in the allowance races there might see some improvement.

Entered one, came home with two.

[color=red]She’s Outlawed was 2nd/8 in open allowance. As 3yo she’s not stakes level anymore, but I hope that it’s just bad luck and she’ll get better.

I claimed an 8yo mare ::) [color=red]Bound To Be, because we own two brilliant fillies by her sire, she was never stakes level but ran for a long time and was successful (and our other broodmare with similar career is now gold rated), and she’s injury free, and her damline is very interesting. Her dam produced [color=blue]GCh. Swamper, a stallion that will probably not get studified but he was close, and won Grade 1 twice. And her granddam produced [color=red]GCh. Allure, MSW millionare that is now a silver rated broodmare.
Bound To Be will see Frankel. We’re going to have five Frankel foals next year, just because in real life it wouldn’t be possible. :wink:

Hilda - have you seen the list of mares going to the RL Frankel? There’s some amazing mares in his first book.

Nice! I hope she does well as a broodmare.

Our ponies also seem to slow down at the start of the year for some reason. Usually by mid-spring/summer they’ve perked up a bit, but waiting for them to do so is frustrating, for sure.

Definetely, and Frankel now has two full brothers…

Another ouch day. Sent out 7 and 2 hit the board.

[color=blue]Nindalf finished 1st/7 in his NW3. Looks like SC is a winner!
[color=red]Playdate ran 2nd/6 in her claimer and stays home.

Everyone else finished 5th or much, much worse. Both [color=red]Ch. A.P. Goodyear and [color=red]Ch. Daytona Weekend were retired to broodmare duties and have been put up for lease (10k and 15k respectively) for anyone interested. I’d breed them myself this year if taxes hadn’t walloped me and with only a small handful of kids remembering how to run the bounce-back has been slow. Both are stakes winning daughters of A.P. Indy, with A.P. Goodyear having won/placed in 7 stakes races at 2; she’s a half-sister to MSW Ch. First Dance and Ch. Encore. Daytona Weekend was SP at 2 and is out of an All Jazzed Up mare.

A good day all round, with one exception. Sent out 6 runners, only one didn’t come back with anything.

2 Wins
[color=blue]Final Mystery, (3yo, Magic Glory x Lady of Mystery) 1/6 in an OA at Aqueduct. Finally managed to lose his maiden tag.
[color=blue]Executive Dreamer, (3yo, Alley Cat x Executive Session) 1/10 in the G1 Spring Champion Stakes in Australia. Unbeaten in two starts overall. Big difference to his first win, however, as it was in a Claiming race.

3 Seconds
[color=blue]Secano, (3yo, Sneak Peek x In Due Time) 2/8 in a Claiming race at Gulfstream. His best performance so far, maybe he likes the jumping game. He was up for sale before this, we’ll give him at least one more race over jumps before deciding whether to put him back up for sale.
[color=blue]Ch. Painted Raven, (5yo, Slew O’ Scots x Painted Desert) 2/10 in the G2 San Luis Obispo Handicap at Santa Anita. It was nice to see him back in the money after his last three performances.
[color=red]Ch. Unbridled Run, (4yo, Strider x Unbridled Passion) 2/10 in the G1 Epsom Handicap in Australia.

Also Ran
[color=blue]Contristo (Leased from Rainee Thoroughbreds), (4yo, Stressed x Las Vegas Jitters) 9/9 in an OA in Australia.

Sent out three geldings today and they all bombed. Retired [color=green]Bold Dreams because he just doesn’t have his heart in it anymore. The other two bombed in stakes, so I’ll forgive them this time!

Actually had a good day sent out 6 with 2 wins and a 4th

[color=blue]Set It Off (Nightfight) won by 2 1/2 lengths the G-2  Hutcheson Stakes

[color=blue]Tomahawks won the 12 furlongs San Luis Obispo Handicap

And
[color=blue]Black Magic Master was 4th in his Nw-3

The rest eh.

Our ponies liked the 3rd place this week.

Wins

Jester’s Crown (Foolhardy) won her ungraded stakes. She’s unbeaten on the grass this year. Really excited about this girl.

Chance of Rain (High Chances) won her OA at 12.5 furlongs. Yet another HC mare that likes the distance. Weird!

Place
Hubris (High Chances) came in 2nd in his OA. He had a nice 2yo season, but his 3yo season has been a bit spotty.

Show
Hero for Hire (Ring of Fire) has perked up a lot this year, and came in 3rd in his NW2.
Memorial Day (Stars’N’Stripes) in an NW3 against the boys.
Pearls of Wisdom (Strider) in an OA against the girls.
Holy Cow (Holy Bull) in his Gr. 3
Bandit’s Love (Highland Bandit) in her Gr. 1 against the boys (and girls).

Yay Plague! Unfortunately for DC, he’s an HC boy. :wink:

Yahoo! Bringing Privilage closer to Gold! :slight_smile:

:slight_smile:

Ok day today, sent 5 out, 3 on the board

[color=blue]Lake Highlands (4yo Highland Bandit) WON his allowance, bout time he came back around!

[color=red]Heavens To Betsy (3yo, High Chances) ran 2nd in her NW1 allowance, tried some new equipment and she seemed to like it

[color=red]Careless Whisper (5yo, Alydar) ran 3rd in the San Luis Obispo Handicap. This gal continues to impress me. A win? No, but this gal has still got it! If she keeps it up I may just keep running her this season… Thought about sending her to breed but she wants to run

D’oh. Working on memorizing the sires of all my ponies. Bit of a challenge when there are so many.
