10/31

Disappointing day, which is no surprise since it was mostly stakes entries. :stuck_out_tongue:

The good:
[color=blue]Crown Wish (2yo, As You Wish) won his NW2.

[color=red]Millennium Star (2yo, Rock of Gibraltar) broke her maiden.

[color=red]Devil’s Price (Candidate) won the Australian Oaks, for her first stakes win!

[color=red]Bella Notta (2yo, Crystal Rainbow) and [color=red]Sable Princess (King David) were both 2nd in their allowances.

[color=blue]Magician’s Wand (Point Given) was 2nd in the Knickerbocker Stakes, his first stakes attempt.

[color=red]A Capella (What’s Debatable) and [color=red]Airgead Draiocht (Highland Magic) were 2nd and 4th, respectively, in the Breeders’ Cup SC Sprint.

[color=red]Morgan le Fay (Highland Wizard) was 2nd in the Breeders’ Cup SC Classic.

[color=red]Apprintice (Candidate) was 2nd in the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint.

The bad:
Almost everyone else. :frowning: Including [color=blue]Lord Nelson, who just needs 1 stakes win and 1 stakes place to get studified, and refuses to do it. :frowning: And [color=red]Can’t Fool Me, who had her first off-the-board finish in the Juvenile Turf Fillies. (At least stablemate [color=red]Hemisphere picked up 3rd place in that race, though.)

Wow! Had an amazing day! Finished with 22(19)-7(5)-5(5)-3(2)-4(4) and brought home $9,720,700 prizemoney.

9.0f NW3 Allowance for 2yo, $40,000 - Egoiste - 1st - Great to get another win for this guy.

8.0f Allowance for 3yo+, $65,000 - Golden Aura - 3rd - She did well. Can’t quite figure her out / have never really done well with jumpers!

9.0f Gr. 1 Breeders’ Cup Distaff for 3yo+ F, $2,000,000 - Madam President - 1st - She was second in this race last year so it is brilliant to see her come back and win it this time around.

8.0f Gr. 1 Breeders’ Cup Mile for 3yo+, $2,000,000 - Uncharted - 2nd - Thought she was a good shot for the win, but happy all the same.

6.0f Gr. 1 Breeders’ Cup Sprint for 3yo+, $2,000,000 - To Die For - 2nd - Knew this would be a tough one (even though only four started). Very happy with second though and it sees him go to International Champion status. He’ll be heading to the breeding shed next year.

10.0f Gr. 1 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf for 3yo+ F, $2,000,000 - Gal From Seattle - 6th - Disappointing… Was hoping for top four.

10.0f Gr. 1 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf for 3yo+ F, $2,000,000 - Gotta Be Royal - 9th - As above. She just didn’t fire.

8.5f Gr. 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile for 2yo, $2,000,000 - So Audacious - 2nd - Great run against a tough field.

12.0f Gr. 1 Breeders’ Cup Turf for 3yo+, $3,000,000 - Sekhmet - 2nd - Happy with this effort.

12.0f Gr. 1 Breeders’ Cup Turf for 3yo+, $3,000,000 - Taking Chances - 3rd - As above - very happy he was in the top three.

10.0f Gr. 1 Breeders’ Cup Classic for 3yo+, $5,000,000 - Kowhai - 1st - WOW! She did it! I FINALLY own a Breeders’ Cup Classic winner - and she’s a 3YO filly to boot! She’s had such a stellar year and I couldn’t be happier.

10.0f Gr. 1 Breeders’ Cup SC Distaff for 3yo+ F, $2,000,000 - Maranotha - 3rd - Glad she is in the money - wasn’t expecting much better.

7.0f Gr. 1 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint for 3yo+ F, $2,000,000 - Ardiente - 1st - Great win - her first Grade One.

7.0f Gr. 1 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint for 3yo+ F, $2,000,000 - Star Spun - 4th - Glad she was in the money, but thought she might be top three.

8.0f Gr. 1 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile for 3yo+, $2,000,000 - Aficionado - 1st - Very happy (and surprised) by this!

8.0f Gr. 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Fillies for 2yo F, $2,000,000 - When You Wish - 9th - Biggest disappointment of the day - was thinking she would definitely be top five.

6.5f Gr. 3 BTC Classic for 3yo, $100,000 - Saving Grace - 1st - First stakes win which I’m very happy with - her dam just passed away on me.

6.5f Gr. 3 BTC Classic for 3yo, $100,000 - Highland Wish - 4th - Not too bad…

12.0f Gr. 3 Queen’s Cup for 3yo+, $60,000 - Nefertari - 4th - Not too bad again - this one is definitely looking forward to retirement…

Today saw my stable exceed last year’s (2015) total winnings. I didn’t think it was possible to top last year but very excited that this is now my best year in the game to date!

I’m still not wealthy enough to take part in BC.  :frowning:

My only two runners were [color=blue]Noble 6 and [color=red]Nautilus in the two 2yo maidens and they got 14th and 13th in their respective races.

How embarrassing.

Brilliant day with our first ever BC runners.

Having completely broken the bank to enter our two boys, Ch [color=blue]Quarren dug us out of a serious financial hole by running 1st in the BC Turf  He becomes our first ever multi-millionaire in the process and probably best ever result for our stable. This is his 4th stakes win so still a little way to go for studification but for now very pleased with him

Ch [color=blue]Crystal Wizard ran 4th in the Dirt Mile and earned his entry fee back.

I knew I should have kept War Letters in his 75k stakes race instead of coughing up the entry fee for the BC Juvie. Will not see that money again. Throwing him out, not too bad!

[color=red]Witch’s Point won her NW3 and has now won 3/6 races this year.
[color=blue]Jade River won his NW3 by 6 lengths. Might give him another go at the stakes races.
[color=blue]A Knight’s Tale ran 2nd/9 in an OA; stablemate[color=green] To Alaska was 6th.

[color=red]R

Congrats - the first BC win is a great feeling!

Thanks

Sent out 20 runners, all in the Breeder’s Cup, many of which should have been in with good chances of winning. Ended up with 2 winners, 3 seconds and 3 thirds, however, it was the performances of some of the Stable stars that were very disappointing.

Winners
[color=blue]Ch. First Born Son, (3yo, Ring of Fire x What’s That About) 1/7 in the Mile. Especially pleasing as he was the first foal actually born at the Farm and not purchased. This was his 5th SW and 7th win overall (all this year) and made him a millionaire. Unfortunately, our other two runners in this race performed disappointingly. [color=blue]GCh. Lucky Sunset, (5yo, Red Sunset x Lucky Lucky Lady) and [color=blue]GCh. In The Navy, (5yo, Man O’War x Dayatthebeach) finished 6th & 7th respectively.
[color=red]Sand Dune, (2yo, Giant’s Causeway x Dayatthebeach) 1/12 in the Juvenile Turf Fillies.  Very nice surprise as she wasn’t one of our best chances. Obviously by winning this race she is now a millionaire.

Seconds
[color=blue]Ch. Lohan, (3yo, My Lucky Day x Thinking of Dreams) 2/5 in the Classic. Very nice surprise as he, too, wasn’t one of our fancied runners. This made him both a Champion and a millionaire.
[color=blue]Ch. Rebel Brother, (4yo, Backseat Driver x Movie Mistress) 2/7 in the SC Endurance.
[color=red]Ch. Boundless Train, (3yo, Strike It Rich x By Honor Bound) 2/6 in the Turf Sprint. She is another one who went over the million dollar mark. She continues to improve with 3 wins and 3 seconds in her last 6 races (all Stakes races).

Thirds
[color=red]Saucy Magician, (2yo, Magic Glory x Kinda Sassy) 3/13 in the Juvenile Fillies. Another long shot who performed better than expected.
[color=blue]GCh. AndLikeThatHesGone, (4yo, Major’s Flight x Risky Venture) 3/6 in the SC Sprint. Another one who went over the million dollar mark.
[color=blue]Ch. Painted Raven, (4yo, Slew O’ Scots x Painted Desert) 3/6 in the SC Classic.

Also Ran
[color=red]Ch. Giant’s Debate, (3yo, Giant’s Causeway x Time’s Debatable) and [color=red]Ch. White Sand Beach, (3yo, Almost Home x Dayatthebeach) 6th & 7th/8 in the Distaff.
[color=red]GCh. Big Dawn, (4yo, Rumor Has It x Sudden Success) 5th, [color=red]GCh. Princess Kaiulani, (4yo, Worth the Wait x Whistlin’ Dixie) 7th and [color=red]Ch. Hi Honey, (3yo, Foolhardy x Cherokee Accent) 8th/12 in the Filly & Mare Turf. They were 1st, 3rd & 5th in the rankings for this race so their performances were especially disappointing.
[color=blue]Ch. Glorious Victory, (2yo, Magic Glory x Decisive Victory) 11/13 in the Juvenile.
[color=blue]NCh. Lucky Streak, (4yo, Rahy x Wild Streak) 5/8 in the Turf. Very disappointing as he was the top ranked horse in the race.
[color=red]Ch. Last Nights Jitter, (4yo, Major’s Flight x Las Vegas Jitters) 6/6 in the SC Distaff.
[color=red]Take Your Chances (L), (5yo, Gimme A Shot x Thinking of Dreams) 6th and [color=red]Ch. Dark Topaz, (3yo, Dark Continent x Topaz) 7th/7 in the Filly & Mare Sprint.

Overall, our horses earned nearly double the entry fees and we had enough good performances from some of the 2 & 3 Year-olds to give us hope for next year.

I did a table of which stables did best in this years running of the Breeders’ Cup (these figures are only based on 1st, 2nd & 3rd placed runners).

Vaucluse Farms - 4-5-2 - $9,300,000
Semiahmoo Stables - 4-1-1 - $5,700,000
KindleHope Farms - 3-1-1 - $4,800,000
Starfish Stables - 2-3-3 - $5,000,000
Cirque Du Soleil - 2-1-0 - $2,800,000
Coleman Branch - 1-1-0 - $1,600,000
Generous Bloodstock - 1-0-0 - $1,800,000
Gintara Lodge - 1-0-0 - $1,200,000
Stillwater Farms - 0-3-1 - $1,600,000
Cricket Hill - 0-1-2 - $800,000
Lochiedo Stables - 0-1-1 - $600,000
Littlefield - 0-1-0 - $400,000
Darkwood Stables - 0-0-2 - $450,000
Ivy Creek Farm - 0-0-2 - $400,000
Mayfair - 0-0-2 - $400,000
Clover Springs Stables - 0-0-1 - $500,000

Congratulations to all.

WOW! WHat a wonderful day! My breeders cup ponies did amazingly, my regular ponies not so much. Sent 11 out, 7 in breeders cup races and we had 4 breeder cup wins, definitely our biggest breeders cup season yet!

Wins
[color=red]Uncanny Yodel (3yo, WCh. Highland Bandit) - in the Breeders’ Cup SC Sprint. SUPER stoked about this, this was her first stakes win (ironic eh?) and I couldn’t be prouder

[color=red]Careless Whisper (4yo, Alydar) in the Breeders’ Cup SC Distaff Endurance, this gal just keeps on impressing me! 2 years in a row she has won a breeders cup race for me

[color=blue]Sunday Paper (4yo, Sunday Silence) in the Breeders’ Cup SC Endurance, thats my boy! He is now a Grand Champion and a multi-millionaire. A few more races and he’ll be stud qualified, fingers crossed!

[color=blue]Run Jenny Run (3yo, ICh. What’s Your Point) in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint. This boy holds a special place in my heart, he is homebred to my stallion so I couldn’t be prouder. He is now a grand champion as well

Places
[color=red]Solo Sunset (3yo, War Chant) in the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf. I’ll be honest, she shocked me a bit here, this was a tough field! Proud of my filly

Shows
[color=red]Anglesite (3yo, I’m Your Angel) in the Breeders’ Cup Mile. Happy with this, her last few starts haven’t been the best, definitely proud of her

[color=blue]Another Nobody (2yo, Void) in a 2yo maiden

[color=blue]Cinnabar (3yo, Whats Your Point) in an allowance

The rest were blah
11(7)-4(4)-1(1)-3(1)-0 $5,707,500

Thank you Starfish for working out those figures!

Yeah thanks Lewis! I was thinking Lewis would be second but Kim looks like a jumps master…!

If some of my Stable stars had run up to form, I probably would have and may have even given you a run for first… Probably not

At least some of my up and coming horses did well to give me hope for next year.

Thanks Jason! We do have quite a few jumpers in our barn, they have definitely paid off

We didn’t enter the Breeder’s Cup but still the race day was interesting and quite rewarding!

[color=blue]Ch. Al Mundhir won the Discovery Handicap. He wasn’t even close to getting qualified for BC, so I don’t have to regret not entering him, and this makes me especially happy about this win. His 3rd graded stakes win.

[color=red]Intricate finished 4th/14 in a maiden for 2yo fillies, her first race ever. We purchased her at the Annual Select Auction. She’s by The Fighting Fifty and her dam is multiple stakes placed Ch. Gilded Affair. I think that this result is really not bad for a first race.

Well done to everyone who had BC winners

What a nerve-wracking day!  This was the first year I was able to enter the super-expensive BC races, and overall, we did well, especially for that level of competition.  Of course our only win came from our leased mare  ::), but a win is a win, and the paycheck certainly was nice.

3YO [color=red]Ch. Kissing Point (Point Given), our free lease from Kindlehope, WON the BC Filly & Mare Turf after having been ranked only #18 at the time of entry.  This was her first stakes win, and it earned her both her Ch. title and millionaire status - the first millionaire I have created!  She came to me last February as a maiden, and has really blossomed this year.  I am going to be incredibly sad to see her return to Kindlehope, though she certainly has padded my bank account nicely as a thanks.

2YO [color=blue]Bear Witness (Witness) ran 2nd in his NW3 - a higher level race than he ought to run in.  I’m especially proud to see him do well because it’s his first race for us (finishing well right off the bat is a good sign) and because he’s the first runner I’ll get to manage from my new stallion.  I think he has a lot of potential, and I can’t wait to figure him out as we get to know him better.

3YO homebred [color=blue]Ch. Allinvain (Worth My While) ran 3rd in the G2 Knickerbocker Stakes in what was a very, very close race.  I’m glad to see him consistently being competitive at the stakes level - something I would not have expected from him a couple months ago.

2YO [color=blue]Ducati (Magic Cross) was a very close 3rd in the biggest race of his career - the BC Juvenile- where he faced some of his biggest rivals.  This boy has a huge heart, though - no matter how tough the competition, he has never been out of the top 3.

4YO [color=blue]Triomphe (Magic Glory) finished 3rd in the BC Sprint.  Every time I think he might be over the hill, he finds a way to surprise me.  He’s a tough fellow.

5YO [color=red]Twirlaway (Whirlaway) has been fizzling out as we near the end of the year, but she ran a steady 5th in the BC Filly & Mare Sprint.  Unless something drastic happens between now & December 31st, she’ll be retiring and joining our broodmare band next spring.

2YO homebred [color=red]Coquette (Bellagio) was the only disappointment, finishing 8th in the BC Juvenile Turf Fillies.  To her credit, though, it was a very, very close race (everyone was a head/neck/nose apart in front of her).  She also had a rough break into 10th place, and was moving up the ranks before running out of room.  Perhaps this is a sign that she’ll like longer distances when she’s older?

Another interesting fact?  I’ve earned more money this year than I have earned in all my previous years, combined.  Whoa.

Pretty good day. Not our best, not our worst. Nightfight foals had a great day, though, and we are super happy about that.

Stables mates and Nightfight foals, [color=blue]Ch. Nightwatchman and [color=red]Ch. Deep Of The Night swept the BC Dirt Juvi and Filly races.

[color=red]Fightin’ The Smoke (NF) did well in the dirt mile finishing 2nd.  The race “showed” that she “won by a nose”, but says that she finished 2nd.  I hate it when it does that because it make me wonder if it’s a bug…

Also, 3yo NF filly, [color=red]Ardiente won her BC race.  WTG, Jason.

[color=blue]Sponsored didn’t have his head in the game and played around with rival[color=blue] Von L in the Classic.

We had some 4ths and 5ths and worse but these were the highlights of the day.

It is a bug. A known one that won’t be fixed (except in the rewrite).
