1/12

Nice day with some surprises.

[color=red]Chalula One finished 1st/6 in a claimer, and got claimed by Windward Farm. 2nd in this race was 3yo filly [color=red]Athykea, which joined Clicker Lab :slight_smile: I hope that this was a good decision! She is my second horse with Bold Ruler blood, after I bought 2yo Hot Gold at Cirque Du Soleil’s auction. I decided to sell Chalula One, because she was limping after a light jog around the track - thought it’s quite serious injury for such easy workout :frowning: but she can still win many races.
Athykea is a pretty mahogany bay filly sired by WCh. King David (B), out of created mare Follow A Dream (B).

[color=red]Gentle Charlotte finished 2nd/8 in a NW1 just like in her previous race, but with much better speed figure.

4yo [color=red]Ch. Shadow In The Dark finished  7th/14 in open steeplechase allowance. She ran a bit slower than previously, and maybe distance was too long. She will probably join our auction in April.

Severity of injury isn’t linked to the type of workout, more random chance.

Well, good to know. I was lucky this year, only one other filly was injured once, but that was minor. Hopefully Athykea will keep running well, and her mahogany bay coat looks good in the beta. :wink:

7 runners sent out today:-

1 Win
[color=red]Office Hours (Leased), (3yo, Alley Cat x Wonderful Dreams) 1/6 in an OA at Aqueduct. Finally managed to hand in her maiden certificate after finishing either 2nd or 3rd in 5 of her 8 races last year. Hopefully this is the start of  good streak for her.

2 Thirds
[color=blue]Last For More, (3yo, Lasting Spirit x Back For More) 3/10 in the G2 Ascot Vale Stakes in Australia. Continues to perform well and remains a big hope for the big Foreign races this year.
[color=blue]Ch. Liberty Creek, (5yo, Omaha x Skip the Secrets) 3/11 in the G2 Craiglee Stakes in Australia. Second consecutive promising run after a string of disappointing performances in the latter half of last year.

1 Fourth
[color=red]Devil’s Flight, (3yo, Major’s Flight x Coco Diablo) 4/14 in an NW2 at Aqueduct.

Also Ran
[color=blue]DoubleOrNothing, (6yo, A.P. Indy x By Honor Bound) 6/8 in an OA in Australia. Can’t figure him out and have put him up For Sale.
[color=red]Lucky Major, (3yo, Major’s Flight x Lucky Lucky Lady) 9/11 in an OA at Aqueduct. Definite disappointment - For Sale.
[color=blue]Ch. Prestige, (5yo, Cross Roads x Magician’s Mystery) 12/14 in an OA at Aqueduct. Poor start after a very good year last year.

Finally a day good enough to post about! (Beyond our one stakes highlight earlier). Sent out 5 and only one fell off the board.

[color=red]Palm Reader won her 3yo debut in an 8f dirt maiden. Happy for my Seattle Sorcerer filly.

[color=red]Hot Nurse ran 2nd/11 in the G2 San Gorgonio Handicap, finishing just a nose behind the winner and 2-3/4 lengths ahead of the next mare.

[color=red]Temple Maiden was 3rd/14 in her 3yo debut, NW3.
[color=green]Legal Strategy managed a 3rd/14 in his OA.

Our one fail was [color=blue]Nindalf running 9th/14 in his 3yo debut, NW2.

Should’ve gone with my gut and sent [color=green]Magnificent Red to a boarding farm, but at least I know he needs the rest. Finished 8th in a 6f NW1 allowance on dirt. Good job, my dear gelding. xD

So-so day, by our usual standards. Some highlights, though.

WiNS:
[color=blue]Plague (3yo, Dark Continent) in a NW1.

[color=blue]Epic Proportions (3yo, Giant’s Causeway) in an OA.

[color=red]Hemisphere (3yo, Octagonal) in an OA.

[color=green]Magician’s Wand (4yo, Point Given) in a claimer, now that he’s newly gelded. He’s for sale to new members. :slight_smile:

[color=red]Dressed To Impress (3yo, No Duplicate) in a NW1. She’s 2 for 2 this year so far.

