1/26

More ouch. Sent out 11 and 4 hit the board. We claimed 1 horse and are done with claiming for a looong time (beyond entering claimers as I try and clear out the team a little more).

Our sole winner was our successful 10k claim, [color=red]Magickal Rites (1st/6). She’s 2 for 2 this year at age 6 and is a future broodmare prospect, being by Irish River (G) out of Lady in Leather (B) by Highland Laird (S).

[color=blue]Nindalf ran 2nd/6 in his SC debut.

[color=red]Mountain Laurel was 3rd/6 in a NW3.
[color=green]Armageddon was 3rd/7 in his maiden SC debut.

Mediocre day, but you have to start somewhere with the younger ones. Sent out 4 - two of which were maidens and one of which only had 1 previous start.

[color=red]Cinderella Story (3YO, Highland Magic x Sweet Air) seemed to like the turf better than dirt, running 5th/14 in her 5.5f NW1 for 3YO+. I’ll see how she does with a little more distance next time.

[color=red]Miss Sookie (3YO, Dark Continent x Grant’s Star), my barn’s midget at 14.2, ran in the middle of the pack to finish 7th/14 in her first start, a 6f dirt NW2 for 3YO+. Some tweaking to do here, I think, but at least she didn’t bomb.

[color=green]Beau Cheval (3YO, Silver Charm x Closing Passage) was the only real bomb of the day, going 6th/7 in a $50,000 claimer on dirt. It was his first start, so I think my next step will be to try him on turf and see if the surface change helps. He may also hit a few jump trials and see how that goes.

My bright spot in an otherwise mediocre day - [color=blue]Uncle Pennybags (5YO, What’s Debatable x Moonopolize) showed a glimmer of his previous form, running 3rd/10 in the Grade 1 Sunshine Millions Sprint. It was his first start with a new equipment adjustment. Now if we can just get that elusive Grade 1 win…  ::) He’ll get a drop in company to try to build up a little more confidence, then I’ll give it another shot and hope he’s not totally over the hill by then.

Another all-or-nothing day, although only sent out 3 runners today:-

1 Win
[color=red]Ch. Moony’s Fancy, (4yo, Moonopoly x Fanci Remark) 1/10 in the G1 Barretts Stakes at Santa Anita. 4th win (to go along with 6 seconds) in her last 10 starts. 3rd SW and 1st G1W.

Also Ran
[color=blue]Contristo (Leased), (4yo, Stressed x Las Vegas Jitters) 8/10 in an OA in Australia.
[color=blue]Ch. Prestige, (5yo, Cross Roads x Magician’s Mystery) 13/14 in an OA at Aqueduct.

Another day where we came home with more than we sent out  ::) and that was about as good as it got!

[color=red]Final Gamble (3yo Highland Wizard) managed 3rd in her maiden. beaten two noses. She’s lighty raced so hopefully with a bit of tweaking she’ll get her head in front.

[color=red]Sleep Easy (4yo Rumor Has It) made her stakes debut and found the competition too strong. She’ll head back to allowance company for the time being.

The new addition to the team is [color=red]Romance N Honour (3yo Alley Cat x On The Run (Run For It)). I didn’t think the luck of the draw would go our way after we made a successful claim on the previous race day but somehow she’s ours  :smiley: We raced her half-brother GCh Caledonian for a while but sadly his best days were behind him and he never got the elusive final stakes win needed for stud qualification. Their gold-ranked dam is a half-sister to NCh I’m A Classic and we’re thrilled to have her (so far) only living daughter race in our colours.

[color=red]Ch. Alchaasibiyeh travelled to Australia, to reduce the competition  :stuck_out_tongue: and she started with 2nd/6 place in open allowance.

[color=red]Gentle Charlotte finished 3rd/7 in a claimer.

[color=blue]Beautiful Romance ran for Clicker Lab for the first time, and he finished 7th/14 in his NW1 allowance. We’re waiting for his dam’s foal linebred to Alydar.

Four out and three hit the board, with a homebred taking home a win. She’s the first todo so, too! My matchmaking skills aren’t a lost cause after all, ='D

[color=red]Beautiful Is Gone was third in an 8f NW3 turfer and [color=blue]Wise Words was fourth in a 10f OA on dirt. [color=blue]Trancus finished off the board at 7th in a 7f NW3 on dirt; I’m probably bringing him home for a proper vacation after he was stuck on the East Coast for over half a year. Highlight is [color=red]Quorra, winning an 8.5f dirt maiden for 3YO fillies. If only her pasture mates start stepping up, too…

Another rough day at the track… I dont know whats wrong with my stakes ponies… 8 out, 4 on the board

[color=red]Princess Pride (4yo, High On Love) won her NW3 allowance, her first start of the season :slight_smile:

[color=blue]first Fight (3yo, Nightfight) finally broke his maiden! Hopefully he keeps it up

[color=blue]Angelius (4yo, I’m Your Angel) ran 3rd in an open allowance

My stakes horses [color=blue]Run Jenny Run (who had a month rest), [color=blue]Starting Point and [color=blue]Ace of Hearts (He may be getting over the hill) were all a bust… Ran really poorly  :-\

Only real highlight of the day was claiming Tanafriti (Akhetnaten X Unknown Powers) for 10k- she is half to the Platinum ranked Carbon Copy!

Workmanlike day for our crew.

WINS:
[color=red]Glorious Romance (3yo, Gunningdownromance) in a NW3.

[color=red]Etched In Gold (6yo, Government Secret) in an OA.

PLACES:
[color=red]Magick Symbol (3yo, Cryptic Ballad) in a NW3.

[color=red]Cadbury (3yo, Highland Wizard) in a maiden.

[color=blue]Plague (3yo, Dark Continent) in a NW2.

[color=blue]King’s Knight (3yo, Chivalry) in a NW2.

[color=blue]As You Like (3yo, As You Wish) in the C.S. Hayes Stakes.

SHOWS:
[color=red]Bright Princess (3yo, High Chances) in a maiden.

Pair of 5yo guys on the track today, both doing very well!

[color=green]Ch. Flight Line ran in 10.5f NW2 Allowance for 3yo+ (SC) and placed 1st/6. This is only his second win, despite having 1 place and 5 shows in stakes. Running on the allowance level more often will fix his lack of wins, it seems!

[color=blue]Gallant Affair ran in 9.0f Allowance for 4yo+ (D) and placed 2nd/14. This makes him Ch. Gallant Affair!
