Hooray! This year has been pretty stellar for Mayfair, and today was another good day.
[color=red]Evening Bird won her 6f Allowance, which means she is now officially [color=red]Ch. Evening Bird!
[color=red]Ch. Chadh MacLeod was a hair behind and second in the same race.
[color=blue]Coming Up Roses was second in his Allowance and now needs just two points to join the Champion circle. Bah! You can do it!
Last but not least, [color=red]Viva Cuba was fifth in her NW2. Viva is now at her mature height… hopefully her consistency will come around at some point!
Mayfair has definitely had its most winningest year yet… we have been 35% in the blue and 72% in the top four overall across 199 races.
I don’t know what’s happened to my ponies! This week at least they earned back a little
Recent auction purchase [color=red]Count Me Twice (king David) won her 8f maiden only her second race ever the other she was 4th.
Stablemate [color=red]Aisle Light (giants causeway) was 4th behind her
[color=blue]Midnight Blues (gimme a shot) was 5th in an Nw-1 first time earning anything.
[color=blue]American Promise (king David) a recent purchase was 5th in an Nw-3
[color=green]Romancier just purchased this guy and got a first in an OA steeple, making three in a row and all wins for his steeple starts. Exciting! but the real test now is to see how he holds up against graded competition
[color=blue]Evil Rumors ran in 7.5f Gr. 2 Kelso Breeders’ Cup for 3yo+ (T) and placed 5th/14. Slightly disappointing, since he won his last three races. At least he still made some money!
I also claimed [color=red]La Femme Nikita from 9.0f Claiming ($5,000) for 3yo+ (D) in which she placed 3rd/6. That’s not a bad placing, but her SF was a measly 22. Did the horses all walk across the finish line backwards?
An AWESOME day! FINALLY! Haha. Sent out 5 and only 1 failed to hit the board.
[color=blue]Perfect Gentleman (2yo, Worth My While) came off a long rest to run 3rd/12 in a Maiden.
[color=green]Fine Ensign ran 1st/11 in an OA after a 3-month rest.
[color=red]A.P. Goodyear ran 2nd/6 in an OA.
[color=blue]Glory of Love ran 2nd/2 (not sure how that happened) in an OA.
Our sole failure was [color=red]Crack the Bell who continues to frustrate with an 8th/9 in an OA.
There was just one race that I’m happy about - [color=red]Ch. Crownette won a starter allowance for 3yo fillies. This wasn’t tough for a multiple stakes placed filly (out of Platinum ranked Cream of the Crop), but I just wanted something easy for her.
[color=red]Lacune finished 4th/6 in a NW3 steeplechase, and she’s winless since a longer while. She may join the broodmares next year, although initially I wanted to race her some more.
3yo [color=blue]Ch. Al Mundhir finished 7th/14 in the Kelso Breeders’ Cup, which is slightly disappointing after two stakes wins in a row. But the race was really tough and crowded. Congrats to Starfish for the win!
Sent 5 out, and everyone was second or above. My ponies are really stellar this year, and I am grateful to that:
5YO [color=red]Indywind (A.P. Indy) won her NW3 - she was purchased as a future brood, but I’d really love to see her get those last 11 points to champion, if possible… She’s two for two this year.
2YO homebred [color=red]Worth A Treasure (Worth My While) won her NW2 - she’s never been out of the money.
2YO homebred [color=blue]Mimic (I’m Your Angel) ran second in his NW3 - we’re still working on consistancy here.
4YO [color=red]Mango Frappe (Sunday Silence) ran second in her NW3. At least she’s pretty consistant - from seven starts this year, she is 2-3-0.
4YO [color=blue]Triomphe (Magic Glory) ran a strong second in the G2 Kelso Breeders’ Cup, losing by only a nose. He’s our longshot stallion hopeful, so it’s always sad to see him miss a stakes win…but especially one in so close of a race. Still, I’m glad he’s healthy and still running strong (and of course the paycheck isn’t bad, either).
2 Winners [color=blue]Contristo, (3yo, Stressed x Las Vegas Jitters) 1/7 in an NW3 at Woodbine. Leased from Rainee Thoroughbreds, this is his best performance for us. [color=red]Ch. Boundless Train, (3yo, Strike It Rich x By Honor Bound) 1/14 in the G2 Kelso Breeders’ Cup at Belmont. Her fourth win overall, all this year, including three SW in her last four starts.
1 Second [color=red]Classic Red Line, (2yo, I’m A Classic x A Fine Red Line ) 2/6 in an NW3 at Woodbine. She will be boarded at Belmont for a couple of weeks before heading for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies, depending on her ranking and the other horses entered.
2 Other notables [color=red]Sand Dune, (2yo, Giant’s Causeway x Dayatthebeach) 4/8 in an NW2 at Belmont. She will be headed for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies, depending on her ranking and the other horses entered. [color=blue]Ch. Liberty Creek, (4yo, Omaha x Skip the Secrets) 6/14 in the G2 Kelso Breeders’ Cup at Belmont behind stable companion [color=red]Boundless Train. At one time he was being earmarked for the Breeder’s Cup but now he will be headed to Woodbine for the Canadian International.