[color=red]Brightest Light (5yo, Akhetnaten) in the San Gorgino Handicap. She’s now a MSW, yay! :slight_smile:

[color=red]Test of Faith (3yo, Ring of Fire) in the Ascot Vale Stakes against the boys.

PLACES:
[color=red]Fire Magic (3yo, Highland Magic) in a NW3.

[color=red]Sable Princess (4yo, King David) in an OA.

[color=red]Glorious Romance (3yo, Gunningdownromance) in an OA, behind Hemisphere.

[color=blue]Brilliant Protege (3yo, A.P. Indy) in a NW2, his best performance yet.

SHOWS:
[color=blue]Atlantic City (3yo, Foolhardy) in a NW1, behind Plague.

[color=red]Full of Fanfare (3yo, Witness) in a NW3.

[color=red]Devilinthedetails (3yo, Devil His Due) in a maiden.

[color=blue]Jumanji (3yo, Dark Continent) in a NW2, behind Brilliant Protege.

[color=blue]Legendary Glory (3yo, Robin Hood) in a NW2.

[color=red]Sydney Ellen (4yo, Candidate) in the San Gorgino Handicap, behind Brightest Light.

[color=blue]King’s Knight (3yo, Chivalry) in the Chelmsford Stakes, his stakes debut.

Another 10 off the board, but oh well.

I sent 15 out, and thankfully, most got the memo to aim for the winner’s circle.  So far we’re sitting at 45% wins for the year…whew.

[color=red]Syrah (5yo, Bold Ruler) was purchased as a future broodmare, thanks to her famous sire.  However, she must have sensed the urgency of the situation, as this is her second win in a row (her last, in December, was her first time in the top three in all of 2016).  And, to seal the deal, she earned a speed factor today.  After looking at her damline, I saw that they tended to be chasers.  Sure enough, making that switch made all the difference - undefeated over jumps so far!  Ok, mare - you can keep running for now!  I would hate to see her go, but if anyone is in need of a chaser brood prospect, PM me, as I would consider making you a deal.

[color=red]Montalvo (3yo, Point Given) won her NW3 - she’s only finished in the top two since July. Good girl.

[color=red]Ch. Kissing Point (5yo, Point Given) won her OA - it will be sad to see her lease end soon…  We earned her champion title and her SW/millionaire statuses.  She has been very, very good to us.

[color=blue]War Chest (3yo, War Chant) made his debut, finally - and won!

[color=red]Ch. Always Ladylike (4yo, Giant’s Causeway) won her OA, which isn’t too surprising from this MSW.

[color=red]Never Doubt (4yo, No Duplicate) won her NW3.  She is on lease with Kissing Point, and so her time with us is running out as well.

[color=blue]Win Zenith (4yo, Gotta Go) may finally be ready to live up to his pedigree - today he won the G2 San Fernando Breeders’ Cup.  Fingers crossed for this fellow…

[color=red]Sweet Home Alabama (3yo, I’m A Classic) finished second in her OA - her first time not winning at the allowance level.

[color=red]Lovespell (4yo, Magic Cross) finished 3rd in her OA, which was a massive 15.5f long.  It was far beyond what she’s used to, so I was glad to see her do this well.

[color=red]Comedy Queen (3yo, High Chances) finished 3rd in her NW1.  She’s been on the board 50% of the time, but I can’t figure out how to get her to run better.  Hopefully she’ll have a typical HC 3yo season, and blossom…

The other 5?  Well, I’d rather not say…  ::)

Highlight of the day by far was Toast of the Town’s win (!) in the Craiglee Stakes. She had a decent year last year, but nowhere near as good as her 3yo, so I thought we were on the downward swing of her racing career. Looks like she wants to prove me wrong! She’s 70 points away from a WCh. status, and I would be just tickled if she made it.

Nighttime Strider continues to be undefeated, winning an N2 against the boys.

No Time To Rest and Ask Directions went 3-4 in the San Fernando Stakes.

Anarchy was 3rd in his OA–not bad for a 5yo!

Clarity of Night was a disappointing 4th in her OA, but at least she hit the board.

The rest of the gang…well, let’s not talk about them. :wink:
