[color=red]Alakazam (2yo homebred, Highland Magic) won her NW2 after lackluster performances in her last 4 starts. Finicky filly.
[color=red]Holiday Joy (4yo, Northern Dancer) is being considered for the brood band next year. Today she won her NW3 over hurdles by over 3 lengths, earning a 203 speed factor. I think she’s a classy lady, but I wish she’d had more chances to prove herself on the flat (she had 1 start on each surface). Still, she’s been pretty consistent this year, and with days like this, it might be worth running her again next year…
[color=blue]Bear Witness (2yo, Witness) finished 2nd in his NW2. He recently joined our team, and we’re still figuring out…but he seems an eager learner! He has finished in the top 2 in all of his last 4 starts.
[color=red]Indywind (5yo, A.P. Indy) is also slated to join the brood band soon. She has finished in the top two for all of her non-stakes starts this year, and is only 4 points from earning a title. I don’t plan to retire her until after that, at least…but I strongly believe she is past her prime, because she just doesn’t bounce back from races like my peak runners do. Fingers crossed that it only takes one more race!
[color=red]Ch. Afterglow (4yo, Affirmed) never fired, finishing 5th in the G3 Belmont Sprint. I think she has a good chance of hitting GCh. title, as she is typically consistent at the stakes level. After that, I will consider retirement to take her mother’s old spot in the brood band.
[color=red]Ch. Always Ladylike (3yo, Giant’s Causeway) faced some of the game’s best runners (including In The Navy) in the G1 Brisbane Cup, and finished a respectable 5th. She earned the same speed factor as the 1-4 horses, and each was only a nose ahead of the next. I’m super, super happy with that. She’s my only filly from her now retired mom, so I’m ecstatic to see her succeed.
Sadly, [color=red]Ch. Coquette (2yo homebred, Bellagio) was way off her game, finishing 7th in the second leg of the Breeders’ Series, the G2 Brandywine Breeders’ Stakes.
