Two boys racing. A winless day, but they both made some money.
2yo [color=blue]Sugarbird (GCh. My Lucky Day) finished 3rd/14 in his NW2. That’s better than recently. Maybe changing equipment helped him.
2yo [color=blue]Ch. Gold Tic (Point Given) finished 2nd/11 in his open allowance, quite close to the winner. He was unsuccessful in his recent stakes entries, so I hope that he gains some confidence.
2 Wins [color=red]Ch. Classic Red Line, (2yo, I’m A Classic x A Fine Red Line) 1/14 in the Ung Damon Runyon Stakes at Aqueduct. Second SW and third win overall. The points from today’s race earned her Champion status. She will be sent home for a Christmas break and will be back on the track next year. [color=red]Ch. Unbridled Run, (3yo, Strider x Unbridled Passion) 1/10 in the G3 Winter Stakes in Australia. Her second SW.
2 Seconds [color=blue]Ch. Crystal Double, (4yo, Crystal Rainbow x Clear As Crystal) 2/6 in an OA at Aqueduct. [color=blue]Ch. Prestige, (4yo, Cross Roads x Magician’s Mystery) 2/7 in an OA at Aqueduct.
4 Thirds [color=red]Flight of Silk, (2yo, Major’s Flight x Flaming Silk) 3/8 in an NW3 at Aqueduct. [color=red]Magic Topaz, (2yo, Magic Glory x Topaz) 3/7 in an NW3 at Aqueduct. [color=blue]Final Mystery, (2yo, Magic Glory x Lady of Mystery) 3/11 in an OA at Woodbine. [color=red]Ch. Lupe Valez, (3yo, Point Given x Lucky Lucky Lady) 3/12 in the Ung Gallant Fox at Aqueduct.
1 Fourth [color=blue]DoubleOrNothing, (5yo, A.P. Indy x By Honor Bound) 4/11 in an OA in Australia.
Also Ran [color=red]Devil’s Flight, (2yo, Major’s Flight x Coco Diablo) 6/14 in an NW2 at Aqueduct. [color=red]Lucky Major, (2yo, Major’s Flight x Lucky Lucky Lady) 7/14 in an Mdn at Woodbine.
All of these will remain in training next year, although [color=blue]DoubleOrNothing, [color=red]Magic Topaz and [color=red]Lucky Major are all for sale.
[color=blue]Ch. Alfresco ran in 8.5f Dirt Ungr. Damon Runyon Stakes for 2yo (D) and placed 4th/14. It was a little longer than I wanted, but with the breeder’s series going on I couldn’t find any good stakes for him. It didn’t appear to be length that caused him to place how he did though, he broke out of the gate in 4th and stayed the whole way. Still a great placing, and still never been below 4th!
And congrats to Classic Red Line for beating all the boys in this one!
[color=blue]Gallant Affair ran in 13.0f Dirt Ungr. Gallant Fox for 3yo+ (D) and placed 5th/11. Still solid I suppose. I would have liked another stakes place from this guy!
Both are making the trip home and will be here for Christmas.
[color=red]Foxy Ruby (5yo, Gallant Fox) won her OA over hurdles. She is slated to retire in the spring (on merits of her gold-ranked dam and affinity for winning, despite inconsistent training), but I was really hoping to get her a title of her own first. We shall see…
[color=red]D’lightful (3yo homebred, High Chances) made the switch to hurdles, and knocked it out of the ballpark - a win and a speed record, earning a speed factor of 263. I suspected her dam might be making hurdler babies, as her oldest (and only successful foal so far) did best once he switched to hurdles.
PLACES
[color=blue]D’angelo (2yo homebred, Strider) ran 2nd in his NW2, keeping his maidenhood. Still, it’s nice to see him fighting that same “hurdler family” hunch…or maybe he’ll just be even BETTER over hurdles.
[color=blue]Ch. Ducati (2yo, Magic Cross) continues to be on a roll - he ran 2nd in the ungraded Damon Runyon Stakes. He’s still never been less than 3rd…and I’m hoping he will continue that into the new year.
[color=red]Ch. Afterglow (4yo, Affirmed) ran 2nd in the G3 Winter Stakes, putting her within range of her GCh. title. After that, we will consider retirement (though she will likely run next year)
Also rans:
[color=red]Holy Smokes (2yo homebred, Holy Bull) ran 6th in her NW3 - a jump up in class.
[color=blue]Starseeker (3yo, Starz ‘n’ Stripes) ran 8th in the ungraded Gallant Fox, earning an admirable speed factor of 248 anyway.
[color=blue]Bear Witness (2yo, Witness) was 9th in his NW2 against some tough competition.
2yo [color=red]Anan Creek came in 3rd in her dirt maiden. We recently claimed her and gave her a rest before this start. She looks like she may do well on turf, so we will try to run her there next time.
We claimed [color=red]Anex, a 3yo filly who came in first in the small field of four. We plan on giving her some time off and will start her again in the middle of January. Hopefully she runs consistently for us next year.
