12/7

A pretty good day for us! Sent out 9 and 7 hit the board.

[color=red]Painted Sunset and [color=green]Mulligan ran 1st - 2nd/6 in a NW3.
[color=red]Sun Godess ran 2nd/6 in her NW3.
[color=blue]Rocket Smoke ran 2nd/7 in his OA. We’re really hoping his record over the summer was just a hiccup or something, since he seems to be back in fighting form.

[color=blue]A Knight’s Tale, [color=blue]Personable Joe, and [color=blue]Spirit of Autumn all finished 4th (and are all 2yo colts).

Races are crowded recently… two of four our starters earned some money.

[color=red]Luxury Of Time - 1st/10 in 6 furlongs Maiden for 2yo F on turf. Finally broke her maiden!
[color=blue]Opinionator - 3rd/11in  7.5 furlongs NW2 Allowance for 2yo on dirt.
[color=red]Shadow In The Dark - 7th/11 in 8.5 furlongs East View Stakes for 2yo F on dirt. Not a bad performance, but she was probably tired.
[color=red]A Revolution - 9th/14 in 8 furlongs Allowance for 3yo+, steeplechase. Quite a demanding race for this filly.

Had four runners out today. Rather not talk about three of them (really disappointed in Eighteen Karat in his steeplechasing debut; the boy is done and will come home to stud in January) but am so happy about the fourth. Threw [color=red]Solient K into a steeplechase after running poorly all this year (and last) and she hurdled home first. Given her female family’s strong affinity for steeplechasing I should’ve tried her over them way earlier in the year. Pretty excited for her future now (and the future of her half-sister’s foals).

We sent out 9 today and three didn’t bring home a check one a true shock! My best 3yo colt Kichiro just didn’t want to run, I so hope this isn’t a clue to how he’s going to be the next few yrs!

[color=blue]Franklin -(sneak peek)5.0f NW1 Allow,2yo,Turf - Good, [color=blue]5th discovered that this distance is too short!
[color=red]In The Fast Lane-(Cross roads)6.0f NW2 Allow,2yo,Turf - Good, [color=red]7th lazy fat filly! Just came out of 7th PP and stayed there just enjoying the run. Maybe time to play with equipment.
[color=red]Vivian Leigh-(Alley cat)7.5f NW3 Allow,2yo,Turf - Good, [color=red]3rd came out of the tenth PP into third running there the whole race,with another filly winning and one boy in between.
[color=blue]Height Of Darkness-(high chances)6.5f NW3 Allow,2yo,Turf - Good, [color=blue]1st the third win for this 2 yo son of High Chances, it might be time for a stakes try! Winning by over 2 lengths.
[color=red]Intimate Dancer-15.5f Allow,3yo,Turf - Wet, [color=red]5th this was a test to see how long a race she might like, she fought for second up til the very last of the race, so now I know this was just a bit too long.
[color=blue]Blood Lance-13.5f Allow,3yo+,SC - Wet, [color=blue]10th again another well rested horse just out for a stroll, not only wet,but in between the lengths he likes.  ::)
[color=red]Danzin on a Star-7.5f Allow,3yo+,Turf - Fast, [color=red]4th came out of the first PP into second until 6f fell back to third but just couldn’t hold on the last few feet.being retired to BM in Jan.
[color=blue]Kichiro-7.5f Allow,3yo+,Turf - Fast, [color=blue]7th completely bombed,came out of 14th PP moved up to where he finished,one of his stablemates a filly beat him and earned a check! And this is coming off farm rest and hasn’t raced for a while just light exercise but his sire High Chances was a late bloomer so fingers crossed!
[color=green]Fortunate Son-8.5f Allow,3yo,Dirt - Good, [color=green]3rd came out of 2nd PP fell back to 4th and moved into 3rd where he settled for the rest of the race
9-1-0-2-1 $41,500

I’m really pleased (for once) about today’s results.

[color=blue]OLD TIMER: 3rd/Allowance - I sent out Old Timer with some trepidation, as he’s really lost a step since last year. Only a couple of on-the-board finishes, after being a very good allowance (and occasional stakes runner) horse last year. Now he runs up the track and I’ve been trying to figure out why. He may just have been an early bloomer who’s past his prime now, but I hate to see him go. He finally showed some of his old self today in his Allowance race, finishing 3rd. He ran in blinkers for the first time, so hopefully he’ll get his butt back in gear for a while longer. I’m figuring that if he’s still running up the track by mid-year next year, I’ll retire him. He was my first really good horse.

[color=blue]HEATSEEKER: 1st/Starter Allowance - Heatseeker is one of my most reliable runners. He runs in the lower ranks, but he always brings home a check. Every time. Occasionally I throw him in an open allowance and he’ll still finish on the board. He’s a hard trier.

[color=red]THE GOOD STUFF: 1st/G2 Backstage Pass Breeders Stakes - The Good Stuff is rapidly becoming one of my absolute favorites. I discovered she’s nominated for the Breeders’ Stakes races, so I’ve been entering her in them and having fun with it. She got started kind of late, entering the first BS race in September (today was her third), but that’s kind of the story of her life. A typical steeplechaser, she’s only this year been hitting her stride. Dismal 2yo season, dismal 3yo season, and then I switched her to the jumps for her last few races in her 3yo season and she finally hit the board in the last two races (not just hitting the board, but running away from the field and winning). She continued on through this whole year, finishing off the board only a couple of times, and always in the money. I’m pleased as punch with her. I’m planning to continue with her next year, and probably will retire her as a broodmare as a 6yo.

Posted the below in my stallion advertisement thread. So happy with my boy!

I

Sent out 2 and extremely pleased with the results

[color=red]Just A Dream - 3rd/6 9.0f Maiden for 3yo+ SC. Seems to be like she’s gunna be a steeplechaser. Now that we know what surface she likes, we can hope to see her improve for the future.

[color=blue]Malurian (Blue Ensign) - 1st/14 13.5f Allowance for 3yo+ SC. Happy to see that he is back in form after his last 2 poor performances. Now if only he would be willing to run in stakes races…

Congrats!! I was super stoked to see she won! :slight_smile: I hope she goes on to win the triple. :wink:
Also, on a side note the top 3 in the Backstage Pass BS were CDS bred. :smiley:

Seaing Grey also won the other BS SC race that day but there were only two entered.  Not a huge win, but a win. :wink:

Best part of the day was seeing Killer Queen and Fabulously High go 1-2 in an ungraded stakes.

Other highlights:

Higher Agenda was 3rd in her OA
Idolized was 4th in her OA.
Steadfast Steed was 2nd in his NW3
Take It In Stride was 2nd in his NW3.

very pleased again with our mare Best Queen who was second by only 1/4 length to superhorse I’m No Fool. She was the only mare in the race and had some very good boys behind her. Perhaps she may meet I’m No Fool again when they have both retired  :slight_smile:
