1/9

Sent out 7 runners today, only 2 did anything of note (unless you call finishing last something of note!!!).:-

1 Winner
[color=blue]Ch. Hogwarts, (4yo, Magic Glory x Blarneystone Lane) 1/10 in the G2 Memsie Stakes in Australia. Earned his Champion status with this win.  He did way better than expected, beating the likes of [color=blue]NCh. Von Lichtenstein & [color=blue]Ch. Usain Bolt (poor Usain is probably hating the sight of our colors right now as, in his previous race, another one of our horses prevented him from becoming a Breeders’ Series Champion last year).

1 Third
[color=red]Flight of Silk, (3yo, Major’s Flight x Flaming Silk) 3/10 in the G3 Santa Ysabel Stakes at Santa Anita.

Also Ran
[color=red]Harvard Speaker, (3yo, Harvard Bound x Fanci Remark) 7/11 in an NW2 at Aqueduct.
[color=red]Ginny Weasley, (3yo, Major’s Flight x Painted Desert) 12/13 in an NW2 at Aqueduct.
[color=blue]Hogsmeade, (3yo, Highland Magic x Blarneystone Lane) 12/12 in an OA at Aqueduct.
[color=red]Ancient Fire, (3yo, Turn n’Burn x Ancient Honour) 14/14 in an NW1 at Aqueduct.
[color=red]Exquisite, (5yo, Easy Goer x Hail to Beauty) 14/14 in the G3 Affectionately Handicap at Aqueduct.

Pretty good day - our girls are back in form! :slight_smile:

WINS:
[color=red]Crystal Romance (3yo, Gunningdownromance) in a NW2.

[color=blue]Well of Magick (4yo, Sadler’s Wells) in a OA for his debut over jumps. He’s bred to love them, so it’s a relief to get a win straight off the bat!

[color=red]Can’t Fool Me (3yo, Foolhardy) in her first win since last July. Yay! She won the Santa Ysabel Stakes.

[color=red]Gift of Gold (3yo, Giant’s Causeway) in her first win since last August. Also yay! She won the HDF McNeil Stakes.

PLACES:
[color=blue]As You Like (3yo, As You Wish) in a NW2.

[color=red]Morgan le Fay (5yo, Highland Wizard) in the Affectionately Handicap.

[color=blue]Usain Bolt (4yo, Strider) in the Memsie Stakes. I think, despite the name, he’d prefer another 1-2 furlongs.

[color=red]Gotta Triumph (3yo, Gotta Go) in the HDF McNeil Stakes behind her stablemate.

SHOWS:
[color=blue]Blood Magic (3yo, Candidate) in a NW2.

[color=red]Chasingromance (4yo, Gunningdownromance) in an OA.

[color=blue]Thrill A Sec (3yo, Lasting Spirit) in an OA.

[color=red]Party Doll (3yo, Slew O’Scots) in a NW1.

[color=red]Devil’s Price (4yo, Candidate) in the Honey Fox Handicap.

Not a bad day overall.

[color=blue]Crafty Magic won an OA on the turf, if he were mine I would probably geld him to be more competitive in Stakes but eh he’s still bringing in money

[color=red]Akubra won an OA on turf also. Her SF was terrible though, think she still needs equip fiddling

[color=red]Seattle Eclipse I recently purchased, came home 2nd in a NW3, she was leading for a fair while but the 15.5f seemed a bit much

[color=green]Grecian Devil second in a steeples OA, 6yrs old now but still competitive. He seems to like coming in second. Perhaps a little less distance will help

The other 3 placed terribly, plus a claimer that came in dead last, yay!  ::)

Only 5 out.

Highlight of the day was Holy Cow, winning his first stakes.

Fit to be Tied and Sweet as Honey did sire High Chances proud by coming in 2nd in their respective OAs.

All the Right Move was 3rd in her OA against the girls.

Ring of Smoke was, sadly, off the charts in her stakes start.

Yay!

Boo. :frowning:

It happens, no worries. That race was too long, this one was perhaps a little short. Can’t expect a win every time out.

So bad! Five runners and almost everyone unplaced… but there is hope. For some. :stuck_out_tongue:

3yo [color=blue]Im Your Daddy finished 3rd/8 in a claimer. I’m thinking of steeplechases for him, but doesn’t really have a lot of training… so he’ll continue easy races for a while.

[color=blue]Ch. Gold Tic (Point Given) finished 4th/10 in Mr. Prospector Handicap. He has some stakes placings, but no wins at this level yet.

3yo[color=red] Intricate finished 5th/14 in a NW1. I was hoping for a better result after her recent win, but that’s not terribly bad.

[color=red]Ch. Crownette finished 5th/14 in Honey Fox Handicap. She didn’t have her regular jockey, so I’ll blame him for that.

[color=red]Ch. Alchaasibiyeh finished 6th/14 in Affectionately Handicap - a steeplechase. It seems that allowance is her level…

A very good start to 2017

Stable Race Results For January 9th, 2017

Lets hope today is just a precursor to a good year sent out three and they all won some money

Places
[color=blue]Set It Off (NF) had a few weeks rest at the farm after pulling up lame and came back full of energy only losing by a nose to Holy cow in the G-3 mr prospector handicap

[color=red]High Darling was 4th in her Nw-2 and [color=red]crystal singer was 5th in hers.

I’m trying to get myself back into the swing of things.  Real life played havoc with me last year, so racing kind of took a backseat unfortunately.  But, we have our first win of the year!

Highland Witch has only ever been in three races in her life.  In all three, she’s either won or placed.  This gives me some high hopes for her future, if I’m lucky she’ll do as well for me as Strike Out did.  She won her 6.5f NW2 allowance today on wet turf.  :smiley:

Tennessee Crossing didn’t fair quite so well in his 6.5f NW3 allowance, coming in 6th place.

Glad to see him doing well - little sister Funky Music starts this year :slight_smile:

Good day!

[color=red]Ch. Cathedral ran in 11.5f Allowance for 4yo+ F/M (T) and placed 1st/13. When I finally retire her to the breeding shed, I’ll definitely be looking for studs to compliment her longevity. My first homebred is age 6 and still bringing in wins!

[color=red]La Femme Nikita ran in 6.0f NW1 Allowance for 3yo+ (D) and placed 2nd/13. Very pleased with this girl, hoping to bring out her full potential this year.

[color=red]Delightful Queen ran in 10.0f Allowance for 4yo+ (D) and placed 3rd/13. She’s a very strong runner and I hope to bring out her full potential this year as well.

[color=red]Ch. Eloquence ran in 8.5f Gr. 3 Affectionately Handicap for 4yo+ F/M (SC) and placed 4th/14. If she had just taken one more place up she could actually be mult. stakes placed! It’s alright, still a strong placing.

Impressive! I really love the hard-knocking mares that don’t want to retire to the easy life. (If birthing/looking after a baby can be termed easy.)

Well today’s just downright wicked! I’m chalking it up to the 100+ days they all spent at home last year, lol

[color=blue]A Charming Man broke his maiden in a 11.5f maiden on dirt. FINALLY.

[color=blue]Wise Words also finally broke his maiden in a 10.5f NW1 allowance on dirt. Would be terrible if these two start butting heads in the future, xD

[color=red]Farewell to Arms won a 9.5f NW2 Allowance on dirt. Been expecting good things from her since I bought her; maybe this year’s her year.

[color=red]Stand Back finished a very strong second in a 10.5f NW3 steeplechase allowance. If only she won, then I’d be a perfect 6-for-6, lol

Now I’m nervous about this Saturday’s racer and whether he can keep the OTB streek going, xD

Just ouchie all over… ha. I guess this is my payback for being inconsistent for a few months.

[color=green]Cloudwalker (5YO, created) was the only one worth writing home about, finishing 1st/6 in a $5k 5f claimer on dirt. He went unclaimed so maybe I’ll try him in a few more sprints and see if he’ll be able to bring in a little more money for me.

[color=green]Snowballs Chance (5YO, Spectacular Bid x Sunset Beauty) also contested a claimer, where he struggled with the short distance - he needs endurance distances and didn’t fare well over 7 furlongs, finishing 5th/8. He also went unclaimed and will go longer in his next start.

[color=red]Pride Lands (4YO, Dark Continent x Meant to Be) continues her depressing streak of refusing to show up after an impressive 2YO season, finishing 8th/13 in an NW3 today. We’ll try some equipment/distance changes and if nothing clicks, maybe try her over fences in a few months.

[color=blue]Prince Charming (3YO, A.P. Indy x Von Hollywood) starts the year following Pride Lands’ trend with an 11th/13 in an open allowance to kick off his three-year-old season after doing relatively well as a two-year-old.

Saddest of all for me, [color=green]Silver Cross (6YO, Must Be Magic x Hollywood Silver) is starting to look like maybe six years has been enough for him. He was the first really successful horse I campaigned and was a great, consistent money earner for me and I’d love for him to keep going forever, but I may need to start thinking about bringing him home to be a pasture buddy. He ran 12th/14 in an open allowance - easily the worst he’s done since I bought him as a 4YO.

I only sent 3 out this day thanks to limited FF time (but the next couple of race days should be more eventful, finally!)

However, I’m incredibly pleased with the results:

One of our stable starlets, who officially became [color=red]GCh. Afterglow (5yo, Affirmed) today by winning the G3 Concorde Stakes down in Aus.  I don’t plan to retire her this season unless her performance dramatically drops off in the next few months, though I would love to have babies from her sooner rather than later.  The girl is determined to keep running!  Now that mom is retired (much to my immense disappointment), I am counting down the days til she is ready to fill those big shoes in the breeding shed.  I just recently purchased Murder By Numbers, her half sister, and am hoping that she carries some of the family talent in her DNA.  And hopefully her now-3yo half sister and 2yo half brother are taking notes…  She’s only the third horse I have raced to the GCh. title yet - maybe she can be the first one I get to an even higher title?  Who knows!  But for now, the lady wants to run…and win.

Our first ever homebred filly, [color=red]Ch. Oh So Proud (5yo, Highland Pride) finished second in the G3 Honey Fox Handicap.  She’s another who was on the “maybe” list for retiring to brood, but I don’t think she’s ready to call it quits yet, either.  It will be a bittersweet day when she stops wearing our silks…  She has certainly lived up to her name.

The only disappointment today comes from recently acquired [color=red]Holiday Joy (5yo, Northern Dancer), who had her first stakes attempt with us.  I didn’t really expect her to do well, but rather entered her on a whim, in the off chance that she might surprise me.  She didn’t.  She is yet another mare who, due to her age, I have been debating retiring (with our incoming 2yos, we have quite a large string to manage).  Yet she is the one I am least convinced about - no super-amazing parents (though mom is a stakes winning speed record holder) and no super-amazing career (though she has several wins).  I really want to get her credentials improved first - and that’s what I was HOPING this race might do.  I still wish she hadn’t switched to hurdles, though - she only had 1 start per surface before switching, and I think she would have been better at that, judging by her dam’s record.  So…she may still switch over to brood soon…

Thanks! :slight_smile: I am very proud of her, and she’ll have definitely earned her retirement!
